Meander’s went through a rough patch a few months ago and had to replace most of their staff. We stuck with them the whole time, and the first few weeks with the new staff was bumpy to say the least. But they are pulling through it and back to their old, delicious selves!!! The new servers are now fully trained and confident, and the food comes out perfect. This is my favorite brunch spot in Seattle and I was so worried they were going to close!

Had brunch at Meander’s this morning and it was delicious. I had an omlette with smoked salmon, capers, and goat cheese and boy was it yummy. They also delightfully have sweet potatoes hash browns, and as a hater of standard potatoes, this is a big deal for me. They were tender, crisp, and flavorful. But I think the real standout was the biscuit. A little bit chewy on the outside and so soft and buttery inside. They had a few technological issues while I was in but the servers were very sweet and apologetic about it and even gave me a free biscuit. c: we will be back as there are some other things on the menu that I would like to try.

My husband and I used to come here regularly, wait for hours, and still love it. However, recently it’s been inconsistent and disappointing. Eggs are the most basic breakfast thing you could order… I like mine over easy. The last three times I ordered them that way they were dry and hard and rubbery. Not impressed. I stopped ordering eggs, because I like Meanders and don’t always have to have them. Switched to pancakes and they were burnt and raw at the same time. As far as service goes, it’s just okay. Nothing spectacular. The place is kind of dirty and in disrepair. A hipster paradise. Their policies on no substitutions are also a problem for me, due to food allergies. It’s just weird that a restaurant(a customer-driven business) wouldn’t want to give the customers what they want. Customers are what keep them open, not strict no tolerance policies. I’ll go back I’m sure, because it takes me awhile to completely write a place off, however not anytime soon.

OMG Breakfast ’til 3pm! We had the BEST corned beef hash & eggs EVER! Homemade ketchup? Shut up! After a LONG12 day Biz trip, my Hunny picked me up from the airport and we went straight to this place! Lorraine was delightful! Nomnomnomnomnom… funky décor — as in good Seattle vibes, baby. I’m hip & cooler just being here, yo.

Not going back!!! Waited 40mins. French toast was undercooked. The description on the menu and the actual food we got were very different… Portion of the food was very small too… disappointed…

So… we stopped by today. The punk house hash and the«this n that» were undercooked. My vegetables in the punk house hash were crunchy, while some vegetables were burnt. Who knew it was possible to undercooked and burn them? One bite had something hard that was unchewable. The wait was long. The waitress while very nice had a front rotten tooth, which is well unappetizing. And seriously, I usually don’t care about appearances… but with lower quality ingredients, undercooked food, long wait, it’s not worth it. So, we won’t be returning… I am sad that after all the changes, it slid downhill.

The food was mostly simple and to the point. I wanted chicken and waffles that I’d seen here on Unilocal– but that isn’t an option right now. My dish was not the flavor combo I expected but still tasty. My friend requests a poached egg but received a boiled one instead. Corned beef is very good. I will go back to try some items without hollandaise on the them but I definitely wouldn’t wait in line. Waiter says they are in the process of rebuilding.

This place is right by my house so that awesome. Some days the wait is very long. Last time we went it wasn’t too bad but they looked like they were very under staffed. One host and server and one chef. Took 10 min just to get acknowledged to get a table. The food took like 25 min to get there. I got the corned beef with hash, I liked it. My husband got the shrimp grits. We both liked it but one of the shrimp was blue and raw. He didn’t say anything becuase he doesn’t like to complain. Besides that they were very friendly and it’s a real laid back place. I would go back but hopefully no raw food next time.

This place has gone down hill. Slow service and the food quality has slid for sure. The biscuits are way smaller and they don’t serve their own ketchup anymore. I love this place but it’s lost its charm!

This place was awful. We came here because of the review, and it was not what we expected at all, we ordered the Lil bit and it was definitely a little bit, one piece of bacon„ one egg, one french toast and 2 strawberry. That was $ 9!!! So not worth it. The french toast was soggy! Yes soggy! Like it was given to us just after they soaked it in the batter, the chef says that is how its suppose to be but gave us a more well done one, which was just a little better. The quality was not there. The amazing biscuit and gravy was nothing special. Im pretty sure i can get better biscuit at mcdonald. Overall, not a good place and i would not come back at all. They are getting the one star cause of the service which was ok

If you’re a fan of gravy, this is a place for you. The service was lovely and it felt nice and homey. Everything on the menu looked delicious, but I was definitely pleased with my choice of biscuits and gravy. Definitely a drive, but well worth it.

Crazy delicious shrimp and grits. Full stop. But wait, there’s more: delicious food, high quality ingredients, fun folks. This may be one of the best breakfasts in town(at least South/Southwest/Burien). But do not go if you are high maintenance, intolerant, or impatient. But then again, if you’re that, you’re likely not hanging out in White Center anyway.

Lovely and attentive staff. Very LGBTQA friendly and appropriately themed décor. The food was delicious. I loved this place, and will be back. The chicken and waffles is a weekend thing, so definitely don’t hold off on ordering that when you can.

While a bit of a drive from our house, Meander’s Kitchen is well worth the trip. We’ve been here three times now, and walked out very pleased each time. Meander’s, located smack dab in downtown White Center, is a comfy no-frills casual restaurant with warm, friendly, knowledgeable and quick service. I’ve heard the wait for a table here can be something fierce on the weekend, but the times we came here, mid-morning and mid-afternoon, we were seated quickly. I think when all is said and done, I like their shrimp grits the best. The flavors are incredible. Actually I would have to say, pretty much everything on the menu looks tempting. The style is Southern cooking. If you have been to Muscadine in Portland(another one of my new favorites), you’ll know what I mean. Meander’s plump biscuits are awesome on their own. Couple those biscuits with gravy, and ta da! You’ve got yourself a meal. I’m also a big fan of their ham and eggs. They serve the ham with a gravy made with coffee and butter. Yum! We certainly will be back. A couple of notes: it is cash only(but there’s an ATM in the restaurant). On the other hand, you will be able to find street parking only a few footsteps from the restaurant.

Another new ind that’s in my haunt, but worth the drive to White Center if your in Seattle and don’t mind a bit of road trip. And to make it worth it, they have the best biscuits and gravy I’ve had since moving to Seattle. The gravy is pure southern charm without anything fancy added to make it Seattle trendy that’s just about perfect. Nestled in the center business district of White Center, Meander’s is a quaint diner with those old booths where you sink into them, a couple of large tables for groups and a few more tables for two. Not a big place, can be packed in the morning as breakfast is their speciality. I’d come early as by 9am it’s packed and there’s going to be some waiting on the weekends. The menu is hardy were everything is going to fill you up and the coffee is flowing here with bottomless cup of coffee. There’s so much to eat on the menu it’s going to take me quite a few times to try the menu. But, let me say my gauge of a breakfast is the gravy and as I said at the start it’s great gravy and home made biscuits. Have a big appetite when you come here.

We met up with our friends for a late«brunch» here after a night of drinking and gorging at Bar Cotto. When they suggested it, of course I went to Unilocal to check it out even though we were already on our way there. I’ll admit I didn’t read a single review, but I did flip through quite a few photos, which immediately got me excited to get there and eat. Before I forget, this place is cash only. They do have an ATM, but I was the jackass that put that sucker out of order today with my withdrawal. This place is a dive for sure, but it’s a freaking fantastic one. They brew Herkimer coffee, which is the same kind they brew at CC bakery — it’s . One look at the menu should tell you there’s a southern theme — biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, beignets, and more. The scrambles also seem pretty popular, but none of us got one. I’m a chicken and waffles fiend — have you seen how many check ins I have at Nates? So that’s what I finally decided on — after considering the eggs benny, the CYO scramble, and the chicken and a biscuit. I went with the sausage gravy on the side because, well, it sounded delicious. Guess what, I freaking loved it! I added a side of cheese grits because I imagined that they’d have a pretty delectable spin on them and I was not disappointed. The service is friendly and the food is good, the only thing stopping me from giving them the fifth star was my coffee mug, which was dirty and had a chip in it — seriously though, everything was so good I’m sitting here now thinking about adding it. Bottom line, I expect if we’d been here earlier there would have been longer of a wait, but we were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Oh, and you may be wondering the reason for the quotes around brunch. They don’t serve boozy brunch drinks — so it’s really just a [divinely delicious] breakfast place that’s open until 3.

If you’re not into a casual, punk house feel, I’d pass this place up. It’s super chill and no-frills. The staff seems like they’re able to be themselves and say whatever they want, and that translates into a level of comfort and happiness that I don’t feel with some restaurants. The food is really great. There’s a lot of variety and a lot of vegan options. There are also a lot of gluten free options, though not explicitly stated. The wait can get long on weekends, but it really is worth the wait. The food is fantastic. Between this place and Crawfish House, white center is fast becoming one of my favorite spots to eat. I had the B&I omelet, and it was seriously one of the best omelettes I’ve ever had. I’m excited to try the oatcakes when I’m not limiting my carb-intake. I will be back!

A bunch of us stopped in yesterday for brunch and let me say that I am glad I waited to write this review because they definitely earned it. A while back the boyfriend and I were looking for new places to try in West Seattle and some of our friends/neighbors kept telling us to check out Meander’s Kitchen in White Center. He ended up going there on a Tuesday morning with his friends and ended up taking advantage of their Biscuits and Gravy special. He fell in love with the food and kept asking me to check it out, but when we finally did I was in too much of a hurry so we ended up placing our order to go. When I got home I wasn’t impressed at all with the food or the portions. Yesterday was a different story! We arrived there(with plenty of time to stay) and the wait time was about 5 – 10 minutes but only because they didn’t have a table for four. The waitress was super nice and kept checking in with us to let us know she was working on it. Meander’s Kitchen is super laid back and not your fancy brunch kind of place. I ordered a mimosa and the waitress apologized because they don’t serve it, but she said I could have all the orange juice i wanted. I ended up getting coffee. Ok, so the food was absolutely delicious. I had the biscuits and gravy and the portion was big enough to feed two people. Everyone else at the table was extremely pleased with their food and of course the customer service. You can’t rate this place based on the venue. It’s a little spot trying to provide their customer with delicious food. I even told my friends that I felt like we were on a road trip and ended up at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere. That’s the feeling I got. If you live in West Seattle then you definitely need to stop by asap. If you’re somewhere else, I say it’s worth the drive.

Umm, yep. This is the best brunch I’ve had in a while. It’s located in a tiny red hole-in-the-wall storefront in on a somewhat industrial feeling shopping strip in White Center. Not exactly where I expected to find the breakfast place of my dreams… But do not let it’s appearance deter you!!! — the food here is quality. Vinyl table cloths, funky mismatched coffee mugs and quippy menu descriptions mean that either they have deliberately crafted the perfect I don’t care hipster truck stop vibe, or else this place has some legit culture. I’m leaning towards the latter, but either way, I’m a fan. The food is absolutely perfect. Somewhere in the middle on the greasy spoon/down home — locavore/foodie spectrum with the best elements of each. We got the corned beef hash — corned beef was slow cooked, and the potatoes were legit. We opted to get it topped in sausage gravy, but you can get it without(though I don’t know why you would!). We also had the special«harvest hash» — brussels sprouts, apples, bacon, cheese — because bacon and veggies for breakfast is always a good thing. And the biscuit that came on the side was the softest, densest, butteriest biscuit I’ve ever had. I’m on board, Meander’s Kitchen. I’ll be back!

Wow! Came here on a recommendation with a friend. The place is totally funky inside. So hard to choose anything from the menu because everything looked so good. I got the Country Fried Steak and my friend got the Shrimp and Frits and if I had 2 stomachs, I would have ordered my own shrimp and grits because that cream sauce is like crack. Their biscuits are made in house as well as their jam and it’s delicious as well. Most importantly, CASHONLY. Definitely going to come back whenever I’m in Seattle again. I hope it’s soon.

Can’t poach an egg hard or put hollandaise sauce on the side. Really? Soft, greasey hash browns like Jermaine(Google: Chris Rock Jermaine). This dive is the perfect fit for the crappy area. Waffle House meets Seattle. GAH!
