Their vegetarian quesadilla was awesome. The chips are warm and crispy. Oh, and it’s pretty cheap.

Food was good, but very small portions. Very understaffed.

Yep I was very surprised how delicious this food was. I have never heard anyone say great things about this place except for their bomb HH specials. We decided to hit it up for dinner for my birthday dinner. OMG and they had reservations available. We approached the restraint for someone to tell me I didn’t have reservations when I spoke with someone earlier. I then talked to the guy and he renumbered talking to me right away. He then proceeded to take me to a table. We sat down with fresh red flowers and looked at the tasty Mezal (my FAV) drinks. I got the Madras which was tasty but small. My friend got this delicious rimmed goodness drink that I have no clue which one it was but wow out of this world flavors perfect for a unwind of the evening drink.
I wasn’t sure what I wanted but chicken mole sounded good, guac and chips sounded great so we started there and I was sooo caught up in it being my birthday that I don’t think I tried all the salsas. I was with three men they done finished the chips because I was being miss chatty Cathy ha.
However I switched it all up, I got the Carne Asada which came with homemade in house tortillas and beans and rice. The rice was sooo good I havent stopped talking about it. The tortillas were OUT of this world GOOD. The rice was oh soooo delicious. I was not disappointed. The meat was soo good and really tasty and tender. I just loaded up the tortilla with the fixings and its served with a broiled jalapeño. Oh please believe I will be back. I can’t wait to try there other options on the menu. If you are looking for a great place, huge, outdoor seating, birthday party celebrations of any, good food I recommend coming here. Ahhh I can’t wait to have those tortikllas wow.

Always good food and service. Have been here many times and love the food and the margaritas are really good as well. Have taken friends there and everyone has always enjoyed what they ordered.

Extremely solid food at great costs. Came for lunch as I live around the corner. Great open setting, open kitchen so you could both see and smell your food being prepared. Waiters and staff are friendly and educational. The salsa bar has a fine collection of truly yummy stuff. Costs appear reasonable to me, considering the region. Undoubtedly get the chips and salsa. The chips come hot and salty (made fresh) and are tasty. Not your typical TexMex fashion food. Extremely fine, I Will definitely be coming back.

Awesome local Mexican place in Capitol Hill. Came in with a group of 8 (reservations). Ordered a Melrose mojito with a mango purée, it was delicious. Their chips & guac were great with an open salsa bar. Service was really awesome & they were willing to split the check for us in the end. The only downside was the tacos (2 for $ 7) which seems a little pricey to me.

Phenomenal food. Highly recommended the carne asada, anything with the Colorado style sauce, and the guac is great.

This place is always great. Been here several times with different groups of friends and coworkers and it’s a good experience each time.
We last came on cinco de mayo so a very busy day for Mexican restaurants. I was lucky to get seated immediately and the service was excellent from the get go. I was the first one there and they made sure to take care of me while I waited.
There is a little salsa bar inside. The guacamole is delicious and so are all the tacos! The sangria is good but a little on the sweet side. Margaritas delicious. Really great drink specials.
We had something called the molotes and it was ok. Beef sausage and potatoes… Just interesting. Nothing to rave about. There isn’t really anything special about it.
Would highly recommend for any meal and especially happy hour!

Went for happy hour! Great deals. Got the ½ carafe of sangria and the ceviche. Delicioso! Staff was friendly!

Been here a few times now so it’s only fair that I write an update:
Get the chips and guacamole along with salsas from the bar. You will not be disappointed. They are warm and fresh and heavenly.
The Mole Negro — Chicken is by far the best I’ve had. It’s extremely tender, perfectly cooked and delicious. I just can’t get enough of it.
The Pozole is very flavorful, nicely cooked and the perfect spicy treat for a cold/​rainy day. It looks small but is very very filling and hearty.
The Carne Asada platter is good but not outstanding like the previous two mentioned dishes. Worth getting if you’re really hungry though since it’s huge.
If you’ve got some room left, get the flan. It’s pretty good.
Overall the food is outstanding, the service is very quick and friendly and the prices are a tad on the higher side, but then again, it’s Cap Hill so I guess it’s ok. I love this place and go here often and definitely recommend it to all my friends.

Birria, Pozole, Tinga and more. I really enjoyed the food here. The atmosphere is great and the staff is routinely tableside. A loaded bar with excellent margaritas tops it off. Eat and enjoy.

La Cocina Oaxaquena may not be a good fit for vegans, but they made it work. I had the tostada which they can make vegan friendly, and of course chips & guacamole. What I learned is that Oaxacan cuisine is very meat heavy, even dishes that don’t have meat use meat broths.
Dawniella (I believe that was her name) was extremely accommodating for our large group which came without reservation due to some conflicts we had at another restaurant. She was really responsive, educating, and had such a great personality — even when our birthday man had birthday cake smashed into his face and onto the floor.
Their restaurant is rather large, with partitions giving each area an intimate feel.
Their food is more on the gourmet side, I’d say.

I hate to give such a poor rating but the mole sauce on the cheese enchiladas here tasted like sugar was its only ingredient. Way way wayyyy too sweet. It overpowered everything else and made me feel all weird and wiggly and hyper and gross. I imagine this is what it would feel like to drink a gallon of hummingbird feeder juice.
Credit where due: very friendly staff, very good chips and guacamole, and quite a lovely interior too. And yay for any Mexican restaurant that doesn’t serve entrees on giant plates covered in a lake of melted cheese. But, I wouldn’t order anything with that mole on it again in a thousand lifetimes.

This place has amazing food! I had the Costillas de Puerco and it was delicious. I couldn’t figure out what on my plate had the spice to it – it all blended together so perfectly. The pork was tender and the rice was the best I ever had. I also had the Melrose Mojito – SPICY, but fantastic!
My husband had the chile relleno and it was really good, too (even tho I’m not a bell pepper fan.)
We made a reservation online and the were ready for us as soon as we walked in. Staff was friendly and dinner was out super fast. There’s also a little salsa bar with like 4 different salsas, which was cool.
I will definitely come back next time I’m in Seattle!

This place had great service good drinks bi linguistic staff and a fun salsa bar a bit spendy and not extremely authentic but if you ask them for more spicy food you’ll get it the bartender was awesome we liked the designer tacos

This is still one of my favorite Mexican spots on the hill. It’s a quaint little spot and the food is so bomb. I’ve been here about four times now and the food has been consistently good. Typically I don’t care for rice and beans, but this place makes them really good. One time I brought a friend here and she got the fish tacos. She said it was so good, but wouldn’t even let me have a bite! It must’ve been really good.
This time around I tried the tostada de tinga. First bite I was in heaven! I asked the waitress what was the brown sauce on it, and she said bean sauce and asked Why? Is everything ok? I said, yes, It’s just so delicious! The al pastor tacos was also yummy. Paired it with their top shelf margarita and it did not disappoint. I also love the salsa bar with unlimited pico de gallo with their hot fresh tortilla chips! My friend ordered the carne asada plate and also said it was really good. I took a bite and totally agree. I love how everything is really fresh. Service was pretty attentive as well. I can’t wait to come back. I want to try everything.

Some of the best, authentic Posole is here at this restaurant/​bar. It was served piping hot with the perfect ratio of goodies to broth, and a side of toppings to add yourself. The bartender was on the ball the whole time.

I’m usually picky when it comes to Mexican food, but this place is fantastic! I tried their happy hour with some coworkers, and we all loved the menu. A majority of us each ordered the $ 5 house margarita (plus a few more) and some food items on the happy hour menu. I had the Tostadas de Tenga that comes with shredded beef, lettuce, guacamole sauce, crema and Queso Oaxaqueño, and it was very flavorful. I also loved their guacamole and chips.
For drinks, I tried the Melrose Mojito that was both refreshing and had a nice kick. One of my coworkers ordered the Spiked Mexican Coffee and it was amazing! It contained Paton XO Café, Fireball, Baileys and coffee, topped with whipped cream and served on ice. I could barely taste the alcohol when I tried a sip… and it actually tasted like a delightful iced coffee drink!
There is a salsa bar off to the side where you can choose a few more sauces for yourself if you prefer. Service was friendly and attentive.
If you have never tried Oaxaquen-​style Mexican food, this is one of the best places to go! Happy hour is everyday from 4−6pm, and then again 10pm-​12am on weekdays.

Tried this in a desperate attempt to have a new Eat24 experience. Because… I was feeling too lazy to walk the three blocks to Casco Antiguo. I ordered the pastor tacos and the chips and salsa — with extra salsa, as my lovely #Eat24 compadres urged.
The good: the pastor tacos were really tasty. There was a HUGE portion of chips. I have more tortilla chips left over than I could eat in a week.
The not so good: the order from @eat24 was late. Almost 15 minutes late. Which I am sure affected the tacos, which were barely warm. Considering I was aiming at comfort food, it was disappointing. This is my second experience with @eat24 this month that was not great. Hard to know whether this one was the restaurant’s fault… but I’ll give this place a try again.

We came here early enough to get the happy hour menu and boy was it a great deal. $ 5 for 2 really great tacos. $ 5 for a VERY strong margarita. During happy hour they still serve the full menu if you are with people that want something more substantial.
The chips and guac is also a must have. Great, creamy texture with lots of flavor. As a side benefit, they have a salsa bar with varying levels of spicy goodness.
