My Haberdasher

I delayed writing this review for a long time because I didn’t want to rehash this awful experience but I eventually decided to write this since I wanted others to know my own experience in lieu of the other 5 star reviews.
I first contacted Jeff at the end of February 2015 about getting a custom suit made. I saw his website and his overall good reviews on Unilocal and decided to splurge and get something nice for my job interviews and graduation from medical residency. We ended up meeting at my apartment on March 3, 2015 where we picked out the details of the suit. The cost came out to $ 2,460 for a jacket, pants, vest, and two shirts. I paid the deposit of $ 1,230 and it was cashed that day.
At that time Jeff quoted me an estimated turnaround time of 4 – 6 weeks. I was fine with that because the bulk of my events were in June. I waited until May 3^rd (roughly 8 weeks later) to email Jeff. I didn’t hear back so I began texting and calling him a few days later. He didn’t return any of the emails, phone calls or texts so I began to worry. I went back on to Unilocal and noticed someone posted a similar story with a poor review about not receiving his order and was concerned that he simply just lost his deposit. I find it concerning that I no longer see that review on the website. If I remember correctly it was roughly around April 2015.
This only worked to worsen the anxiety that I was out $ 1,230. As time went on and I heard nothing back, I inched closer to calling anyone I could including the BBB and law enforcement. It wasn’t until May 26, more than 3 weeks after I contacted Jeff, that I finally heard back. This is now 11 weeks after my initial order. He stated that he messed up the order and was scrambling to get me a replacement suit. He cited that there was another customer with my name that he submitted the specifications for. What bothered me the most was that even if it was someone else’s order if it took the originally quoted 4 – 6 weeks he could have notified me several weeks early and should have had my actual order by 12 weeks. He also stated that I would «likely end up with two suits out of this». He said he would bring the suit by that week and apologized.
At this point I felt some relief that I didn’t lose my money to a scam artist. Unfortunately, I already missed one of my events that I wanted the suit for. Jeff brought the suit by that week and it fit decently but definitely wasn’t the suit I ordered or imagined. Jeff thought he could have my actual order by the time of the event when we talked that day.
As time drew near to my bigger event, I grew worried again. I contacted Jeff in early June to check the status and he was then less optimistic that I would have the suit by the date in June. I then asked for my money back which he did give me. He offered me the replacement suit as compensation but I wanted nothing more than to wipe my hands clean of the ordeal. We exchanged the replacement suit for a full reimbursement in June and I ended up getting a suit rushed at a local store to make it in time for the event.
The reason I’m giving one star is because of the following:
–Gross lack of communication which caused undue anxiety and almost going to the police, etc.
–Increasing vague timelines that were never correct. I felt led on multiple times which made me not have the suit for one event and jeopardized another
That being said, in the end Jeff did give me a full refund and offered additional compensation. I want to be fair in that aspect. Unfortunately it was 13 weeks after the original order. This could have been an isolated experience or a growing problem. That’s for you to decide. But I wanted to share my experience nonetheless. I’m happy to provide documentation of the conversations that took place since I have the texts and emails saved.

I have bought several pieces of clothing from Jeff over the years and he consistently delivers top-​quality goods on time that fit perfectly. I will definitely be working with Jeff again for any of my custom clothing needs in the Seattle area.

I don’t need a reason to get a nice suit and I couldn’t be happier with the two I’ve bought from Jeff. Jeff worked with my schedule and came to my home to do the measuring and show me all the options. The level of customization and detail that goes into each suit is staggering but it’s fun to be able to pick out not only the suit fabric and lining but the color, style and location of all the pockets and stitching. Jeff measured me for my pinstripe navy suit while I was wearing my handgun so the suit fits perfectly with my full size 1911 in an IWB holster, but the pants aren’t too big without it.
My second suit was a tuxedo in navy sharkskin with satin shawl lapels and came out simply perfect. The fit is outstanding, the fabric is beautiful and the details are extraordinary. I received many compliments and countless looks when I wore this tuxedo because everyone notices a quality well cut suit.
I highly recommend My Habedasher if you want a suit tailored to work with your sidearm or if you just want a top quality suit made to your every detail.

I have purchased many articles of clothing from Jeff Collins @ MyHaberdasher. I have found him to be professional, conservative as well as forward thinking. He understands body types as well as how to put things together that work well and are comfortable to wear.

Jeff Collins saved my wedding.
I had originally gone w/​someone else for a custom suit But one month before my wedding, they went bankrupt and I was up a creek w/​o a paddle. Luckily for me, my vendor recommended Jeff and he was able to hammer out a suit in 3 weeks. 3 WEEKS! And it was awesome.
Not only was was it fast, it fit like a glove! I have a thick torso and really broad shoulders. Any time I rent something from Men’s warehouse, I look like a tent. But now that I have a My Haberdasher suit, I look GOOD!!!

So, I am a very big guy, and finding a suit that was going to meet my measurements for my wedding was getting to be pretty stressful. So I searched here on Unilocal,and decided to give My Haberdasher a try. Jeff Collins is an absolutely WORLD CLASS tailor. Period. His professionalism, attention to detail, and friendly attitude are second to none. The suit he prepared for me for our wedding is superb. Excellent fit with impeccable attention to detail with the stitching and the jacket buttons. I WILL be recommending him to friends and family members, and he’ll be my go-​to tailor for additional suits moving forward. I can’t recommend him enough.

What a fun experience having a professional clothier come out to my house to talk about style and design, then get to actually pick the fabrics to make my new wardrobe. The clothing turned out better than I could have even expected and fit incredibly well. I finally have a great wearing suit and the shirts are amazing… I didn’t know there was such a big difference in a well tailored shirt compared to the blousey ones I’ve been buying for years. Being a bigger guy, it has been great having Jeff Collins custom fit suits, shirts and slacks to my ever changing size. He has allowed me to look sharp even though I have a few extra pounds to lose.
