A few years ago, I read a friend’s status on Facebook where he thanked another one of his friend’s for turning him on to Katsu Burger. I knew where it was but every time that I was in the area and hungry, I always opted for the I Luv Teriyaki place next door. Well, the other night, I was in the mood for a burger and since I was already headed to Seattle, I decided to give Katsu Burger a try. I had also recently read an article on the best places to get french fries in Washington and Katsu Burger was high on the list so I figured why not knock out two new experiences at one time. This is a little hole in the wall joint on Marginal way just around the corner from 4th and Michigan but the flavor and presence is nice and big. It was a little hard to decide at first. You can order any sandwich with beef, chicken or pork and they have a ton of selections to choose from. I decided on the Samurai Special with beef and I ordered my fries with the 12 spices. When you order your fries, there are a few decision to make. I think there were 5 different types of seasonings to choose from and then you get to choose a dipping sauce as well. I opted for the spicy mayonnaise. I’ve ordered chicken katsu and tonkatsu at my favorite Japanese restaurants before and I know that katsu means breaded and deep fried but I wasn’t prepared for what was blatantly apparent when I received my sandwich. The meat on every sandwich at Katsu burger is breaded and deep fried. It never dawned on me until I took a bite that the name Katsu burger was literal. Served with shredded cabbage instead of lettuce and topped with a wonderful curry sauce, this burger was delicious. The fries were amazing as well and I was 100% satisfied with my meal. It wasn’t what I set out to have when craving a burger however it was a welcome change and I will definitely be back to check out the other variations. The space is quirky and full of cool photos and decorations too. If you want to try something completely different then go to Katsu Burger. It’s fusion done right. Thanks for reading.

This is a pants-kicking local burger joint with a unique take on the genre. It can get crazy busy, but it’s worth the wait to get these bold, decadent flavors in a classic fast-food format. «Katsu», for the uninitiated, is essentially breaded and deep-fried meat; usually pork or chicken. At its best, it’s golden, crunchy and flavorful. Done wrong, it can be greasy, burnt or bland-tasting and very unpleasant. Here, they do it right and then they do it up, creating sandwiches with layered flavors and textures, with a variety of sauces and toppings, applied generously. The resulting burgers are massive, two-fisted affairs guaranteed to address an empty belly boldly and with total disregard of politically correct heathfoodism. BLAM there it is, full of everything it purports to contain. This is not food for whiners and caloric teetotalers. This is adventure food! And the fries… cravable variations and delicious dipping sauces to choose from… And what value! Last time I went to MacD.(shut it) I spent $ 14 for two burgers and an iced tea. At Katsu, I spent $ 15 for a gigantic burger, curry fries with spicy sauce and a drink, with tip! Those big fast-food chains should be soiling themselves about now. The giant corporate fast food chains publicly whine about how increases in minimum wage will ultimately hurt their customers, while secretly rejoicing that they now have an excuse to raise the prices on the bilge they serve and slash benefits to their employees. Come here and eat, and see how good fast food CAN be! A star off for an understandably untidy store. More frequent wipes and sweeps in the dining area will earn #5!

Was really excited to check this place out and finally did a few months ago. Was not impressed with their burger and definitely wasn’t thrilled with their fries. They were sooooo stale. I was pretty disappointed. I mean if you like huge portions, the burgers are monstrous but they didn’t taste anything special. The only thing I absolutely love here is their milkshake! The green tea milkshake is amazing. It’s the only thing I get there when I go now. I’ve tried the chai milkshake and it’s really good too just a little too sweet.

Very tasty but very greasy. Fun place to bring people who are out of town. I likely won’t go back but that is more because of me and my fav genres of food and less to do with them

Seattle tends to shine in the category of Asian fusion through the likes of Katsu Burger. There is a long menu, a moderate amount of seating, moderate prices and a fascinating wall which depicts Japan’s relationship with burgers such as Burger King’s Windows 7 burger from Japan. Katsu Burger has all kinds of burgers, fries, sauces, beverages including milkshaakes and more, much of it influenced by this fusion mindset. I have admired ton katsu for many years, so I decided to go here. My order was for a ninja deluxe combo at around fourteen dollars. Other combos could have offered something similar for eleven dollars, I soon found out. Standard Japanese candies were under the counter. My food came after about ten minutes. The sandwich was well put together and the fries were crispy. It’s a bit of a gimick, but there was some execution to it. Try this if you are so inclined.

I wouldn’t say it’s the best burger in town, but it is something that you have to try out… at least once in your life. I’ve been to this place twice. It honestly didn’t phase me much except that you could get a deep fried katsu burger the size of a petit Asians head. I’m giving this place 4 stars Bc it’s unique and the quality of the food isn’t bad. It’s a place to try once at least. And skip the seaweed fries… over rated in my opinion.

Absolutely loved this spin on the burger joint. Had the Samurai with Nori fries. The flavor was awesomely complex with sweet, salt & spicy all in one bite. Can’t wait to try some more menu items!

Nori Fries with curry mayo was super good! I ordered the ninja deluxe and it was good but my katsu patty was pretty thin. I barely noticed it with all the veggies combined. SO got the Godzilla. He liked it but also thought his party was too thin. Floors and table were also pretty filthy. Had to wipe down with some baby wipes I had on hand. Overall, I would probably return to try something different.

There is never a bad time for Katsu Burger. Every time I order something, I have lunch for 2 days because the burgers are just so big! I order online and go in to pick it up when it’s ready. My go to order is a tokyo classic without tonkatsu sauce, nori fries and a green tea milkshake. I love the crunchy patty with the crispy veggies in the burger. The fries are thin and crispy with the slight salty seaweed taste. Perfect for dipping in spicy mayo! The milkshake is so creamy and brings the whole meal together. Katsu Burger is always a favorite at my house!

Came here for lunch after working up an appetite from walking around Costco. I didn’t feel like Costco Food Court food. After looking at the calorie count for the Costco food, I figured I may as well eat better meal than that. Found this place on Unilocal so I gave it a shot. I arrived a little after opening at 11 and there were already a few people in there. I ordered a Godzilla Attack(spicy) with Nori fries and curry mayo. The burger was huge. It was tasty(at first) and there was a good amount of spice to it. The beef patty is pretty thick. Combined with a heaping portion of cabbage, that makes up most of the girth of this burger. As I got toward the end, it started falling apart. As I ate some of the burger without any of the extra fixings, it was kind of bland. That disappointed me. If the burger patty itself had more flavor, my review would have been one star higher. The Nori fries were pretty awesome. Fried just right so they were nice and crispy. You also have a choice of regular fries with sea salt or curry fries or a spice blend. Based on Unilocal reviews, the Nori fries were mentioned a lot so I went for it and it was worth it. The curry sauce had a nice flavor. There were a lot of sauces to choose from so there’s no shortage of options for customers with particular tastes. The restaurant itself shares a parking lot with a donut shop. It’s really just one strip of parking spaces but there are two additional horizontal spots right in front of Katsu Burger. Service was fine. Nothing bad, nothing great. I’d come back here again and try a different burger. Definitely getting the Nori fries again. Hopefully I can bump up the stars on my next trip.

Katsu Burger is so good, they got me to love a burger without any cheese! I didn’t think it would be possible to enjoy such a thing, but the Samurai Select is amazing! I always tell myself I’ll order the Ninja Deluxe, but when push comes to shove I never do. Maybe next time. Or you could order it and I’ll just live vicariously through you… at least that’s what I do with the fiancé. As for the rest — I do like the nori fries, but only if you’re eating there. And their milkshakes sound bomb. If you’re already eating the burger, might as well go all the way! Bottom line: Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmy!

Came here because I had a coupon from my Chinook book for free fries! I had to get the nori(seaweed) fries because I love nori chips! I got the curry mayo and paid an extra 50 cents for the sriracha mayo since I couldn’t make up my mind. Both were really good. Their two most popular burgers are the Godzilla Attack which is smothered in sriracha mayo sauce with a beef katsu patty and the Ohaiyou Gozaimasu which comes with a beef katsu patty. You can even get eggs with your burger! Very unique. Never had a katsu burger before and I like it! Crispy outside and moist inside. I loved the nori fries, however, I wished they were more crispy because they felt like they had possibly sat out for a bit. MILKSHAKESARE A MUST! Their kinako and black sesame milkshake tastes like a chocolate chip milkshake with pieces of black sesame instead of chocolate. Also, their matcha milkshake is quite good.

This place was really hyped up by our friends and it was so-so. If you’re looking for something different than your typical burger, come here. If you like huge portions with just-okay flavor then this is your place. I was expecting more of a wow-factor in terms of flavor and it just wasn’t there. We tried 4 different burgers. They have a lot of sauce selections, which was cool. I’d take out of town visiting friends here if I know they like big portions and fun twists on burgers. It’s more like a diner with a Japanese spin to it’s choices. The Nori fries? Need more nori flavor!

After hearing about this place time and time again from my friends, I finally got to eat here! Katsu Burger is a creative burger place and I’ve never heard of any other place like it. My boyfriend and I ordered the Mt. Fuji burger to split. This burger was huge and definitely more than enough for the both of us! We also ordered the curry and nori fries with tonkatsu and spicy mayo sauce. And to top it all off, we also ordered the Kinako and Black Sesame hand-dipped milkshake. This was a meal of champions and I was so full afterwards. This place was empty when we got there, but packed by the time we left. Definitely check Katsu Burger out next time you are in Seattle!

This is probably the burger spot in Seattle that nobody knows about. Absolutely delicious burgers. The Nori Fries are a must with your meal. I highly recommend the miso honey mustard dipping sauce. The ninja Delux and samurai select are my burgers of choice. They are both amazing!

This is a decent burger joint. Its not quite a gourmet burger. I’d say Katsu Burger is more of a cross breed between a gourmet and fast food drive-in type of burger. I wasn’t expecting Katsu Burger to be a drive-in type of burger joint. They do have seating, but, maybe I’m use to the fancy-smancy gourmet burger restaurants in LA, the interior is an old school mom and pop with fun, dorky Japanese décor. It’s also pretty small. I think 6 – 7 tables at most. The burger was decent. I ordered the Ohayou Gozaimasu(9.95), a breaded and fried beef Patty, shredded cabbage with Japanese mayo, egg, cheese, bacon and a bed of pickles. I wasn’t too impressed by its take of a Japanese inspired burger and, more disappointingly, the egg was over cooked. With the burger, I ordered nori fries(2.35) and they were pretty awesome. Crispy and deliciously covered with the right amount of salt and seaweed flakes.

Heard so much about this place. So I decided to give it a try. Came here on a Wedn. evening for dinner. There were only 2 people working during the dinner rush. The girl took my order and asked for my name. I got the Ninja Deluxe and Nori fries combo. Now this is the bad part. From the time that I ordered til the time I got my food was a 30 mins wait. During the time people were coming in and ordering, but since there was only 2 people working. 1 cashier and 1 cook. No one was filling the orders. I noticed the the cook had made a bunch of burgers and placed it under the heating lamp. There were at least 6 – 7 burgers just sitting there. The phone was going off the hook and it just seemed that the worker was overwhelmed. I’m not badgering the workers because they did their best. But cmon management, why do you have only 2 people working during Dinner time. Finally got my meal, fries were cold. Burgers werent hot either. And I got the Fried pork cutlets. Really disappointed. If you come into this place an only see 2 people working and the place seemed busy… RUN and eat somewhere else. Unless you like to wait a long time for your food.

I’m usually not a fan of burgers but the burgers here are bomb! I can already judge from the one burger I ate here so far. Yesterday was my first day there, but I’ll definitely be coming back for more to try all their burgers. Haha. My friend wasn’t too hungry so we just shared a Classic Tokyo burger and nori fries. The amount was perfect for just the two of us. The burger was a lot bigger and yummier than I thought! And the fries, mmm. My all time favorite fries now. Can’t beat the portion and price either! Goodbye, McDonald fries. :p also, their miso honey mustard dipping sauce was super yummy. I really want to try their matcha green tea shake next time because of all the good reviews about it! Ahhh~
