Kids On 45th

This is my favorite consignment store for kids. Tons of clothes, toys, and books. And turnover is high so you’ll frequently find new things. Staff is friendly and helpful. I have noticed that some items are overpriced (sometimes ridiculously) so go knowing what the item retails for. Clothes are hit or miss – I’ve found some great pieces but have also seen a fair amount of clothing with holes, stains, etc. so give it a good once over before buying. They don’t check to see if toys work or if items are complete so think twice before buying puzzles and games with pieces. If you do purchase and find something missing they are great about returns.

Consignment stores are hit-​or-​miss by nature, that’s true of Kids on 45^th. That being said, I have had many more positive experiences than negative, I usually find what I’m looking for and if not the staff is happy to help me out in locating an item (whether at another store or they can put you on a list to wait for the item).

I have found so many gems for my toddler at this shop! Their prices are fair especially for specialty items that many other consignment shops don’t carry.

I’ve been coming to Kids on 45^th for 4 years, finally writing a review. I was in the other day and rounded out my 6 year old’s summer wardrobe. I love that most pants and shirts are about $ 3.95. Service here is always nice, and if you have 0−4year olds, they have lots of options. The selections taper off as the kids get older — this is normal for kids’ consignment shops. Their shoe selection isn’t great (sometimes the shoes look pretty beat up) and the store is cramped. BUT … location is great, prices are VERY good, and they have a little of everything (both used and new). I’ve never consigned through this store, but as a buyer, I give them a definite thumbs up.

When it comes to kids’ clothing I’m a consignment store junkie. This is a cute little store. The fact that this store is so little is probably it’s only draw back, but they do make the best of the space they have. Their prices are on par with just about every other consignment store I’ve been to (which to me can be a little high). I love the fact that they have a dollar rack. I wasn’t able to find anything I liked for my 5 and 6 yr old girls, but I found the cutest Paul Frank sleeper for my 5 month old and it is in pretty good shape for $ 1. If I ever come back to Seattle, I’d stop by here again.

I’m not a parent, but I work with kids and it’s useful to have some toys and games in the office. This place was perfect for this end. They had a large selection and wide variety of used toys and games (and a good selection of new toys as well). I found just about everything I was looking for (dolls, small figurines, games, building blocks) and the prices were really low. The staff was really friendly and helpful. This place also has a return policy (30 days I think) if you keep your items in the package and realize you don’t want them.
Bottom line, I’ll check this place again if I ever need a few more items and I saw some things I would buy my niece and nephew if they were in town. Great store and good overall experience.

Updating my review after a consignment (selling) experience. It was fast and easy to drop off my things for sale and my items were or on the floor within a month or so. As the items, sold my account was continuously credited. I stopped there twice after my items were consigned and had /​spent $ 30 & $ 20, which I was happy with, considering I had only dropped off two ¾ full paper bags of clothes (no shoes or jackets).
The store has been busy all the times I have been there, so while I didn’t feel ignored when I wanted assistance, there was no «hello» or personalization or service. All in all, still a great store with a solid selection of kids clothes, shoes, toys and paraphernalia.

As far as consignment stores go, the Kids on 45^th Store is above average. With the volume of items and people going through the store, this store is still able to provide a great mix of used and new products. The staff is really friendly and helpful.
It’s hard to rate the selection of consignment stores because they vary by day, month or season. But, I did notice that the staff really tries to help people as they’re looking for specific items.
It’s a good solid place and I can recommend it.

This store is packed to the brim with everything you could possibly need for your child. And if they don’t have what you need, they will certainly do their best to keep you in the know if it shows up. The employees are super helpful and it’s hands down the best consignment store in town.

¹⁄₃ of the store has brand new items but price was more than amazon. I was shocked.
$ 1 rack was awesome but I couldn’t find any gently used items, most were just beat up and well used. I only paid attention to baby boy clothes though, didn’t paid attention to girls’.
The rest of regular price clothes were just decent, still not in the «gently used» as I expected, better quality than the $ 1 rack but still very used (few pieces I considered nasty). Price is right between $ 3.99-$ 6.99 for a pair of toddler jeans which was not bad. Again I found Gymboree at Northgate is more attractive after visited this store. I scored few pairs of toddlers jeans and sweatpants at Gymborre for $ 6.40-$ 7.00 each BRAND NEW last week.
Though, 2 years ago, I scored a «abc ball» for 3 bucks and that was my only purchase after 2 visits from Kids On 45h. I guess used toys are good to get from this place, other than that, I rather shop at Ross, tj max, children place or Gymboree for brand new items

Tons of clothes all jam packed on the racks. Plenty of selection to flip through. The prices were average and you have to be picky about the condition. They have a lot of new items as well so that’s a nice mix. The sales ladies were helpful.

I was quite shocked by how unfriendly the woman in this store was today. I will not be going back.

This place is good for what it is; the service is helpful and very polite.
I went there expecting a lot cheaper cloth and more variety in the sizes that I needed; but it’s fine. (That is the –1 star)
The other –1 is the quality of the cloth, although, they say the make their best efforts to weed out ‘dirty’ cloth; I happen to purchase a bathing suit that had some marks, that I noticed once I send it to the washer (you should wash anything prior to wearing) specially if it’s 2^nd hand. Anyways, I finally got out that nasty stain in the 2^nd wash (to which I had to combine it with my whites for a Hot Bleach wash) the bathing suit seems to be in good shape now. It was only 4.99 so if I would have ruin it with the bleach I wouldn’t have cared much.
So TIPS: look carefully to your item, not sure about their refundable policy, but I assume if the tag is out, no backsies…
Conclusion: I will go back, it’s better than the alternative! New cloth that it will be worn for a few months. *Fyi I’m not a mom, I’m an aunty of 2 girls.

I had a really positive experience here, so I read what some other Unilocalers had to say. I was surprised by some of the common criticisms.
First off, I’m not sure if it’s possible to have a consignment store that makes both consigners and buyers perfectly happy. For every lint-​pilled pajama I found, I found six nicer jammies in near-​mint condition, so I think Kids is keeping a good balance.
Same thing for the width of the aisles — trade-​offs are being made here in accessibility of merchandise vs. number of items they carry. They err on the side of too much stuff, which I think is good given the small footprint of the store.
Lastly, I had a perfectly pleasant experience with both employees on the floor. They weren’t aggressively friendly, but that’s what I prefer.
I found great clothes for a young infant at five bucks and under, but I really came in for the carriers. My soft wrappy thing was just not cutting it now that the baby was long enough to curl around my waist.
They had 6 – 7 older, non-​Ergo carriers and one pretty faded Ergo. I ended up swerving toward the new-​in-​box variety at the front of the store. The lady helping me was knowledgeable about carriers as far as sizing and wear of different models (including ones not currently in stock).
I wish they’d had more cloth diaper selection and a bit more signage around the store, but otherwise I was impressed and fully intend to come back.

I’m pretty new at this whole ‘consignment shop’ shopping. I have an 18 month old and finally discovered these shops. I wish I knew about them sooner!
I’ve been eyeing this shop for a while… I’ve walked by a few times but they were either closed or I was busy and didn’t have time to drop in.
I finally planned a day to visit the store with my son. Yay!
I knew before we got there that the shop is pretty tiny and I’ve seen strollers parked outside. So I highly suggest (if your baby is still small enough) to Ergo /​Baby wear!
I carried my son on my back while I hunted through their racks. It worked out pretty well.
As for the inside of the shop, I’d say it’s organized pretty well. By size. That’s really all you need. I found a sweater and a pair of jeans, both brand names and paid only 9 bucks! Really happy with my find.
The only thing that caught my attention was in the very back of the store there was a bin of ‘used underwear’… hmm… I personally would NEVER buy used underwear. Children’s underwear can get quite… dirty… no?

I stopped into Kids last week after being overloaded with info on cloth diaper systems. The ladies at the store were so helpful and kind. They let me ask a ton of questions and spread out all the diapering options on the counter so I could compare them all. This store is packed full of great deals of new and gently used items. I will be back, again and again! Thanks ladies!

Great prices (got a REI coat for my son for $ 10), and nice people. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re looking for a bargain.
Clothes are sometimes dirty, but price is right. I once asked why certain things were so inexpensive, I was told that they price to move things because they have a ton of overstock. Lots of changing stock.
In the end, the price trumps everything! I got a brand new Rubicks cube for $ 3.99, and sent my friend there for a specialized hotrock (kids bike) for $ 25! Can’t beat that!
I think I’d like it less if I couldn’t walk to it from my office

I’ve been going here a few years now, crossing all the way over the bridges and passing other consignment stores to make a bee line for this one.
It is a full little shop and you have to browse to find your deals, but that is half the fun of consignment! I like that they are selective as to what they put out and the clothes are by and large of good quality. I also like the selection of new things and have definitely purchased from this area as well.
My only issues are that they are far away and my kids are growing out of the sizes offered!

You can’t beat the $ 1 Gap overalls I found on the dollar rack. In fact, the dollar rack is the whole reason for going — taking a vacation, and worried about washing the clothes? For a dollar, you can just throw them away (or donate to a local charity).
Granted, I have to concur with other reviewers re: the organization. Really, the lack thereof. It is packed to the brim and completely chaotic — you can’t figure out where to go for what.
So let me reiterate: head straight to the dollar rack. End of story.
