I’ve never been too impressed with Dr. Moen’s bedside manner but I’ve gone to him for three years because he’s efficient and thorough. I just had an awful experience though and I want to make people aware. A late bus caused me to walk into an appointment 8 minutes late and I was turned away upon arrival. I went out of my way to continue seeing Dr. Moen after leaving my job in downtown Seattle. Then I stood in the cold when I wasn’t feeling well for 20 minutes waiting for a late bus to see him. Even after I explained these circumstances to the receptionist and told her that if they couldn’t find a way to squeeze me in that I’d be finding another doctor, they still turned me away. Also, the receptionist kept disappearing while she was checking me in without ever telling me what was going on. I thought this was unprofessional as well. I don’t know if this is common practice these days but it surely seems unreasonable to me. I’ll be finding a new doctor and making sure that my new primary care provider isn’t in a Swedish Medical Center. They’ve lost a patient for life.

I like Dr. Moen’s sensible nature. I’ve had song-and-dance men in the past and I don’t need them … at least not as my physician. He’s given me sound advice that doesn’t leave me wondering, «What exactly did he mean by that?» He’s also steered me clear of tests and procedures that would clearly put money in his pocket, but wouldn’t give me useful additional information.

I really like Dr. Moen. He is to the point and listens and it seems like he genuinely wants to find a treatment for his patients. Great Dr. I plan to see him again in the future.

I too was unimpressed with Dr. Moen. He felt rather dismissive of some of my concerns and seemed to rely solely on text book answers for his reasoning/diagnosis. I prefer doctors who think more outside the box and truly listen to their patients.

I’ve been searching for a good doctor ever since I moved to Seattle a year ago, and Dr. Moen did not impress. If you like a cool, clinical kind of appointment, you may like him, but I prefer someone who actually seems interested in whatever may be causing you distress. He’s also very reluctant to refer you to a specialist, instead saying to go home and call him back if your condition is worse. Now, I know my condition and know when it needs to be treated by a specialist, but he was having none of it. So save yourself some time and skip this guy.
