I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Windom. We had an extremely beloved cat who was at the end of his life, and Dr. Windom was there for us every step of the way. From our first visit with her, she thoroughly answered all of our questions, listened intently and always took her time, provided excellent guidance and advice, responded to e-​mails, late night phone calls — she could not have been more responsive and helpful. We truly appreciate it, and would recommend her and her clinic and staff to anyone in need of a great, smart, compassionate and kind veterinarian.

Dr. Windom and her staff have high marks from my family going back 20 years… This place is not a fly by night or seat of pants outfit. Our Pugs, Terrier, and Mackerel Tabby have all received the most attentive and professional care… which I believe has enhanced the lives and lifespans of our beloved animals. Having to go the extra mile (s) from their old location is worth it. They are one of, if not the best, Vet in Western Washington.

There are few businesses that make me feel truly cared for and valued as a customer. Everyone at north seattle vet are so friendly and caring. Dr. Nathanson worked very hard and sensitively to try to save my pet rabbit. Unfortunately, I lost her to pneumonia in spite of their best efforts. The entire staff signed a heart-​warming card for me to console me on my loss. Expert staff with a heart. I will always take my rabbits to this vet.

Dr. Windom is the best! She has taken care of my cat for 18 years and I very much attribute my cat’s long and happy life to Dr. Windom and her team. Dr. Windom is very attentive and gracious when explaining possible treatment options. I also appreciate that when a health problem arises she doesn’t overload me with costly tests or seemingly unnecessary treatments. Bonus points for front desk staff who are very positive, chatty and happy.

Dr. Windom is one of the very best vets in Seattle! She takes care of our 15-​year old choc lab as if he is her own. She is sharp, caring and she listens and explains. The staff is amazing, especially Dina and Katie. We were fortunate to find Dr. Windom and her excellent care for our 2 dogs and 1 cat. We have referred others to her as well.

I love this clinic, and Dr V (Vincenze?). He has a great bedside manner with my dog, always gets on her level and gives her lots of attention, spending the time to put her and myself at ease, while giving a thorough exam. I’d appreciate it if the prices went down though…

Dr. Nathanson and her assistant Katie are fabulous. I have been going here for years and highly recommend them. They are very good and rates are comparable to others in the area (definitely not as high as some I’ve gone to in the central district area). It’s so comforting that they call to check on her to follow-​up on her health after visit too. :)

Love this place! Give them 6 stars if I could. Found a stray dog near the dog park last week. It hopped in the car with the pups. Called last minute to north seattle vet and they had me bring it in immediately to scan the chip, check her out and helped me track down, google and locate the owner. Always friendly, they call to follow up on issues to make sure Harley’s ok and genuinely care about their clients.

We recently took our Guinea Pig here as they had some great reviews. Not close to the house, but anything for the kids and the pig. Turns out that he had a bladderstone. They gave us a price for surgery and told us to get other quotes. Which I did. They weren’t the cheapest, but when i had questions for the surgeon, she contacted me directly. I really appreciated that. We decided on the surgery and he did well at first, but something wasn’t right. he died within two days and again the vet (Dr. Nathenson) called me directly. We had a long chat and I feel that she did everything she could to help our piggy. in the end it was probably a reaction to the anestesia. Vera and Dr. V was also very nice to us as well. one less star for a super long time in the waiting room before the appt.

Great vet at reasonable rates! I’ve been seeing them for about 10 years for my dog and cats on a recommendation from a friend. They are competent and very caring about me and my pets. I have a couple of feral cats and they know how to handle them and make them feel comfortable. I have since moved from the Seattle area, but will make the 1 hour drive to see them!
Dr. Windom and Dr. Nathanson only recommend the care that your pet needs and will not over-​medicate or do unnecessary treatments just to make money. All the techs and front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. Can’t recommend them enough!!!

I took my precious guinea pig here last week to see Dr. Vincenzi. She wasn’t feeling well, and looked a mess due to her respiratory infection, but she was on her best behavior. Dr. V was amazing. Not only was he friendly, but his passion for veterinary medicine was strong. He took amazing care of my piggie, soothing her while examining her. I could not have asked for a better vet. My guinea was discharged with medicine and clear instructions that would help her on the road to recovery! Additionally, the cost of the exam was far more reasonable than I had imagined.
After two days of feeling much better, my piggie got worse. I called the clinic and asked for advice. Although closing time was in a few minutes, I got a quick response from Dr. Vincenzi to take my piggie to an emergency vet.
Unfortunately, my precious guinea pig did not make it. She was very sick, and clearly was struggling to breathe. Saying goodbye was not easy, as it never is, but I knew that she was no longer going to suffer.
It was apparent that my pig’s illness was beyond repair, but Dr. V had done everything he could to make her better. His compassion for his practice and his friendly and calming demeanor made for such a good experience, even considering the outcome. The clinic called to follow up, since they had not heard what had happened at the emergency vet. I told them the news, but assured them that even though my piggie was gone, I could not thank them enough for their care.
I’m not sure if or when I will get another pig, but if or when I do, they’ll be seen by Dr. V and his team at North Seattle Veterinary Clinic!

My anxious golden has never had a calm vet visit until I brought her here! My husband and I both worked at a vet hospital downtown for years and they were great, but my dog never warmed up to being there even if it was just to come to work with me and not for treatment. Cass, my 10ish year old rescue golden mix, did so great with the NSVC staff and vets; she was relaxed and even laid down! This place is pretty close to where we live on the north side and definitely is a great place to go with your sweet fur babies when they need their check ups and shots.

My American Bulldog started limping again, but on a different leg… Mama was sad to see him in pain so off to the vet we went! The only vet available on a last minute appointment was Dr. Baker, the newest addition to the clinic.
FIRST thing she says after the initial «hello»… «Let me start off by saying, your dog is EXTREMELY overweight.»
Wow, hello to you too… NICE TO MEET YOU!
I know overweight dogs, mine is NOT extremely overweight. He could stand to lose weight only to help take the pressure off his sore knees. Then in a VERY condecending way, she asked me how much I fed him, and proceeded to add that I shouldn’t follow the feeding guidelines on the bag of dog food. To that I immediately told her I DID NOT follow them because they are excessive. I said, for a big dog I don’t feel like I feed him enough, 1−½ cups morning and night.
She then got on the floor to check out his knee… Up next she asks «Is he on any flea treatment, because I think he has fleas». She got up to get a flea comb and went over his back and legs. NOPE no fleas.
She was so judgemental, and I felt like she was trying to get me on more and more things… Does she get a cut of the money she brings in?! Thats how it felt.
Dr.Baker’s jabs pissed me off and sent me over the edge. Dr. Vincenzi is a tad worse in my opinion… he made me cry and then said «you are visably upset». Wow, thank you for being soooooo sympathetic! I feel like they are both definitely in the wrong profession. I feel like they do not care about animals.
If you are a vet, you need to sympathize, be tactful and caring because pets are family too! The are not «JUST» pets. My dog is my child!

When it comes to services or new restaurants I ALWAYS check Unilocal 1^st! I love reading reviews… the good ones, but I love the bad ones to see what I’m really in for. Someone mentioned to not see a particular male vet\doctor and I thank you. So, I made an appt. with the female vet, I wish I remembered her name :\ but the reviews below were helpful! I want to make sure I find the right fit for my dogs…
.I’ve been wanting to change vets b\c the one I use on crown hill is getting too costly for what it is. And the staff I feel, just «stab in the dark» when it comes to serious issues. And unfortunately their guesses are never correct. I can’t keep bringing my dog to a place like this. This is what prompted my search on Unilocal.
I have a pit\lab mix and he licked his paw raw, it’s been over a week and has not seemed to heal much. My dog is great around people, but gets very scared at the vet when we enter examination room and close the door. I warned the lady on the phone and she asked a lot of prep questions, which I think is important and very smart on her end to ensure safety for all. (Good start!) she was able to schedule me same day, and last minute.
When I arrived I was not acknowledged as I entered or when they (office staff,) locked eyes with me… Not a huge deal, but I’m a HUGE fan of customer service. That could\should be improved. Otherwise, once they did get around to see who I was they were very kind and professional.
When the vet assistant came out I told her about how scared my dog can get and I felt heard. As soon as we got into the room she got to his level and kept speaking to me to make him feel more comfy as she kept her hand down and out. He slowly came over to smell her then flopped over on his back for some belly love… that doesn’t happen normally, so I knew this place will be perfect for him! The vet\doctor came in and the assistant announced that «we’re feeling a little nervous today.» and the doctor was just as calm and respectful of my dogs’ anxiety.
I appreciated the fact that the doctor didn’t rush the process and wanted to make sure my dog was comfortable. I left with some great advice and a couple of meds. I was amazed by the price! It was very resonable\affordable. I will come back :) the only reason they got 4 out of 5 stars is b\c of the customer service upon arrival from the front desk, otherwise it was a great 1^st visit: D

This is where we’ve been taking our cat since we’ve had him and we couldn’t have a better vet. Dr. Nathanson is the coolest, sweetest veterinarian ever. Side note: she always has fun scrubs on– usually rabbits or some other animal. Anyways, she is patient, kind, and helpful in explaining things. When our kitters started acting very strange, yowling, and losing weight, Dr. Nathanson diagnosed him with hyperthyroidism and referred us to a wonderful center to treat him. He has slowly been improving and I’m really thankful that she helped us figure out what was wrong so we could have more time with him since he’s the best cat ever. They will also trim your pet’s nails after the appointment which is so helpful since I all but have to put on a hazard suit when I attempt to do this at home. The front desk people are friendly as well. Only issue is parking, as it’s a tiny lot that fills up quickly. But don’t despair– they’re moving to a bigger location on Northgate Way at the end of the year!

Nice neighborhood vet. They’ve been taking care of our cat and dog for years. Front desk staff is friendly and you can tell they are all animal lovers (seems obvious, right? But I’ve been to other vets with my parents’ animals, and sometimes folks don’t seem to even like cats/​dogs while working in a vet office). They’ll often come around from behind the desk to greet the pets as they arrive. There are some «office cats» who wander the shop, which is fun, too.
Dr. Windham is great. She’s personable, with a great manner. Very good with my skittish dog.
I’ve seen Dr. Franklin Vincenzi too, and he was also very good. As mentioned earlier, my dog is super skittish at the vet. He was so sweet, kneeling and then sitting on the ground, using a calming sing-​song voice to try to put her at ease.
Their prices are reasonable, which I really appreciate. And they are always happy to talk to you over the phone with questions and advice. If they’re super busy they may take your number to call you back.
PRO TIP: Try for an early morning appointment. As with all medical offices (whether vets or human doctors). late-​day appointments can often run late. But this is generally because the folks here are so animal-​centered. They won’t rush you out the door, and will take extra time if you’re having to deal with something horrible (like having to put a pet down). So I always understand if they’re running late. In fact, they’re pretty good about keeping you informed. Sometimes they’ve told me I might want to go get a Starbucks or something, as they’re about 30 minutes behind. But yeah, I try for early morning appointments in general.

I was not satisfied with my experience here and the lady at the front desk didn’t seem to care about first impressions.
We took our cat, which we just recently adopted, into the clinic on a Saturday morning and I thought our appointment was at 10:30AM. We walk in and the first thing we’re told is that we are 10 minutes late and our appointment was at 10:20AM, although I’m almost positive the reminder call said 10:30. This was just an awful first impression, which is why I’m giving them 1 star.
The receptionist was very rude and unwelcoming. I felt like they over charged us and told us we needed to get my cat shots she already had.
We took our cat to Queen Anne Veterinary Clinic and had a much friendlier, happier and comfortable experience.

I have two guinea pigs, Cody and Chloe, who I am pretty much obsessed with. When Chloe’s lump (a seemingly harmless longtime cyst that never bothered him… yes, him… long story) started to mutate, I searched for quite a while for a veterinarian who specialized in small animals.
I am so happy I found North Seattle Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Nathanson. She seemed to care just as much about Chloe’s well being and health as I do, which comforted me when I found out he would have to have surgery to remove this ruptured cyst. Guinea pigs generally don’t handle anesthesia well but her extensive knowledge and success rate with small animals put me at ease. She was patient not only with Chloe but with me as well, putting up with my numerous questions and concerns. Her longtime experience and confidence led me to trust her with the surgery.
Dr. Nathanson’s compassion did not stop once I forked over the cash for the surgery. She walked me through post-​surgical care and even saw Chloe 2 weeks later, free of charge, when he ripped out his sutures and had to have staples put in. She even called to check up on him a week after to make sure he was healing properly.
It’s veterinarians like Dr. Nathanson that reassure me that not all vets are out to get your cash. She is the rare type that cares deeply about the well being of your pet, and for that I will never go elsewhere. Chloe (and I) thank you!

Wish I could give less than one star.
The doctor here is so wildly off base on nutrition and what your pet should be eating I couldn’t possibly trust his judgement on any other matter. Unbelievable.

I LOVE North Seattle Veterinary Clinic!
When I first moved to Seattle in 1991 I went to several vets who I promptly rejected for either being what I considered to be too rough with my dog or too insensitive to my feelings. I was elated to find NSVC!
Everyone there has been kind, supportive and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. Well, there was this visiting vet I saw one time on the weekend who was a total bitch… but I’ve never seen her there again and it’s a totally isolated experience…
Dr’s Windom, Nathanson and Vincenzie are all great! They’re gentle with both my pets (I’ve taken dogs, cats and guinea pigs there!) and my feelings. They make sure that you know what’s happening with your baby. When my cat was dying from kidney failure, I called a traveling vet (Dr. Tina… who’s wonderful but that’s a story for another review) to come to my house to put him down when it was clear it was time. When she started asking me questions I knew all the answers! When she asked me who my regular veterinarian was and I told her, she responded that she enjoyed working with their clients because they were always well informed about their pet’s condition.
For the last 18 years they’ve supported me in keeping my pets healthy and then making difficult end of life decisions. I’m in process of moving to White Center and would NEVER even consider changing veternarians for the convenience of someone closer.
Also, I was reading here on Unilocal that someone said they smell?! I’ve never had that issue there. In my experience, the facility has always been clean, bright and welcoming.
NSVC is a gem! Take your pets there.
