When my Lyft request was accepted, the estimated time was 5 minutes. The driver took over five times the estimated time to get to us. He finally arrived at the pick-​up location and as he was slowing down, my friends and I started walking towards the car. My friend was reaching for the door handle when he sped off. I had already received the text saying my driver was here. He then went on to cancel the ride a few minutes later. I am furious because not only did that waste my time, but I tried to request another after that incident and prime time had just started. Everyone do yourself a favor and just use über.

If only there was a way to give zero stars. Trying to drive for them has been a waste of my time and money. I have VW 2010 Jetta Sportwagen that I purchased only 9 months ago from a dealer in mint condition. Have WA plates new tags a clean record drivers license and insurance. In January they tell me at Lyft in order to drive I need a vehicle inspection, copy of my drivers license, vehicle registration and proof of car insurance. I go to a Lyft event where inspections are being done for all new Lyft drivers. I provide for them all documentation they ask for and then am told I’ll also need a business license; 1 from the city of Seattle and 1 from the State of Washington. Since I had 4 hours to kill waiting for my inspection I purchased them both online from my phone. After finishing my inspection they tell me I passed and that I’m good to go. I should be able to drive in about 24 hours once they get my docs updated in the system. 1 weeks goes by and I decide to see why I still can’t drive. I get a response 4 days later saying we need copies of your business licenses from the city and state. I get those a couple weeks later send the PDFs and wait for their response. A week goes by and finally a Lyft employee responds saying «we received your documents hold tight!» A month goes by I send another couple emails in between wondering what’s going on. Nothing for 2 months, then I get a nice follow up survey asking me to tell Lyft how they are doing. Ha! So I tell them. A week later a new email apologizing for the delay and that my records indicate my inspection form is no good and is not on their list of city-​approved mechanics. Well that’s fantastic Lyft and thanks for the memories. It’s been quite an experience one that I will NEVER forget!

0 for 3. Über customer that decided to try Lyft. We were told Lyft was arriving only to receive a cancelation as we waited on the street. Called Über each time and had no issues.
3 times attempting to use Lyft, 3 times disappointed. The only reason i continued trying is they kept offering me credit. I have officially deleted the App and will go back to being a satisfied Über customer. LYFT=FAIL

I prefer this service over Über simply because I’ve had way more friendly drivers and I can tip them with my app/​card rather than worrying about carrying cash. It’s a great service that is Über’s #1 rival and, if you’ve had problems with Über in the past, maybe give Lyft a try. Not 100% of all drivers are the best ever, but you’re more likely to find a nice person with some personality on Lyft than you are on Über simply because it attracts local drivers better than the competition. Airport pro tip: If you need a ride from an airport, like Sea-​Tac where rideshare services are still not fully open to people in the depart/​arrival section, then either walk off of the airport grounds (if possible) or take a shuttle to a hotel or car rental area and then call your car. It’s merely a locked issue while your location shows up on the grounds of the airport and opens up completely to see drivers in the area once you’re off.

The roommate and I took Lyft back to our hotel on Monday, January 18^th. We were staying at the Hampton in Lower Queen Anne. I’d taken Über to Belltown, so I wanted to compare prices.
The ride from Some Random Bar in Belltown to our hotel ended up costing: $ 4 ride +$ 1.95 trust & service fee +$ 2 tip = $ 7.95. Ride prices are basically about the same as Über, but Über doesn’t have a tip option, so you save on the ride there. But if you don’t tip your Lyft driver, then prices are comparable. I ended up taking Über the majority of our trip because I feel bad if I don’t tip. If it’s not an option, then no guilt!
Great option for getting around Seattle. I found it weird they don’t have Lyft Line as I take it all the time in SF. Guess Seattle’s bigger, so that makes sense. When you can’t find a cab, Lyft is very convenient.

Was cool using them until I was ripped off on one of my rides today. After being dropped off at work, I noticed a few minutes later that the ride was still going as if I were in the car. Then I received an email receipt for 1. More than I thought it would be, 2. For longer than it took to get there and 3. Drop off location located on the receipt was NOT where I was dropped off. After emailing customer support (not happy they don’t have a phone number) they told me they couldn’t issue a refund, no reason given. I’m furious. Pretty sure this is fraud. I have absolutely no trust in this company anymore.

An unannounced 25 dollar «hold» on my bank card. Caused an overdraft on my account.
No where mentioned on the app. They mentioned their percentage more for busier times though. Man, this practice is not common knowledge. It has however made you common.
I actually own a business. I would never do my customers this way.

I have used lyft many times because they aren’t usually surging when über is. I am so sickened by the service after a MAJOR problem. My driver very late at night was going to sexually assault me and told me so. I had to scream until he pulled over to let me out on a freeway entrance. I have complained to lyft several times through several ways and have heard nothing after a week. Will NOT use them again.

This was my first time using Lyft and it was great. My driver was Yasin and he was really nice. He was picking me up from my home in Tukwila and driving me to Mercer Island. He was a tad late but repeatedly kept saying how sorry he was. Mentioned he got stuck in traffic by a head on collision of two cars. I was a little nervous at first when I first called him and he didn’t pick up and then it took him a little to reply to my text but I figure that was because he had other customers he was contacting. He also helped me a little bit with how to use the app. Overall, very friendly and very helpful. If it wasn’t for Yasin I wouldn’t have been able to get to my house-​sitting job and feed the animals I was taking care of!

Within 2 minutes of signing up with Lyft, I started getting marketing calls on my cell. NOT what I signed up for! Can’t rate the company for rides because I am deleting the app immediately. Bad Business Lyft!

It’s terrible. It’s cheaper than über, but it’s consistently bad service.
The drivers don’t know the directions, which causes them to overcharge you more, or not come to the right location («GPS took me there» they say. Quite frankly, I don’t care where the GPS took you).
They cancel rides on you without notifying you.
The estimates are always incorrect. When it says «2 min» it’s usually 5−8min. I’d rather see a longer wait than be disappointed the driver is not there.
I keep going back to it because it’s sometimes cheaper, but it’s bad all around.

Awful App and Zero Management support. I was looking at the app and mistakenly ordered a ride. So I pushed the cancel button but it did not work! It gave me an error message about not being able to cancel without a location. I called the driver — who was good about it — and they canceled, and then the app sent another driver, and another driver — 4 people were sent, Each time I called and they canceled for me.
I’m fighting to not have to pay for each cancellation there is NOBODY TO CALL — No office Nothing Just an email that is not returned yet Apparently the drivers are dinged somehow because they canceled not me.
Drivers are ok but the management and app suck.

I used to enjoy Lyft when they first launched in Seattle, but have come to find that they have absolutely horrible customer service. If you have any issues, good luck getting a response back. I’ve also had an array of issues with the drivers. I’ve been overcharged, charged a no show fee without receiving a phone call and taken on the most roundabout trip to a destination to name a few situations. Some of the drivers are just plain rude. Consider other services such as Sidecar or Über.

Only does Lyft plus 100% of the time. Even the $ 5 ride coupons aren’t worth it. Screw this company. Seriously, do not use it. East side for hire is much better. Flat rates and kind drivers.

I’ve also used Über (other cities), and my ride from SeaTac to my office in Ballard on Lyft was great. I requested the ride as soon as I hit the arrivals curb at SeaTac, and Moses accepted the ride. He called me to confirm my location, and within 5 minutes he was curbside putting my bags in the trunk of the car. I sat up front, and on our drive (approx. 45 minutes) we chatted and enjoyed the ride! His black Kia was clean and tidy.
The route he took was a little different than I expected, I had assumed he’d take the I5, but instead took something through Burien (or near it), then First Avenue along the water eventually coming out on Western/​Elliott Ave. It definitely didn’t have as much traffic but it was still slow-​ish. But, I still got to work by 10:45am so it wasn’t too bad!
Moses was a super friendly drive, and I felt safe at all times! Unfortunately my Lyft credit that I got was only valid in Orange County, so I did have to pay about $ 40, including tip, but I’m sure that was likely cheaper than a regular cab.

I learned about Lyft from my friend. I like it so much! The price is generally cheaper than Yellow cab and Über (I used to take both a lot). It tells you the estimated time the driver will arrive your location so you can get ready to wait at the door.
Drivers are very friendly! Their cars are clean. You will find it comfortable to sit in the car.
The only con is that Lyft gets really busy during rush hours. If you are in a hurry, make sure you spend extra time to allow the nearest available driver get to your location!

How does this business have four stars?
I got a coupon code for first time users ON THEIR WEBISITE. I entered it in. The code said that it expired. lol. Why do you have out dated information on your own company website?
I still ordered the lyft ride. The app said that he would be there within 7 minutes. Then, the app said that our driver had arrived. The problem was that there was no car in sight. I called the driver (Gulliat in a Toyota Camry Hybrid) and he said that he was there yet he gave me the wrong cross streets. I corrected him and gave him our cross streets. It wasn’t that hard. I asked him to enter this information onto his gps. He said okay.
1 minute later, I get a text message from Lyft stating that our driver had canceled our ride. He didn’t even give me the courtesy to tell me that he wasn’t going to come. This was totally unprofessional. It wasted our time where we had to stand outside for about 10 minutes in the cold waiting for him. My husband used über instead and literally two minutes later, the car was right in front of us. Über was so efficient that I thought the driver was the same Lyft driver. Nope.
Take Über instead. They are reliable and not that expensive. At least they don’t falsely advertise and deliver in a timely manner in regards to their service.

Recieved a Lyft promotional card for a free ride up to $ 25, and was unable to use it. The card had no «small print» or expiration date.
After emailing Lyft support, they indicated «after Nov 1^st all promotional codes changed to $ 10». I let them know the card I received notated no such stipulation, not was it an old card (I got it a week before thing to use it– in December, long after they indicated the prices changed).
Lyft refuses to allow me, as a first time user, to use my full promo code, and it’s totally false advertising.
I subsequently attached a photo of the back and front of the card, to which I recieved the same canned response (for those who haven’t worked in customer service, a «canned response» is a pre formatted email created by marketing in conjunction with corporate, legal, etc.)
I then wrote back indicating I will write, via US Postal Service, to their corporate offices for terrible service when I wasn’t even able to get a ride. In addition, I will be contacting the BBB regarding this issue.
If companies want to change their codes, fine, but they really should do a better job on their cards, such as utilizing small print stating promo may change, or giving it an expiration date in the event they want to change the code.
If they can’t spare an additional $ 15 for first time users of their service– people who could go on to use it more and will share their experiences (as I am right now), then why would I want to bother with them.
Lyft, you suck.

So I can’t believe I am writing this review as I am someone who hasn’t taken a taxi in years and has only been using Über here in Seattle since 2012. My husband and I usually take the Link to and from the airport, as it is cheap and convenient but coming in on a Sunday night flight (arriving at 11:20 pm) the link doesn’t go all the way into the city at that hour so it was onto the next plan.
I have taken Über to/​from the airport and it has cost me $ 75 one way which is insane! This night I wasn’t wanting to spend a pretty penny to get home but wanted a quick and easy way to get back to the city. I decided to download the app while waiting to depart the plane, added in my card information and quickly requested a Lyft as we were getting close to baggage claim. We had to wait 6 minutes for our driver which is pretty great on a Sunday night around midnight. We went from the airport to downtown for only $ 28. That was a great price. Even with a tip it was less than half the price of an Über!
I will definitely be using Lyft now as I can’t believe how great of a price it was and how easy and convenient it was to use!
