JOEY Lake Union

Ordered the ahi tacos. I was shocked to see ONE small piece of tuna per taco. They really should change the name to coleslaw tacos because that is what the vast majority of this dish is. Taco shells and coleslaw. Ive seen some good reviews on them, so maybe I got the lazy chef who was ready to go home since I was there late night. I would not recommend this dish to anyone.

I normally go to Joey in Bellevue; but sometimes I need my sweet potato and bleu cheese fries fix, and this Joey is right opposite my workplace. Food and service are the same: good food, though not special, and overly flirtatious waitresses and hostesses in short bandage dresses and stiletto heels. Sometimes I come here with male coworkers and even they get annoyed; when you’re tired, you want your food, not inefficient waitresses trying to chat you up.
The Lake Union restaurant has a much better view and less wait than the Bellevue branch, though. It’s nice to walk out to the deck and to get some fresh air, since the restaurant is always so packed. Try to get a table by the windows during sunset; it will make up for any service incompetencies!

This was my 2^nd time here, and both times only really for steak so I can’t comment too much on too many other items.
Both times, the staff was very friendly and attentive. There was never a point where anyone had to ask for a refill on water, as they were always topped off. As for the other drinks, they made a point to they were asking if you wanted another before you got to an empty glass, so kudos to them.
You can’t go wrong with a peppercorn steak. It was cooked just right, and the sauce is a great complement. The meal comes with a mixed vegetable medley, which wasn’t anything special. But the potatoes, wow?! They serve the meal with mashed potato egg rolls that are dynamite!
We ordered the nachos as an appetizer. There was a generous amount of black beans, which I don’t know if that’s normal, or the chef had a heavy hand. I wasn’t complaining though because beans are filling and when 5 guys just wanted something to pick at, it worked perfectly to hold us over until we were ready to order.
The last time we were here, we tried an order of the Ahi Tuna Tacos, which were also pretty darn good. And for dessert, the individually baked apple pie with maple ice cream is definitely worth getting. My buddy got the happy ending for dessert and he too raved about his.
I will be back again next time I’m in the area, for sure!

I hate to give fellow females a hard time, but it is really, really hard not to do that here. I think it’s their obvious hiring practice of only going with the most vapid people. Dumb as a doornail? Who cares! Your order may be half wrong but at least she was pretty to look at, right? Please. If I wanted that I would go to Hooters.
Anyhow, the food here is alright. I have never had anything memorable that screams «wow» at Joey’s. But it’s pretty obvious when you walk in that you’re not here for the food. You’re here to rub elbows with likeminded individuals and you’re here for the «view».
Joey’s feels like it’s meant to appeal to the kids who were popular in high school. I guess that’s my problem with them — that kind of attitude is only cool when you’re still in high school.
That said, the place could be really neat if it weren’t for the employees. I adore booths that force you to cuddle next to your companion and they have plenty of those here. And the alcohol display at the bar is impressive. Oh yeah, there’s that awesome view too — I’m talking about the view outside.
But although it has all this to offer, there are at least four other restaurants in the area that I would rather go to. Joey’s just doesn’t float my boat I guess, and that’s fine by me.

For those of you on Paleo or who want good quality meat, avoid this place — I confirmed with a (lovely) waitress today that their steak is GMO-​corn fed beef, pretty much the worst stuff you can buy.
Not grass fed, not organic, pastured, not anything.
When I pay $ 30 for a steak I expect good quality grass fed beef, or at least the option to pay extra for it. It’s not the 1990s anymore people.
So I ordered the chicken.
Other than that this place is a relaxing hangout, just wish I could come here and order a steak that wasn’t freshly industrial farmed from the frozen section of Safeway.

horrible customer service especially if you’re female. Waitress even screwed up on the bill and then got mad for getting a poor tip.

I was lucky enough to visit Seattle when it was 80 degrees and sunny! We got to Joey’s around 7:30pm on a Tuesday and were seated promptly outside. The view of the water and boats was awesome!
Being that it was my first time to Joey’s they brought out complimentary Ahi Tuna Tacos for the table of four. They were definitely delicious!
The table ordered the Super Sonic Gin & Tonic. While they were perfect, I chose as my second drink to have the Stiff Lemonade that came out like a slurpee. It was sweet and delicious!
The food orders:
1. Herb Crush Salmon
2. Market Chicken Salad
3. Florentine Ravioli
4. Ahi Tuna Club
Everyone loved their dinners! I would definitely come here again– especially for happy hour!

You go to this place for its location and to be seen.
The food is average /​OKay at best. The protein portions in the food are dismal.
3 entrees and 3 appetizers were $ 110 with no alcohol. REDICULOUS

I am really surprised by all the low reviews as I have been to Joey numerous times and have always been impressed. My service has always been friendly and helpful. The ambiance is nice — a bit upscale with great views by the window or on the patio, great for date night! It does seem like everyone else here is dressed to impress, «cool,» and ready for a night out, but the food is good so we can’t complain even if the crowd is not so much our thing!
The wine list at Joey is awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed. I love the Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc.
As for appetizers, the Ahi Tuna Tacos are AMAZING. A very creative dish and super flavorful! This appetizer alone is worth a visit. We’ve also had the Chicken Lettuce Wraps, which were pretty good but a little salty — go for the tuna tacos instead!
For entrees, I highly recommend the Sashimi Tuna Salad. It’s definitely citrusy almost to the point of being sour, but it’s very refreshing. The Chicken Souvlaki is also pretty good. My boyfriend has had their burgers a few times and likes them. The Steak & Sushi dish is good as well. Basically, we have yet to have an entrée here that has disappointed us!
For dessert, we’ve had both the Chocolate Soufflé and the Italian Donuts and both are really good.
Tip — if you sit in the lounge, they usually try to seat you towards the front of the restaurant, but if it’s nice out, ask for a seat by the window. These tables seem to always be empty for some reason but the view is great!

This place has a great outdoor patio/​balcony that overlooks the water. We managed to score a really nice couch sectional in this area on a sunny afternoon in May. The inside was dark, but there appeared to be a lot of seats near the window so that you could enjoy the water view whether you sat indoors or outdoors.
Our wait staff were cheery although somewhat forgetful, but they always redeemed themselves by fetching items once reminded.
I ordered the sashimi ahi salad. The ahi had a peppered or seasoned crust that was too salty for my likes. Despite this, I enjoyed the salad, especially the mango bits and cilantro, lime dressing. It was a huge bowl though, so I was unable to finish it.
There were two drink specials on the menu for every day of the week. Prices weren’t cheap, but that was expected considering the location and upscale environment.
We enjoyed watching the bi-​planes take off and land on the water. Fortunately they weren’t too frequent or noisy, so we were able to carry on a conversation without issue.
There was paid parking all along the marina. It was unusual in that you had to back into the spots. On a positive note, the spots were huge, so even I managed to squeeze my rental car into a spot with plenty of clearance for the door swing radius on both sides of the vehicle.
Overall a decent experience, but with so many great places to try in Seattle, I doubt I will make it back to this one.

We came in to order dessert. We were visiting from California. We were told we had to wait for a table. There was quite a bit of seating available. We waited. The music was loud with repetitive, annoying music.
We ordered the chocolate soufflé. The ice cream was more like like milk, or vanilla flavored ice. Horrible!
Don’t come here if you’re older than 25!

When I asked the hotel that I stayed at where I can get a good salad, they said just across the street. and described the salads there as fun. A fun salad… I was curious. I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad that comes with mixed greens, mango, peanuts, and an avocado lime mint dressing. That salad is a work of art when presented — it’s stacked with the seared tuna on the edge of the plate and lots of fresh avocado on top. It’s fun to gently knock the avocado down and voila watch the salad practically self toss itself. I got the salad twice on my trip to Seattle — it was that good — there was lots of fresh mango and there’s also cucumber, tomatoes, shredded carrots, and crispy noodles. At $ 17, it better be absolutely fresh flavorful and delicious — it was both times I had it — goes on the list of one of the best salads I’ve had. The seared tuna is delish.
Joey’s has a few drink specials every night and a good selection of wine and draft beer. Service was good. Seems like everyone wears black in there… the salad was the most colorful thing. They played lots of 80s music both times I visited.

Generally I hit up Joey in Bellevue, but tonight we decided to use up an old AmazonLocal deal that we had for this location.
Usually, my go-​to Joey dish is the ahi tuna club, but my bf ordered this twice before at South Lake Union and said that both times it didn’t measure up to Bellevue’s.
So, instead we switched it up; I ordered the chicken souvlaki and he ordered the bacon cheddar burger. The souvlaki was good, but nothing to rave about. It would have been better with a little more tzatziki sauce. My bf’s burger on the other hand was great! I would compare it to a John Howie’s burger, but much less messy. The sharp cheddar really complimented the meat. Had I just had the burger I would’ve given this spot a 4.
However, the soup that he got to sub out for his fries was horrible. It was some sort of Thai-​style soup that the waitress had assured us was really good. It tasted like the chef was trying to combine a tomato soup with a spicy Thai coconut curry. It was so bad that I wondered if the waitress had even tried the dish before; it’s really not something that should even be an option to order.
Also, it took awhile for me to get my card and receipt back (about ten minutes). This wasn’t a bad dining experience, but I would probably just stick to the Bellevue location since the ahi club is my favorite.

Joey is kind of a… normal spot. They have a pretty broad menu, not seeming to specialize on anything. I ended up opting for a salad, which was good, but mostly unremarkable. It did have some pretty good seared tuna. Others seemed to have the same opinion about their meals — «good but nothing special.» Drinks here seemed semi unique, but also a bit expensive. I also can’t tell if it’s trying to be a breastaurant? The waitresses are… of a certain body type. To make a Seinfeld reference, Elaine would have an issue here. And speaking of waitresses, service was strange. Slow… and uneven, with drinks being forgotten, etc. Just, kind of off.
So, the food was fine, but I’d probably try to find some place else. I gotta believe there are cooler spots in Seattle, with better food as well. Yes, the atmosphere is hip, and the location is good (although out of the way if you’re in staying in the center of downtown), but there are probably better options.

Tried a few of the menu items now. While everything’s on the pricier side, I’ve tried basically all of the ahi dishes.
The ahi tuna tacos are delicious! The taco shell is actually fried, and probably not made from tortillas, as it is pretty light. The sesame, ginger coleslaw, and wasabi alioli all together with the seared tuna made it delightfully delicious with a nice tang. My only complaint, wish they gave more in an order… as I practically devoured them in a few minutes :(
I’ve also had the seared ahi tuna salad and ahi tuna club. Both are really yummy! I think I’m just a sucker for seared tuna… but man I love it! I’m sure at some point I’ll try other stuff, but I’m pretty content with the selection of dishes I’ve come to really like here… i.e. don’t forget about that delicious baked apple pie w/​maple ice cream!

We went here for lunch with family and friends while they were in town. It is very snazzy! Strangely enough it might have been the only place I’ve gone in Seattle that had a little bit of a guido vibe. It has a very upscale club décor interior even though it isn’t a club and is just a restaurant.
I remember eating salmon and a lot of french fries :). Both were good, especially the fries! My husband loves the burger there (no idea which one) and he eats burgers constantly, so liking this one more than others means something!
Overall — not a bad place to go when the weather is nice! Just make sure you are prepared for the vibe of the place — it is very different from other places in Seattle.

I’m saddened by so many low reviews because I had a fantastic experience here! On a very sunny Seattle afternoon my coworkers and I got off work early and decided to grab a few cocktails somewhere close by with a deck/​patio. We drove around Westlake/​Lake Union and landed at Joey’s. Parking (paid) was easy to find as it was only a Tuesday mid-​afternoon.
Inside was pretty empty, but outdoor on the patio was full of happy customers. I immediately fell in love with the view of the lake with boats and seaplanes all around. The patio furniture was very comfortable with padded seating and even pillows – definitely made me want to just sit back and relax. And that’s exactly what we did.
The HH is M-​F from 3:00 — 5:00pm…definitely not prime time for most working adults, but luckily we had made it on time. Each day has different drink specials with a cocktail and beer option and we all ended up with the Super Nova Coconut Vodka Soda cocktail ($ 6.99 for HH). OMG was this delicious! I had never had coconut vodka before and the «super nova” – which is a citrus icey slush on top – just made the drink come together in the best way possible. I drank 3 of these. :)
We all had eaten just a few hours earlier, but decided to try the Calamari Frito ($ 12), which had a bit spicy aioli along with it. Really good calamari (not over cooked) with onions too. After 3 drinks each, we ate this pretty dang fast. Our waitress (Catherine) was the sweetest and brought over complimentary ahi tacos as well! It was such a nice gesture and really made our visit.
The prices are a bit high, but the atmosphere, service, and menus were impressive. And with the very lovely women-​waitresses, it’s not a bad place to meet men… if you know what I mean ;) Try it!

I can’t think of many things better than sitting outside in the sun on an 80 degree day, over looking Lake Union, and watching the seaplanes take off.
Well– maybe I can… Add some tasty salmon & rice, great service, good looking waitresses– and there you have it. This was my Monday!
I can’t tell you what it’s like here for dinner, or what it’s like to sit inside in the restaurant or the bar. But if the sun is shining– check this place out for lunch. It’s a pretty fantastic experience.

Good times, it’s a micro City by the Sea this place! But they’re a little naughty here. I got tao (oops, didn’t mean to write «tao»), got to call them out on it. The bathroom was not just filthy. It was offensively filthy. No paper towels, and everything gross and dirty. I dried my hands like a 12-​year kid does by waving my hands around like a flapping bird. This bathroom… yech… yuk! …It obviously wasn’t attended to for many hours.
That’s a shame because the food was terrific, the view onto the sea was scenic beauty to the max, the techno-​synthesizer music was invigorating, and Jessica was a great waitress/​wit/​entertainer.
FOOD: My BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, on an artisan bun with crispy cole slaw, was surely the best damn sandwich I’ve ever had of its kind. I thought the Vietnamese cornered the market on this sandwich, but Joey’s got L-​O-​V-​E put into this yum-​thing. The chicken wings appetizer wasn’t anything outrageously new, but sometimes you want to know exactly what you’re going to get and this was good for [male] comfort food. Great crunchy on the outside Ahi Tuna Tacos with a delicate seared tuna inside. Great braised rib meat on mashed potatoes (you can probably guess, I tried my family’s plates).
Sunday night was [awesome] $ 2.99 Mojito night. While short on the mint, they’re pretty damn good and on par with most of Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans (and other cities Sir Sean Pitbull has been to).
It’s too damn chic and trendy in there, with great views and fun service, to be letdown by atrocious bathroom neglect. Management: Please keep a better eye on this. You want us back, don’t you?

Went here for a FRIENDS BIRTHDAY PARTY equaling a good 20+ amount of people. In which my guy and I ended up ordering the ‘Steak Mushrooms’ and ‘Full Rack Baby Back Ribs.’
Considering the amount of people, I only assumed the wait for our food would take a while. But aside from the food, OUR DRINKS WERE ORDERED THE SECOND WE SAT DOWN and brought to us VERY shortly after. I was pretty impressed considering the bad experience we had at the SOUTHCENTER location was pretty bad. HAAAAH!
Aside from the wait, our food was delicious. The baby back ribs PEELED off the bone, and although I’m REALLY not a big fan of cole-​slaw, I managed to take a couple bites of it, because honestly it wasn’t half as bad as I expected it to be.
STEPHANIE’S AMAZING! If you get her as a waitress, you’re gonna be a lucky customer.
