Kiki Bakery & Cafe

I was super excited that they opened a Chinese baker up in North Seattle. I figured that now I don’t have to drive all the way to the International District to get a delicious baked good. The store was pretty clean since they just had their grand opening.
First qualm: The pricing is a little higher than most Chinese bakeries. I got a pineapple bread and it was probably $.50 more than other place. Second issue was that the pineapple bread didn’t even taste that good. All the other pineapple breads that I’ve had in the past are fluffy, moist, and buttery. The top is also buttery but flakey and denser in texture than the overall bread. Well, my pineapple bread was not any of the above. It just tasted like bread without the delicious buttery taste that usually comes along with this delicious treat. I usually eat it all up really quickly but ended up giving it to m husband because it wasn’t worth the calories. No bueno. If your pineapple bread isn’t good, it reflects poorly on the bakery since I think it is such a signature item of a Taiwanese bakery.

I was so excited to find a Taiwanese bakery near me. I have seen KiKi bakeries in LA, even though it isn’t the best bakery out there, I needed my Taiwanese baked goods fix.
I went during their soft opening. I got two hot dog breads, a wife cake, pineapple bun, and a loaf of white toast. This came out to be $ 11-​$ 12. Everything was good except the white toast. It was so dry. Nothing can compare with 85 degrees bakery in California so I guess I am just being picky and spoiled. I tried a piece of bread right after I bought it and the crust was hard but the inside was soft. 2 days later, it was pretty dry even when I sealed it tightly. I’ll probably go back for the other goodies but not the bread.
Everything is a bit overpriced compared to other Asian bakeries. I also got a $ 1 off coupon if I spend $ 10 on my next purchase. Staff was also very friendly.

Small bakery that just opened. Has many Chinese style pastries that are not too sweet. Has a few tables to eat at – they are still growing and I’m sure there will be more stuff once they become more popular.

Nice bakery! They make everything daily in their kitchen which is amazing! Good pricing for quality pastries. I will recommend everyone to go there!

I wandered into Kiki Bakery Café during their soft opening weekend. Their appearance was anything but soft opening, it was extremely clean, well-​stocked with well-​informed and friendly employees.
We had just come from dinner and so weren’t looking to buy anything, but wanted to see what goodies Kiki’s had to offer. You grab a tray and some tongs when you enter, but their items are all individually wrapped/​packaged. They have pineapple cake, scones, raisin cookies, savory baked items, and the list goes on and on. In their bakery case, they have cakes (8″ round is $ 30). I found their pricing fair.
My friend asked about the flour in the almond cookies and the cashier knew what she was asking, and told her what they had that was gluten free. They just pulled these coconut (they also have almond and another flavor) of cookie «crisps.» She offered us each a sample and my friend decided to buy a whole package, which they swiftly wrapped up and handed over.
There is a 35c surcharge for $ 10 or less. They are currently holding a promo where if you spend $ 10, you get $ 1 off next time. Since their pricing is so low, you can leave here with lots!
Looking forward to coming back here when I’m not too full to think. :)
