Northline Apartments

If you have even one friend or family member in the area who might, perchance, come to visit, DO NOT live here. There is NO guest parking whatsoever. Management suggests that you park up on the street outside of the complex — AS IF. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve driven around the neighborhood, desperately seeking just one parking spot even remotely close. Who builds an entire apartment complex — in the suburbs — with no guest parking?

The quality of this complex has much improved in the last year. Measures have been taken to improve security a great deal. Overall the premises are better maintained and the exterior of the buildings were recently painted. A dog run has been added, which is so convenient for my dogs and I. I have an assigned parking spot that I don’t have to pay extra for, which is getting to be hard to find in Seattle. I prefer the new management team, they are doing an awesome job and really improved this place.

So, when we first viewed this place last August it was a little rough, but it was one of the few places without a dog size limit so we did a walk through. There was an ‘unofficial’ doggy potty area out back and a pool that had apparently been closed for months from lack of care. The reason we moved in was the newer management had many improvements planned and had already started updating all the insides of the apartments (now they’re painting the outside, instead of painting it to look nice without fixing up the inside like some places do). In less than a year they’ve followed through on creating a small indoor resident lounge with free wifi, which extends most of the way into the communal outdoor lounge that has a barbecue, fireplace, and cornhole. They put a big, double-​gated fence, a covered bench, two poo bag/​trash can stands, and a thick layer of cedar chips in the doggy play area (and a proper dog park rules list!). They also fixed the pump in the flooded tennis courts and said they plan to resurface it and put in basketball hoops and bike storage, and given how they’ve followed through so far I’d say it’s likely. They did raise the rent a little for renewals, which seemed reasonable, and they were willing to work with us on it so it’s well worth it for us to stay because Amanda is so great about following up on anything we bring up and the maintenance crew is super responsive to the odd small issue (plus we’re just far enough off Aurora to have things not be crazy but still enjoy the convenience). Highly recommend!

I saw an ad for these apartments on Zillow a few days ago, and I liked the look of the upgrades they’ve done to their apartments. So I called yesterday, and set up an appointment to view one of the units. The person I spoke with was very courteous. I arrived today at the arranged time, and the woman on duty was headed out the door with a couple to show them an apartment. She apologized, and asked me if I could wait in the visitors lounge. I said «no problem at all» and took a seat in the nice lounge room she showed me to. The lounge is a separate room, through the office with a glass door where you can see the office and the front door to it. She said something like «I’m going to shut this door behind you,» which she did, and then left.
I waited roughly 20 minutes, and then noticed a woman, another potential resident I guessed, who wanted to come into the office. The front door was locked, and she could not come in. I got up to go and open the front door for her, and quickly realized that the lounge door was also locked. The apartment employee had locked me into the lounge, and I was not able to leave. Shocked, I looked for another way out. There was a back door, but this lead to an area that was under construction. Finally, when the employee returned, and eventually let me out of the room, I was pretty mad. I promptly headed for the exit to leave. She said something like «Oh, you don’t want to view the apartment?» I informed her that I did not realize that I had been locked up in a room for 30 minutes; she just looked at me as though puzzled why that should bother me.
There is no scenario where locking someone in a room, and not telling them, with no way out, is a good idea. It’s an especially bad idea when you want that persons business, and I can’t believe it doesn’t break some kind of safety code.
Ridiculous.

I completely agree with all the other comments concerning safety at this complex. I have only lived here for 2 weeks and have had to call the police twice.
Once, due to prowler outside my window :(. the property is very dark and I don’t feel safe walking to my car or taking out the garbage after sunset.
The 2^nd time was last night, there was a suspicious male crouched behind dumpster quickly putting something in or taking something out of a backpack. When I asked him what he was doing he said he was «waiting for his girlfriend. » … I said, behind a dumpster!!! He was acting very nervous and quickly ran away. Some other suspicious male was waiting for him at the top of the driveway. They quickly ran away towards highway 99/​Aurora.
Very scary living here. I don’t recommend this place to anyone!!!

Originally when I moved into the Northline apartment November, 2014; I had quite a bit to say about my worst experience when I first moved here. In all fairness to the management team, I felt it’s my duty to write an updated review based on the good experiences I have since that time.
First, I have nothing, but wonderful things to say about the new management company. Amanda the the property manager handled all of my concerns and issues professionally the day of my move and work very hard to make sure that the rest of the transition to the property was handled and to my satisfactions.
I’d like to add that there has been some major improvement all around the property. They’re added additional trash bins to accommodate all the trash that people seem to dump by the dumpster, built and a BBQ area, updated the parking spaces with proper bright yellow lines and numbers and updated the lighting outside of the unit and in the parking areas.
Amanda the property manager and her staff have given me nothing but great customer service and more, she’s is very understanding and will help you if it’s within her control. The greatest thing you can do for yourself and management is to communicate, which goes along way.
I love living here now and enjoy hiking the trail Interurban and Llandover Wood Trail which are both very close to the property. It’s safe, quiet and most importantly no issue to report. The website for residents is very user friendly to report your maintenance requests which are handled either the same day or 24 hours from receipt of request.
For this I give them five stars and I00% recommends this property to all my friends.

I have lived here for a little less than a year (just before the new ownership took over) and I fully agree with the 2 most recent reviewers.
Pros:
–Close to Seattle/​Greenwood for those who work and play in that area
–They accept large breed dogs
–Close to bus lines
–Quiet and friendly neighbors/​residents
Cons:
–There is not one single guest parking space on the property. Each apartment is given one assigned space. If you have a significant other or want to have someone over for dinner, they will need to park on the street. The limited street spaces (about 10) are shared with 3 other apartment complexes and usually full by 5 pm. After that time you will need to park several blocks away.
–This is located 2 blocks off of Aurora/​99 and directly on the interurban trail that runs through Shoreline. The traffic is noisey and they crime rate is high. There are often people shooting drugs or obviously high or drunk sitting right on the street corner on the benches. I have personally called the police twice in my stay here for people using drugs in the apartment complex in the bushes right outside of my unit window. I have also seen several windows broken in on the cars parked on the road over the past few months.
–The pool has been locked and out of order since 2013. The new ownership has stated that they will not be putting money into fixing it.
–The tennis courts are built below ground and are flooded ankle deep with water with the slightest amount of rainfall. They are not gated and are a hazard to children or pets who might wander into this area unattended.
–There are 3 dumpsters for 15 buildings worth of people/​waste. These are overflowing and smell awful constantly. Despite these conditions our garbage fees have gone up with no change in services. The recycle bins were also moved to the far corners of the lot which makes this much less convenient.
I would not recommend this location to friends and I am looking forward to moving as soon as my lease ends.

I recently moved out of the now Northline, previously Woodland Pointe apartments after living there for 2 years. The apartment itself was OK, some mold in the kitchen and bathroom, but generally decent. The grounds were terrible, the pool never worked, the tennis court was always flooded, the laundry rooms were constantly out of order or being broken into. The parking situation is terrible, no extra parking and too-​small spots for those that do have parking.
The management was not great when I moved in, but was bearable. For the most part they stayed out of my way. When Thrive Communities (
) took over, it got unbearable. Management was constantly asking for access to the apartments, but never made any improvements. At renewal they attempted to raise my rent about 30%. If I wanted to pay Queen Anne rents I would rather live in Queen Anne than this crappy location in North Seattle with no amenities. The move out process was abhorrent. After I refused to pay severely hiked rents they attempted to nickel and dime me as much as possible. It took multiple phone calls and emails to finally get most of the refund owed to me back, in two installments because of poor accounting.
Do not rent here. Thrive Communities is attempting cosmetic upgrades, but is only out to squeeze every dollar they can out of this place. It is not a good location, is not worth Seattle rental prices, and management is woeful.

Currently named Northline but formerly woodland Pointe. STAY AWAY! YOU DO NOT WANT TO RENT HERE!!! There are plenty of nicer places in the area in the same price range. There is NO PARKING HERE. They have more tenants with vehicles than spots. You will get a cramped assigned spot that you hope no one else parks in (which happens frequently). There will be no guest parking or if needed handicap parking. The parking lot is over max capacity making it difficult to get in and out of. Two Laundry rooms do not work and will not be fixed. I was informed they want to eventually put w&d in all the units. Until then ONE WORKING LAUNDRY ROOM. The pool hasn’t worked since I lived here. You will feel like you live in the middle of a construction zone with the all the constant LOUD noise and many workers on site it’s a nightmare!
I rarely leave reviews but renting here has been so miserable I had to!

I lived there for 4 years to be close to school and had a great experience with the management and maintenance teams throughout the years. Kim was a honest and responsive manager who was upfront with me whenever I had a concern. The apartments had new appliances, flooring and cabinets when I moved in and any repairs needed was fixed relatively quickly. I would definitely recommend this apartment to friends. Only 4 stars because of the smokers that would ruin the perfect days when I wanted the fresh air in blowing through the apartment.

In the beginning (summer ;2012), living here was nicer than it is today
Management seemed so-​so, well they felt shady but I was short on time.
Over the last year, our poor neighbor kept receiving eviction notices, no doubt for poor bookkeeping on managements end.
I didn’t think much of it.
Until infamous Kim Guadelupe, hired Anthony. He seems nice, but make no mistake, he plays dumb to ask questions. Instead of being upfront about an issue, I’ve had to wait until the awkward moment took over the face-​to-​face interactions.
When a notice of the raise of rent was posted for the coming July, I was grateful management for being proactive.
When I looked over the options and it was an additional $ 120 a month, but nothing clarified if this base price included utilities.
I emailed back and forth to see if I can do anything to lower the raise since I have lost my job in the last several months, and currently floating off edu funds and family help.
I was asked if I could do 50% of the increase. I assumed that means 60/120…last time simplified this fraction to its purest form it looked like ½.
So I pay the next months rent, and 16 days later, I receive a Pay or Vacate for 60 dollars. To play it safe I borrow more money to cover the difference, and contact Kim via email… stating the half of raised rent was not being honored and that I covered rent and utilities to top out at assumed agreed offer.
But I guess she didn’t realize that offering half of the raise was a lie. I mean she cant spell out «Sorry about your situation, but I cant give you a break,» which would have been better, so then I wouldn’t have to let you all know how lies are told to keep people from moving out. Or when she doesn’t want to deal with you she pawns you off to Anthony… of course, less answers are found there.
Oh yes, and I recall I told management (Anthony) that the LARGE dog that always lunged at me, is never on a leash. Anthony assured me he would address it. He did. 6 months later, the same week they moved out. Thank you for your prompt service.
Our neighbor named his WiFi «Clean Up After Your Pet» long before any announcements were made to do what should be common sense.

Awful place. received a false eviction notice twice. I actually had credit of $ 1.00 on the records. They said it was an accident and shredded the notice. The next week on a Sunday I receive a court notice saying I owe 750 for the previous eviction notice and need to go to court. In fact I paid my rent and non of this was needed. They are awful at book keeping. The Manager was not even available to talk to when I received the notice.
Had a broken water heater that exploded and got water everywhere. The replacement took 3 days so I had no hot water. The guy who replaced the heater told me that it was actually not the heater but a loose fitting, so it was actually a quick easy fix. Everytime they do repairs it takes forever and they always forget their tools. Making appointments for repairs never works out, they are always late. I made an appt. for 8am because of my work schedule. They never came until 10am and I woke up way early in order to accomodate them. Repairs can take hours to fix because they constantly leave then come back. The other residents are rude and not friendly at all. Lawn maint. is awful and they leave leave piles and rakes etc all over the place. Once a set of rakes and tools was left behind my car. Once a worker parked in my spot when I was away grocery shopping. The worker didn’t even apologize. I have been here 2 years and they have never cleaned the fireplace or dryer filters.
The pool is not cleaned and the tennis court is flooded.

The apartments are nice, but the management is awful. They do not value long term tenancy at all. They do not know how to give proper notices. I’m an outstanding tenant and have never even made a late payment ONCE. My lease was up and they raised my rent without notifying me. Three months later, after I’d been paying my rent as usual, I had an eviction notice on my door w/​an outstanding balance of over $ 200. This is because they had raised my rent without telling me. They didn’t even tell me when I paid the rent short the first month, as clearly I didn’t realize that it had gone up. When I complained to management about it, they didn’t act as if they cared at all, and proceeded to tell me that my rent was increasing another $ 100, an increase of 25%. Also, they don’t repair things when requested. I went to the management office to tell them a closet door needed to be fixed, and they told me I needed to go online to fill out a form. WTF? I filled out the form, the maintenance guy came to fix it, left because he didn’t have the part, and I haven’t heard from him or management since. I’m moving asap.
