History
Established in 1938.
In 1938 Kikujiro Mano needed a greenhouse to grow produce and flowers for his booth at the Pike Place Market. He searched for a site with full sun, good air circulation and access to distribution sources. and found Earlington Estates. Here, on a four acre site, he established Mano’s Earlington Greenhouse.
Tosh Mano worked along side his father through the years and in 1950 he and his wife Tomi took over the business. They followed growing trends carefully over the years – Easter lilies, cut mums and poinsettias were the backbone of their trade. In the 70’s bedding plants, fuchsias, geraniums as well as houseplants became popular. The growing diversified.
In 1995 the Manos, were ready to retire, then landscaper Paul Farrington stopped by for just the right container plant. He saw the opportunity to fulfill a lifetime dream, and teaming up with business partner Ron Minter, entered into a new world of greenhouse growing and operating a retail garden center. And the tradition continues.
