Locol Barley & Vine

My boyfriend and I live a couple blocks down and decided to try this place out because of the reviews. The restaurant is quaint and dimly lit. Very intimate and would be great place to take a date. However, the food is okay and the drinks are good but I found it a bit on the expensive side for the portions that we got.

Nice venue, friendly staff, but food could be better, especially compared to the price. We ordered the entrees. The lambshank ($ 24) was very overcooked and started to be dry. Side of polenta was massive and the mushrooms lacked taste. Mussels ($ 17) in coconut broth were very pricey at with 10 pieces in the bowl, small side of (soft) baked chips and spinach.

This is the best neighborhood bar I’ve ever been to. It’s close to my house in West Seattle, but I would drive a lot further to go here. This place is the quintessential neighborhood bar. The bartenders are always, always friendly and treat you like you are old friends. The food is absolutely excellent. The beer selection rotates and is always top notch. One of my favorite pluses about this place is that there is not one television screen anywhere. In the summer, (or when it’s not absolutely freezing outside) the back patio is also very cozy and delightful. My favorite place in West Seattle and possibly the entire city of Seattle. I give it my highest recommendation.

This is probably one of my top 5 meals in Seattle to date. Came in here totally by coincidence, but it will never be a coincidence again. It’s probably a 40 minute drive from my place, and it’s worth every second. The food was incredible. I was seriously blown away. They have a rotating menu, but when I went, I tried a spicy beef flatbread sandwich called El Santo Dura and their Beer Cheese Dip. They also had a wonderful saison on tap. Everything about everything was just killer.

My wife and I dropped in for Happy Hour last Saturday afternoon (11÷7÷2015) and we found the appetizers and drinks to be very pleasing. The service was exceptional, meaning we were allowed to enjoy our drinks and appetizers at our leisure. We look forward to our next visit.

Food ok, but giant mouthful of fat in my sandwich made me gag. Measured sound level averaged 78 dB, never less than 65. No coversation possible.

The first time I came here, I thought it was overpriced. But I realize now that was because I came from a less expensive state. The service is awesome even with one person running the whole bar and restaurant. Food has never disappointed, and is seasonal. We walked over here the second time because service at The Westy was so terrible. Love this bar, love the food, love the ever changing beers.

Can’t love this place enough-​from the local art on the walls to the seasonal menus, this place oozes a chill friendly neighborhood vibe. They have a killer happy hour, super friendly staff, and a qualified beer rotation. Cozy any time of the year-​recommend the back patio for romantic date nights

Air Conditioning cranked, awesome ceviche sandwich, great greens, friendly service & yummy beer. Perfect Summer lunch with the hubby.

The ambiance of this place is friendly, chill and have selection between outdoor or indoor. The waiter we had was nice and making sure we are okay. The food come in a proper order as well. I gave 4 star coz the food selection is very limited as well some of the food we order was bland. I enjoy the alcohol selection and they have a lot local product.

Amazing food! The pork sandwich is orgasmic and the tacos are great too. The waitress was pretty unfriendly but it was still a great experience.

Locol is tiny and it does get crowded, but it’s a great little place and I’m so glad that it’s within easy walking distance of where I live. I agree with other reviewers that arriving there early is the key to getting seated – otherwise there’s not much place to wait, especially if the bar is full. Also, if you go with a friend and plan to do a lot of catching up, be aware that Locol sometimes has live music and that can make conversation difficult.
The menu is simple and changes seasonally, but everything I’ve ordered has always been good. You might not even notice the small courtyard in back, but if the weather is nice, be sure to check it out. I wish West Seattle had more places like this sweet little hole in the wall!

I live close and come often. I support local places and really appreciate the experience here. The food is good and when it hasn’t been I’ve told them and wasn’t charged. That said for those that complain about seating. No hostess station = every man for himself. Great spot, small but well worth the wait.

I read some of the reviews from those who have given this place a less than, «stellar,» review — due to poor service mostly. I feel very sorry for those folks as I do not believe their experience is at all typical.
People, do yourself a favor — this is a very small place. GO EARLY. This place is frequented by a LOT of area residents who walk over, grab a bite and brew, then head on back home. Yes, it gets very BUSY at times. This is a densely packed residential neighborhood, and as I said, they have a LOT of regulars.
That said, I have NEVER had bad service here (and yes, I am one of their neighbors). Not all of their dishes are of equal quality, but these guys put their heart and soul into this place. No, they can’t satisfy everyone, but some of their sandwiches are killer!
The Cubano, the tuna sandwich, the mushroom bahn mi (when in season). These are fantastic, served with some mixed greens. Awesome! Grab a cider or a brew and you have a great meal. (try the soups too — very good… they make their own stocks, and they contain much depth of flavor)

I have been coming to Locol for about a year off/​on. I don’t drink too much beer and barely wine. I like Manhattans. BUT the beer here is awesome!!! I love dark beer or high alcohol percent. The happy hour is amazing! On some weeks of the night there is live music. It is not too loud. Chill. Can be romantic. Small but I can not wait to hang out in on the patio this summer!!! All the bartenders are great but Scott is amazing like the bar. He remembers people. Their drinks. He shares cool info about the bar and he’s knows beer. I enjoy chill Friday’s here and everyday happy hour two times a day tacos!

I tried it again and this time didn’t even get seated. We waited by the door for quite a while without even being acknowledged. I could tell that several tables were frustrated with the service including two who were trying to close up. I was almost ready to just give up right then and there but the server swing by and said it would just be a minute as she had a couple of tables leaving. The two tables did leave but no effort was made to bus either of them or seat us. Eventually, the bartender rudely told us to wait in back because it was going to be a while. I again considered just leaving but we had invested quite a bit of time and had a game to keep us busy if we could just get one of those empty tables! Another couple walked in and was obviously deciding which unbussed table to seat themselves at so my husband walked over and kindly let them know were already waiting. They seated themselves anyway and the server IMMEDIATELY walked over and bussed and cleaned their table!!! Totally outrageous. That was it. We were out for good.
There are plenty of highly competent people out of work willing to work for minimum wage plus tips and be grateful for it so I’m not sure why they continue to settle for rude and incompetent staff.

This is the second time we got horrible service. Waited by the front door to be seated for several minutes. Fine, they’re busy. Server told us it would be just a minute as tables were clearing up. Bartender told us to wait in the back because it would be a while. As we waited, in the back, another party arrived and just sat down. The server jumped up and cleaned their table. We were completely ignored. Again. Lat time I give this place a chance.
The food is not even that great either.
