Metropolitan Sewer Service saved us from a huge unnecessary expense! I had hired another company to add a clean out access pipe to the main sewer line. That other company told me that a repair to the main line must be done be done «sooner vs later» and said it would cost major $$$, but could not recommend anyone do the work (they didn’t have the proper equipment).
I contacted several companies to get quotes and the ONLY one who called me back was Metropolitan Sewer Service. They scheduled an appointment quickly, arrived on time and without charge, told us that doing an expensive repair would only be temporary and would likely reoccur in a year, so better to pay for annual clean-​out service (tree roots) at $ 400 vs. a complete overhaul at $ 10,000+++

Metropolitan Sewer Service saved us from a huge unnecessary expense! We had hired another company to add a clean out access pipe to the main sewer line. That other company made a video of the main sewer line and then used the video to try to convince us to add a liner.
We paid $ 8,000 for the first job. The (nameless) other company quoted $ 13,000 for the second job.
We told them we wanted to get another bid. Then they pressured us, saying they would be filling up the excavation hole the next day if we did not accept their bid and took the video of the sewer line with them when they left for the day!
We quickly called other plumbing companies and, very fortunately, one of those we called was Metropolitan Sewer Service. They came immediately. Without charge, they made another video of the sewer line and showed us that the pipe was completely normal. Saving us from a completely unnecessary $ 13,000 job.

I highly recommend this team for your side sewage issues. I’ve had them clear three blockages (one my fault!) and two spot repairs on broken pipes. The last experience has prompted me to write this as it was a classic scenario of one company wanting to charge $ 6k and Metropolitan charging $ 2.7k.
Upon cleaning one of the blockages Metropolitan identified a broken pipe approx 4 feet from from house and potentially under a concrete path. Dennis informed me that it needed attention soon. I couldn’t really afford it at the time so I waited and sure enough it backed up again, about a year later. I had Metropolitan come and clear it out with a view to repair and the quote was $ 2.7k, and I was only charged half price for the clear out! But I thought I’d get another quote and sure enough I was told the concrete path would definitely have to come up and the charge was $ 6k! So rather than a third quote I had Parnell (owner) come and evaluate his colleges first quote, I was concerned that the price would change if he had to dig up the path, but he assured me that his quote was guaranteed and if they had to break concrete then that would be his teams problem and not mine. Sure enough he had a team there at 8am the next day and they were done within a few hours, they left the hole covered over night until city inspection was complete and put everything back exactly how they found it. They scoped out the rest of the line put in a clear out and sent me a copy of report and permit.
I think Metropolitan Sewer offer a great service. Affordable pricing which gives me the confidence to call them again and trust them. Friendly crews who are polite and hard working and communicate well.

Yep as good as it gets! We had experienced sewer problems in the past and gotten photos and quotes But it was hard for us to swallow a $ 15,000 quote to dig a hole, run a camera and insert a a liner.. . Soooo we waited a year and yes we ran into a big problem. Our sewer had a major clog and failed.
Our neighbor had previously hired Metropolitan Sewer and was happy with them. But he is such an easy going guy, his reccomendation didn’t really count. So, I went after bids from three recommended companies, Metropolitan, Raymark and Budget. Metropolitan was the quickest response. We were desperate and went with them to unplug the sewer. But we were determined to bid out the repair and lining of the sewer. The bid from Metropolitan was so good that we decided to go with them. $ 7,000 including unclogging the original problem.
Besides by that time, I met four employees of Metropolitan who had dug two vertical 9 foot grave shaped holes with a tunnel in between. Incredibly nice guys, all good friends, a pair of brothers, a cousin and a «best friend». The four had worked varying lengths of times (years) for Parnell, the owner. They liked Parnell. I can’t remember seeing such sincere honest appreciation for a boss.
The liner was done by a subcontractor who also was very nice. But this repair and installation of a new liner went to 10 days. Each night I got an update from Metropolitan about sewer usage. Some days we were able to the use washer/​dishwasher, other days just toilets/​shower etc. it was jjust a very pleasant experience for a miserable situation. One night my husband had several questions. He called Parnell who answered the phone (twice) and got his answer.
Metropolitan had arranged a Seattle City inspection.
I would highly recommend this company as long as Parnell is the owner. He is fair, and respected by both his employees and his customers.

I am sure these guys are great at sewer repair, but I wouldn’t call them for a plumbing issue.
When I called them it was unclear to me what kind of issue I had: Sewer or Plumbing, since it had to do with getting sewage pumped to the city system. It turns out it was a plumbing issue.
The guy they sent had never worked with plumbing before — he admitted it when he opened the cover and said «This is out of my league». By just pure luck the issue seemed to go away when he was here, but it was back within a few hours. I eventually had to get an experienced plumber to replace a burned out ejector pump and check valve.
They ended up charging me for the house call (equivalent of nearly $ 500/​hour) even though the guy literally did nothing except look in the hole and spray some water. I understand I need to pay for someone’s time — but when the person they sent admitted he didn’t know what he was doing with a system like mine, I figured they cut a customer and Unilocaler a break.
Two stars for friendliness… and because he said he felt bad for charging me when he left.

I recently purchased a house with a sewer scope inspection. The report showed that the side sewer line had a blockage 8′ from the house (4′ deep). Fortunately, the sewer line was not backed up and I had time to do the repair. As such, I contacted several contractors and found Metropolitan Sewer to be the most thorough in their proposal and the least expensive (nearly $ 1K less than the highest bid). Their workers showed up at the job site as agreed upon and, if they could not make it on time, they will call me in advance and let me know.
They did the job in four steps/​visits:
1) Dig up the dirt to expose the broken sewer pipe.
2) Replace the broken piece with PVC pipe and a cleanout riser to surface grade.
3) Obtain approval from the City inspector for the repair work. (a video inspection of the remaining side sewer was also performed during this visit in order to give me ‘a peace of mind’)
4) Perform (again) a video inspection of the remaining side sewer line and record it on a thumb drive, and back-​fill the pit and restore the lawn to its original condition.
Parnell (one of the owners) came and did the last two steps himself. And I was quite impressed by his knowledge and professionalism.

Great company, great service, great value!
Our main line backed-​up into the basement, we had to call an emergency plumber to get water to start flowing again. Turns out, there was a break in the main line, about 4ft out from our house. The emergency plumber quoted us over $ 4000 to fix the break! I called a couple more companies when I came across Metropolitan Sewer, they were quick to come out and give us a quote (in fact, they were a little early for their schedule time slot), very friendly and definitely knew what they were talking about. Their quote was less than half the quote from the other guys!
I was especially concerned because the break was very close to our Japanese Maple tree and I really did not want the tree to get hurt. The other companies (including the original plumbers) did not seem to care about the tree. I was about ready to dig it up myself! Metropolitan Sewer was very understanding about the tree and said they would work around it.
Metropolitan Sewer did a great job! You can hardly tell they dug a huge hole in our front yard, the ground looked so undisturbed! I will always recommend these guys to our friends, family and neighbors now!

Just when I gave up all hope that honest businesses DO exist out there, I found Metropolitan Sewer. Dennis came out with really short notice, and gave me an HONEST appraisal about what was going on — Some other plumber/​sewer service could really have stuck it to us. We have not had work done yet, but just could not wait to give a shout out here, and a well deserved 5-​star rating for service!

There is a bit of a disclaimer to his, as Metropolitan didn’t actually end up doing any heavy labor work for us, however I wanted to just pop in on their page to give a thumbs up.
We had an emergency broken sewer line (completely backed up into the house) and based on a recommendation from our drain cleaner (who couldn’t fix the problem, as they only offer roto services) we called Metropolitan. They came out right away. Dennis located the broken pipe and spent the time writing our estimate and talking us through it. However, after checking with their office, they realized they wouldn’t be able to take such a big job as quickly as we needed. They made some other recommendations to us.
That is all great, but the real reason I’m reviewing is that they took the time to call us the next day to make sure we were taken care of and to see if we needed any more recommendations or help. AND they didn’t charge us for the service call or mapping out the lines and running the locator beacon. In short we really felt like we mattered to them, even though they didn’t make a dime off of us. It’s the small business type service that is often overlooked these days. We really appreciate your help, Metropolitan Sewer Service!
PS — forgot to mention — their quote was very reasonable and right in line with the other quotes we scouted for.

We had a major job, we knew it would be expensive. We had several bids, and we chose Metropolitan. I honestly can tell you their experience, work ethic, and value are beyond compare.
We got their number from friends that are real estate agents and contractors and they would not even recommend any other company.
We had Patrick and Scott work on the sewer but honestly the company is run so well that you cannot go wrong. Darnell bid the job he might be the owner, very honest and professional.
I will never need them again in this house, it is good to go for another 50 years, but if you need to have your sewer repaired, you will not go wrong with this company.

They were recommended to me. We made an appt for them to come out. Showed up on motorcycles on the wrong day. Tried again and they never showed up. Maybe they are doing better now?

These guys have done two jobs for us including replacing our main sewer line from the sidewalk out to the city main. I knew nothing about sewer’s when I started this process and I know more than I want to know now. I got three estimates for the main sewer line replacement and the one from Met was the clearest. It included the permits, all materials, the street repair and labor… because of this, at first glance the other two companies appeared to have lower estimates but after making them update their estimates to include all the components, all three came in within $ 250 of each other. The only thing Metropolitan’s estimate didn’t say was what would happen if pipe bursting failed so I asked them and they told me (in writing) that they would cover the difference in cost if they had to do a traditional trench repair. They showed up on time, did what they said they were going to do and there were no extra, surprise costs. The bill was exactly what the estimate had said. I asked them to send me a copy of the city inspection and they did. I would highly recommend this company.

We had a drain problem at our house, which I assumed was roots or blockage due to the age of the sewer line and the time of year. Originally I contacted Jim Dandy because they did a repair job when we bought the house and their card was in the «junk drawer». That should have been an omen… In any case, they said we needed to replace the entire sewer line ($ 13k), as did Beacon ($ 9.4k), so I decided I needed to get an opinion from a Unilocal super-​star. I called up Metropolitan Sewer, who made a same-​day appointment to give us an estimate. They didn’t show! Not even a phone call. The next day I called them around noon, trying to figure out what was wrong and after some confusing time on the phone, they said they would send another guy out to look at the line.
Upon arrival, I told him there was a video of the line on youtube, so he decided not to video the line himself, and then I showed him the flags where the curves and down-​spouts were, along with depths. He quoted me $ 15,000 for the main sewer repair/​replacement and another $ 5 – 6000 to fix Jim Dandy’s botch job from the previous «repair». He then said they could line the whole thing, but they would have to dig several other holes and it would cost 2 – 3000 per hole! (We are up to about $ 26k at this point) All-​in-​all, he was gone in under 10 min and has not returned any emails inquiring about an official estimate, nor did I receive an official estimate on-​site, snail mail, or email.
My initial reaction when he showed up was good, as he was the ONLY sewer service company who has shown up with a proper sewer line diagram for the house from the city. To say the least, I was very hopeful to work with them. I’m not sure if they are just busy or if this is how they always do business, but they seem to be dropping the ball from the get-​go. It’s been almost 2 weeks now without a word. *shrug*

These guys are GREAT. I had an issue where my toilet wasn’t flushing and water was coming up through my bathtub drain. I called a plumber and described the issue, but he told me I needed to call a sewer company. I found Metropolitan Sewer Service on Unilocal with good reviews and gave them a call. They came out (Jason and another person), spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out the problem, only to find out it was a plumbing issue with the pump. They referred me to a good plumber and told me they wouldn’t charge me for the visit since they didn’t fix anything.
Other companies I called include a $ 50 fee just for coming out to the house, plus a rate for each quarter-​hour of time they spend. Metropolitan Sewer charges for the work they actually do, and not the length of time it takes them. If I ever do have a sewer problem, I will definitely call these guys!

I own a home in Seattle and my 4″ conc. side sewer pipe cracked/​broke due to age. The break was on City of Seattle right of way, under the City sidewalk, just outside my property boundary. Sewer repair work on City of Seattle property must be done by a registered side sewer contractor (
). I got bids from several registered contractors. Metropolitan was not only the lowest bid (by half of the highest bid) but Jason was the nicest and easiest person to work with. Also, the price seemed reasonable to me given the nature of the work. I felt the other contractors were trying to take advantage of my situation. Jason came to my house same day and provided a bid later in the day. I wanted to add cleanouts for future pipe inspection and he did without increasing price. The repair crew, Dennis and Scott came a couple days later, after Jason got the permit, to start work. They were super nice, worked very hard, had to remove City sidewalk and dig down 8 feet and under a concrete wall on my property. They were careful not to remove any more sidewalk than needed to get to the broken pipe. Within two days they had finished the repair, had passed City inspections and backfilled. Within 5 days (had to wait a couple days due to weather) the new section of sidewalk was poured. I requested use of gravel backfill under the retaining wall to prevent future settlement and they went and got some gravel and spent extra effort placing and compacting the gravel to address my concern. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with their responsiveness, customer service, price, flexibility, everything!

I am a real estate agent and I use Metropolitan Sewer frequently for bids as well as refer them to my customers for sewer work. They consistently come in lower than the competition and their service and response time is far superior. I wish I didn’t have to deal with so many broken sewer lines but when I do I am happy to be able to call these guys. Ask for Jason or Parnell.

This company came highly recommended from several friends and neighbors. They replaced our collapsed sewer ilne within 3 days and cleaned up our yard so it looked better than when they started. The crew that came were incredibly nice, polite and good at what they do. I highly recommend you call them if you are having trouble with your sewer. I am a real estate agent and will recommend them to all my clients wihout hesitation.

Unbelievable service, employees, and the supervisor, Parnell is a gem. I am a real estate broker who deals with sewer systems all the time when either my buyer is buying or the seller is selling and there is a sewer scope. Most recently, I have used Metropolitan Sewer Service. On both of the jobs I have been involved with, Metropolitan stayed with their bid amount even though they ran into additional problems. I cannot say enough nice things about them. Their employees are polite and explain things as they go along, and then clean up after themselves. You would not know they had been there. THE BEST.

We had these guys come to work on our 80 year old side sewer pipes. I was pleased with the service and honest job well done. We went with them because they not only gave us the lowest bid but because the estimate they gave was very clearly detailed.
The crews showed up on time every day and the week-​long sewer project interrupted our life very minimally, if you can believe it. Any questions or concerns I had were answered by the workers. I thought they were knowledgable and overall nice guys.
Today I received the bill and the inspection results, no surprises. And our sewer leaks that we are having is so far fixed! They guarantee the job for two years, which is very nice.
Cons are that the person who came to do our estimate and set up the job was not the person who did the job. I never saw him again, ever. They could have done a better job cleaning too.
