As a dancer, I need to be comfortable in my body at all times. I have learned to find a dynamic balance of stamina, stability, and mobility. But too much stress disrupts this balance, and causes a dangerous cycle of tension that is hard to shake. This cycle is my greatest obstacle as a dancer.
I have discovered that a somatic approach to exercise and healing prioritizes the feeling of ease. Feeling my moves (rather than thinking about my efforts) unravels my habitual tensions.
