NorthWest Student Exchange

I was astounded at how unethical and unprofessional this company is. To the point that I am calling the BBB tomorrow to make a report.
They get families to agree to month-​long exchanges, do not line up host families for the school year, and then high-​pressure the month-​families to keep the children «or they will be homeless/​sent back to their home countries!». Or they will call around at the last minute about «children who need emergency placement and will not have a home tomorrow!» Children often change homes twice or more throughout the year. Their coordinators have friends and family members do home visits for them (often with little or no notice).
Our coordinator, if she called at all, had three screaming children in the background at all times and we could barely hear her. We had to register the student at the school ourselves in October (we were the student’s second host family). The last three months, we didn’t hear from her at all, and her excuse was that her own children have ringworm and she’s pregnant again so she was too busy. She asked for one report card from me, and to my knowledge, never checked in at our student’s school to track her progress.
Even our student hated this program. She found another foreign exchange student at her school who used a different company and joined them for activities throughout the year. Other parents I talked to said the same things and told stories similar to mine– they were pressured into this at the last minute, no support, unprofessional conduct and behavior.
NorthWest Student Exchange offers little to no support throughout the year. I know the foreign families pay a lot of money for the «services» that don’t simply don’t exist. I cannot warn people far enough away from this company.
Someone is making a ton of money off foreign parents who think they are paying for a quality experience for their child.
Summary: Unethical, unprofessional, awful business. Do not support!

Be aware that this is an unethical entity. I spent a great deal of time and money, only to have NWSE back out. They fabricated falsehoods to make it my fault that they cancelled unilaterally when I had done nothing wrong. I can supply quotations from them as examples. These are people that display a somewhat professional face while they want something from you, then they snap and show you their truly vile and unethical nature, they come first and you come last. Why not take your business elsewhere?
