I recently went to Loyal for the first time and was really let down by the customer service. My vehicle was letting off a moderately sized cloud of thick grey smoke every time I started it up, it needed an oil change, and the back left side tire was leaking. When I called to make an appointment I was instructed to drop my van off Tuesday morning. They said they’d look at it first thing. They open at 8am (and I had dropped the van off the night before) so when I didn’t hear anything from them by 12:30pm I decided to call. No one picked up. Maybe they were out to lunch or working on the vehicle. I left a message inquiring what they had found so far, and asked that they would call me back. Over an hour later I had still heard nothing. So I called back again. This time someone picked up, but he was rude and completely unhelpful. Not only had my vehicle not been looked at yet, they weren’t even sure that they would get to it that day. Obviously annoying. I asked that he please call me either when they started working on it or before they close (5pm) if they weren’t going to get to it because I would just come pick it up and take it somewhere else. Having not heard anything by 4:30pm I called back. This time it was a much nicer man, who said that they did get to it (no one called me to let me know though) and that they’d need to keep it over night. The oil had been changed, the tire had a nail in it but they don’t do any tire work at all, but the smoke issue would involve more work to pin-​point the issue. I was fine with that.
The next day I kept waiting to hear from them again. Nothing. So I call them around 2pm to see what was up. The nicer man picked up the phone. He said they couldn’t find any real issues. They had removed the spark plugs to see whether or not there was oil or coolant leaking, but there wasn’t. He listed a few other things, but essentially we landed on an «I don’t know».
Soooo, after all of this poor communication and waiting, I ended up paying $ 75 (that doesn’t include the money for the oil change) to be told jack about my vehicle. What a huge waste of time and money.

Taking my car to the shop — even for something little — is one of my least favorite things in the world. I always assume that I’ll get screwed over, charged double what I get quoted, etc. So when my «check engine» light went on, I was just as thrilled as could be.
Unilocal led me to Loyal Automotive — and I’m so glad! I called in the morning, explained the situation, and asked if they might be able to check it out the same day. They were glad to assess the problem, and then repair it either today or schedule a later appointment depending on the extent of the problem (transparent, reasonable!). One of the mechanics kindly came over the instant I arrived, ran some diagnostics, and suggested what she though was the problem. Within a few short minutes (really!), the part was ordered, Eddie provided a quote, and they told me I’d be able to pick it up the same day (I requested to add on an oil change/​routine service too!).
When I came to pick up my car, the mechanic kindly explained everything (including showing me the failed part), reviewed the invoice with me (guess what — the price I was quoted earlier was ACCURATE!!), and I was on my way!
I really couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They were quick, transparent, reasonable, explained everything, professional, and awesome people! This is an awesome shop, and I will definitely be back here next time my car gets angry at me. I rarely write reviews on Unilocal,but when you have a GREAT experience with a car mechanic — it’s definitely warranted.

Just got a simple oil change, tire rotation, and basic inspection after my road trip. Nothing too big or involved, but these folks were pretty great. They’re all mad chill and very transparent (none of the stand-​offishness that you sometimes get with mechanics). I also loved that they weren’t all guys, and most, if not all, were younger (20s/​30s).
I’ll be back again when I need car work.

If I were a child, I would definitely draw these guys one of those giant colorful thank you cards for you to hang on the shop’s wall. But, I am an adult, so I am going to write a Unilocal review. Next best thing.
I brought in my Honda CRV Friday for a simple oil change and to check on a rattle. To spare the details, it quickly turned into a huge investigative mess trying to figure out why the check engine light was coming on even after the part in question had been changed. This has been an ongoing issue for me for a couple of years and NO MECHANIC has been able to figure out why the light is on. Eddie and his team at Loyal Automotive not only worked very very hard to find out what the problem was, they updated me along the way, and explained every detail (in the most layman’s terms to accommodate my severe lack of car knowledge) SO joyfully literally every step of the way. In the end, they were able to find the issue, which is amazing in itself. They even stayed over 2 hours late on a Friday to help out — WHAT?! I know. I was blown away, too.
I’ve been taken for a ride lots of times with auto mechanics because I don’t know about cars, but Loyal Automotive was amazing, and I totally trusted them to be honest with me, honest about prices, and honestly do the best they could. They worked so so extremely hard on my pill of a car, and I am very grateful for them and their service. I even made a Unilocal account specifically to review their awesome service — which I obviously never do.
I will be driving from far and wide to make sure I am able to go to Loyal Automotive for lots of years to come. Everyone else should, too. Trust me, you will not regret it.

After seeing the good scores this little shop in my neighborhood had received, I took my 1994 Toyota pickup here last week, as it had been experiencing persistent problems with the cooling system. Loyal Automotive was great with me from the start, from making appointments on the phone all the way through to getting my truck back.
After I dropped it off and talked through the symptoms it had been experiencing, I got a call a few hours later with a full diagnosis of the problem, which Eddie explained in pretty clear details, and in a way that was perfectly consistent with the way it had been acting and its recent repair history.
Eddie talked me through a few options on replacing the radiator, which was leaking and about to yield to old age, and we settled on a practical option. He quoted me a price over the phone that was several hundred dollars cheaper than I was afraid it would be, and also gave me a timeline that was realistic given that they needed to order a pretty substantial part.
The repair was done the next day, on schedule, and when I went to pick it up, Eddie charged me exactly what he had quoted me (which frankly hasn’t always happened when I’ve taken my truck to a dealer or shops elsewhere!). My truck has been running perfectly (or, as perfectly as a 21-​year old heap ought to run) ever since.
So nice to have this shop close by! It’s got a nice retro vibe to it too, without being over the top.

Chances are, you’re in a bind. You’re looking for car repair shops and have had one or more bad experiences with them in the past. Me too. You need a referral to a fair, and honest shop with zero shady factor. Let me refer you. Loyal is that shop. I’ve had my car there a few times. I fully trust this shop and owner Eddie and am super grateful for the referrals I received to head there. I’ve had a battery replaced to transition work done. My car is running like I can’t remember. Thank you Loyal.

These guys are awesome. I gave them a pain in the ass project and my baby is running like new. Been a couple months and nothing has gone wrong. Solid.

I finally found an honest mechanic! He fixed the mess made by the previous people (things not hooked up properly to the point of not being safe to drive) and was very upfront about what my car needed. He did not try to sell me extra stuff and kept to the stated timeline well. I most certainly will be back because of course, car repairs never end.

I took my car there in a panic after putting too much oil on it, rookie mistake! The owner was awesome and took care of the problem quickly, he even helped me with a few other things (bad taillight) without taking payment even though I offered. This instantly earned my trust, this shop could have easily taken me for a ride but didn’t even when I gave them a budget for troubleshooting my problem, I thought I was in for a blown head gasket! I’m definitely bringing my car back here.

This place is awesome! I took my car in a few weeks ago to see what needed to be done so that it was safe for when my daughter is born in a couple months. Eddie was super nice and nice honest. I didn’t feel pressured to get anything fixed that I didn’t want to, though I did have them fix it all!
They took it offsite for the alignment and it wasn’t done correctly. So a week later I called them up and Eddie took care of it and checked my breaks again! They were very flexible with my schedule and I feel like I got a good deal!
It’s always nice to find an auto shop that you feel like you can trust!

I’ve serviced my vehicles here several times. Every time the repairs were completed on time, as quoted and professionally handled. Loyal’s repair fees were very reasonable so the sting to the wallet was not too bad. What I truly appreciated was the no pressure sale mentality I’ve become accustomed too with other more well known garages. The most important reason I keep coming back is that I trust this place to give me quality service every time. And now I’ve become a Loyal customer. Keep up the good work!

These guys are simply the best! They are everything good you would want from a mechanic! Honest, trustworthy, fast and affordable! Plus they are open Saturdays, which a lot of places aren’t! I have never gotten the run around here. If I didn’t need the work (or didn’t need it right away), they have been super honest about it, even if it meant they would be losing business. Their hourly rate is super competitive, and even about $ 10. cheaper than some places I initially called. I moved to South Seattle and will continue to take my 98 VW Beetle back to Ballard to see these guys because they are that great! Thanks for taking such good care of me and having such a high level of customer service! Cheers! :)

I am so glad these guys opened up around the corner. And before I objectify them and tell you that they’re good-​looking, I will commend their great customer service and professionalism. They were honest and charged us an extremely reasonable rate for our problem child (an ’82 VW Vanagon). And we’re very picky about our mechanics. We ended up trying them out because a few months back we had a slow leak and they were very kind and cheerful while they pumped air back in our tire even though we were not paying customers (we were on our way to get new tires). Aside from being friendly, the Vanagon is running better than ever and that’s what really matters.
Did I mention they were cute?

These young men are doing it right. Honest, reliable, and courteous. Their service estimates beat the competition handily and I have never been sold a part or service that I didn’t absolutely need. One example is a recent brake job they did for me. The competition worked in a brake fluid flush for $ 69.00 into their estimate for my car. Eddie of Loyal Automotive not only beat their core estimate by $ 150.00 but told me that my brake fluid was fine and didn’t need a change.
Loyal Automotive in Ballard is the only place our vehicles will be going in the future. You should give them a try next time you need an oil change or auto repair work done on your car.

Amazing shop! Incredible service, the mechanics are so down to earth and know their stuff. I have taken my car to get some work done and the prices were affordable. The service is great. Good to know there are good mechanics still in Seattle.

I took my 92 Accord I just snagged off of Craigslist for a full tune up /​inspection before a coast-​to-​coast road trip.
He was incredibly thorough (c’mon how many other mechanics do you know that remember to replace the rotor and spark plug cables too!), and didn’t miss a thing.
Same day turnaround! I’ve driven 4,000+ hard miles with zero problems.

I took my car in for an oil change and I was in and out in no time. No pressure in trying to sell me something or try and fix something I didn’t need like all the other places I have gone to.
I would defiantly recommend Loyal Automotive if you want quality and honesty in your mechanics.
This will be where I bring my car for now on.
