Moksha Clothing & Accessories

I live nearby and pass often, but I’m hesitant to return after my first experience.
Clothes are unique and seem very well made. I love the fabrics and colors.
On the day I went in, nothing really suited my mood and I wasn’t looking for anything in particular. The woman working the store seemed really pushy and offended that I didn’t want to try anything on or buy anything. It made me uncomfortable and wasn’t very pleasant.

Lots of pretty, one of a kind clothing by local designers. Some local artwork for sale as well. Fun, hip place to shop. Will go back again.

Great shop to discover unique, locally crafted wearable art, as well as imports. Staff is the opposite of pushy– very laid back, but eager to answer questions and offer second opinions upon request. Ask them about their occasional fashion shows. Very lively events.

Moksha is the source of Seattle street style. Shirts, dresses, skirts, purses, jewelry, scarves, hats. This shop brings together art, creativity, music, fashion and design for a memorable browsing/​shopping experience. Clothing lines include Actual Pain and Evergold. I meandered in here while strolling down The Ave with my husband.
I didn’t buy anything, but if you’re in the market for carefully curated items this is your spot.
I found both vintage and modern clothing that would/​will appeal to anyone that marches to the beat of their own style drum.
Prices are reasonable, the girl working was friendly, and the ambiance was pretty nifty.
Great place. Spend money here!

Although Moksha doesn’t sell ‘my style’ of clothing, I don’t want that to hinder my review.
It’s a really nice boutique. Great fashion, and there are definitely pieces that I would pay full price (even though I tend to be more of a bargain-​hunter) if I had anyplace to wear them. Interesting designs, all very unique. It felt like a very vintage-​y, bohemian-​chic kind of store. I got a great vibe form it.
The customer service seemed good enough. Although the salesperson came up and told me about current promotions, I like that she kept her distance and didn’t overwhelm me (like some other stores might). I didn’t wind up purchasing anything, but they do have really cute dresses and I might take advantage of the current sale to get one.
Oh! And I don’t know if they have sizing on the clothing, so definitely watch for that. It was a bit confusing, but I didn’t try anything on so I don’t know how well or poorly that works for their clothing.

Just stumbled upon this amazing store yesterday. Great clothes AND vinyl? New favorite place! Fun assortment of inexpensive new clothes and nice vintage. I bought a beautiful hand dyed slip that I already adore and my friend found a very cute swimsuit for $ 7. I can’t wait to go back!

Nice little store! It is mainly geared towards women. The clothing designs look interesting and innovative and could quite possibly a shopping girl’s dream. There are a few men’s clothes there that were interesting and cool but just not quite my style. Nice, friendly staff!

Mostly vintage. Start with the Goodwill down the block before blowing a bunch of dough here.

What a great shop! They have so many stylish clothes at a range of prices. The staff is always very friendly and I like the music they play. Usually when I go into a clothing store I feel intimidated. Not only do I feel comfortable shopping here, but Moksha also feels like just a nice place to hang out.

Really cute, unique fashion at great prices. I like that they have a mix of new and vintage items. However, I did buy a coat made by the British company Darling from Moksha that had these cheap plastic buttons that broke off. Since the buttons were covered by the same fabric as the coat, it’s not easy to replace them. The sales clerk contacted the company and I sent a photo of one broken button. Darling responded: «We are so sorry to say that we do not stock any haberdashery for the product we sell.»
So, cute clothing, but watch out for the brand Darling they sell.
Update: 7÷2÷12. The sales clerk was really good about contacting Darling. Originally, Darling agreed to exchange the coat and I brought it to the Moksha to be shipped to the UK. After months of waiting for a new coat, even Moksha gave up and returned my money and gave me a coupon for 20% off. So, Moksha has great service. But again, watch out for the brand Darling.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve found some winner items here but they’re few and far between.
My problem with this shop is the limited sizing available for women’s clothing. As a size 10 woman, I have a hard time finding something that works.
Lately, (³⁄₂₀₁₂), their window displays have been on the schoolmarm side of things, long skirts and oxford tops. I don’t want to look like I raided my grandmother’s closet.

I have mixed experiences here with the staff. Most girls here are sweet and helpful, (and have cute style!) but others are aloof, awkward, pretentious and downright rude. Returns and exchanges were made very painful by the snooty brunette who wears glasses indoors. I have been snapped at several times by the same associate. Just let me shop! The clothes are cute, you are not! However, the clothing is an intriguing mix of vintage, local, indie and popular street brands. It’s a very fun store to sift through, and you can find very unique things there! I’ve recently had better experiences here, which will keep me coming back. They also feature local art!

Had a problem with a (really cool!) watch purchased here. They couldn’t fix it and didn’t have another of the same one for exchange, so they let me keep the original one (in hopes of getting it fixed by a jeweler) and have my second favorite watch for free! Now that’s customer service!

This is a hidden gem, nestled right in the heart of the U-​District. Make you way past crowds of students and smelly ass hobos and you’ll find this spot.
To be honest I don’t own many pieces from here, but the pieces I do own are all unique and always garner some kind of attention from people who compliment my outfits.
I love that they support local artists and designers, a shop like this is what makes the Emerald City glitter.
Definitely not the overstocked streetwear spot, but then again if you want 30 different sizes of one piece, go to an Urban Outfitters…

I was pretty upset when I saw that this place didn’t have an average rating of 5 stars, so I immediately signed up for Unilocal with the intent of spreading the message «This place is a paradise!»
That being said, I work a block up from this wonderous store, and pass it almost everyday in route to school or engaging in all the other activities that happen to take place on the ave (My life is in the U District!)There have been multiple times where I have gotten off work and have had literally 20 minutes till a date. In these instances, I take my tip money and scurry to Moksha where their amazing and stylish staff are always happy to pick outfits out for me. YOU JUST HAVE TO ASK NICELY!
Apparently the other reviewers are not used to dealing with human beings. I like that the Moksha employees stick up for themselves, it shows that they are honest and opinionated people – and those are the types who would tell me if my earrings I picked out are heinous (even if they are the ones selling them). BUT that would never happen because the clothes are so beautiful and full of character that I couldn’t see anyone not finding a piece that spoke to them in enchanting ways. Did I mention that everything here is also a steal?! I felt almost bad for only paying $ 150 for a one of a kind, hand-​sewn out of reused materials leather moto jacket. It is beyond sexy.

I wandered into Moksha with a friend a few months ago, and spent the duration of the Johnny Cash album they were playing. I swear by the few things I picked up there: two tanks long enough to almost be dresses and my now favorite go-​to scarf in bamboo fabric. It was unbelievably hard to pick out of the armload of great pieces I found that day!
The women working here were awesome; funny, respectful of my space while I wandered around, and kind enough to laugh with me when I jumped from one rack to the next, yelling for my friend to see this! and this! oh, you have to see this!
I absolutely love this place; the music, the clothing, the décor, even the fitting rooms, which were so bright, and airy — they had me keep my bag outside the fitting room door, but were really understanding about my frustration at not being able to see my bag, and kept someone in sight of it while I tried on some of the cutest dresses, and tops and skirts I’ve ever found. {And I am an Anthropologie addict.}
They have a great selection of current designs, but I was really impressed with the basics here, especially the quality you get for a relatively small price tag; no small thing these days.
Definitely make a stop here, and be kind to the people behind the counter. I didn’t realize until I read the other reviews that anyone could have anything other than a good experience with them.

I am not a fan of the rude and condescending day-​time manager, but love the bag I purchased.

I was by far more inclined to see this store hidden in hipster Capitol Hill. Not the U-​District; but its a fabulous fit on the ave!
Moksha is defiantly urban-edgy-«dirty hipster» in its apparel and accessories. I’ve found some really fabulous totes that are hand-​splattered/​bleached to vintage scarves n’ shoes, reconstructed vintage dresses, and some killer metal jewelry pieces!
Another great thing is that Moksha carries for both guys and girls.
Prices are good! and when I mean good, I mean forever 21 competitive good!
Give that wardrobe some nice Seattle edge and visit Moksha!

Alright, Seattle, what gives? I wasn’t expecting much from you but you’ve given me wayyy too many amazing shopping options and I swear I went a little crazy in the brains with glee because of it.
Moksha is the shit. I want to buy the entire store. Holy fucking balls this place is filled with dope steez, all without the pretentiousness that oozes out of most boutiques.
This is exactly the vibe of my future space. I’m kind of pissed off that this place exists before I myself could ruin the pocketbooks of urban kids, but so far I haven’t found a comparable shop in LA. Then again LA’s «style» kind of sucks anyway, what with the hideous gladiator sandals (WHY?!) and full on ostentatiously feathered birds people are putting on their heads.

One of my new favorite shops. I stumbled in here with a friend and the style ended up being right up our alley. Most of the clothing seemed imported from Japan or Europe with bold prints and styles that were totally hip and modern.
Many of the items didn’t even have size tags, so you threw on what was cute and it somehow worked. The prices were very fair in my opinion considering all the pieces seemed original — no worries about someone else walking down the street in my outfit. I got 2 shirts and a dress for $ 110. Holler!
Also some really cool art displays on the wall from an artist, just basically really eclective, funky and fun spot.

Moksha, I miss you.
JoJo, the owner, is probably the most down to earth woman you will ever meet. next to my grandma. But seriously. When I was a bay area transplant I would frequent this little shop on the Ave and get fitted. Back then a lot of the shops didn’t have what Moksha offered. I love that they sell artwork and support local designers. Don’t know if the set up has changed but they have a really awesome selection on jewelry towards the back.
And OMG if they still have the $ 10 you should be digging through it RIGHT NOW! I found so much great stuff in there. Neener.
