Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft

They had the things I came in to buy, but I hope to avoid coming back here ever again.
Parking is nearly impossible, the store itself feels dank and creepy, and service (while very kind) was SUPER slow.

Disappointing is the best word to describe this place. I called earlier to reserve something for me to picked up. The person said, «Sure! It’ll be here waiting for you!» Guess what, it wasn’t. I got to the store after work to pick it up and they looked confused and said they told me it wasn’t available. Uh– that’s interesting because you told me the EXACT opposite a few hours ago. Waste of my time. Also– it’s a pretty depressing interior– but I guess which Joann’s or Michael’s is really that nice…

Incompetent and lazy staff, I’ve never had good customer service here. Recently, I had a coupon from the app and the cashier refused to apply it. Plain and clear are the instructions and expiration date. Another time an associate ripped me off my measuring way under the yards I wanted but charged me for all of it.
There are better places with staff who don’t hate their lives wishing to inflict the same misery onto customers.

Terrible customer service. I had to literally chase the only employee that appeared to be working around the store to ask a simple question. Since I’ve had multiple issues In the past with items not scanning at their sale price, I asked the girl at the cutting counter if the fabric I choose was on sale. She replied with «I don’t know, I just started working here.» After a few awkward seconds of her not appearing to make an attempt to check, I asked «well, is there a way you can find out?» She replied (with a snarky time and a dirty look) «that’s what I’m doing!» She told me it was not, it must be another fabric on sale. I showed her the sign that clearly stated that fabric line was 50% off. «That’s an old sign» she said. The sign indicated the sale ended a week ago. She was kind enough to honor the sale price that was advertised. After I walked around the store and noticed they had not removed any of their sale signs from the sale that ended last week. I can’t imagine I’m the first one this week that had the same issue.

Update: New crop of 20-​somethings working here and often they are snooty… seem to be taking on the bad attitude that the old ladies of the Lynnwood store consistently have and they’re offended when you ask them to do their job and assist you. Getting help here and be treating without disdain (b/​c you don’t have blue hair and facial piercings?) is a crap shoot these days. I really don’t want to give my money to Hobby Lobby, though.

Came for fabric for a theatre project as a first time fabric shopper and was assisted by Ms. Deborah who was wonderful

today I took my number for the cutting table and the two cutters took 2 customers who just walked over, before me without using the numbers. each had many cuttings to do from at least 6 different fabrics! i couldn’t decide whether to walk or not, but finally I didn’t want to drive up to the other Joann’s way up on Aurora. When I asked the employee who finally was available after 20 mins, if they’d stopped taking numbers, she was very cagey about the answer, saying «we try to.» bullshit. they completely ignored me. i spend a lot of money there, making quilts and household items for others. the snobbery of the employees is the last straw for me.

I visited yesterday and was helped by Laurelene (I’m sure I spelled her wrong name) She was super friendly and helpful!

I’m from the Midwest where JoAnnes are an institution — big and busy with an awesome selection of crafting materials. This one is not any of those things, and they have a really really poor selection of yarn. But the staff is very friendly!

Only 2 cashiers for a store with 7 registers. 25 people in line. Hire more people bad management. Waist of the customers time. Will seek a more customer friendly store next time.

I have had my last horrible experience at this Joann’s. His past weekend I rented a car for an hour to go get a few fabrics and I knew exactly what i wanted. When I asked the gal working where I could find faux leather she rolled her eyes at me and pointed down a row. LAter when I couldn’t find the oven mit batting I asked her again and she looked annoyed and looked where it was supposed to be but couldn’t find it either so she checked in the back and never got back to me about it. At this point I needed to hustle and get out so it had her cut the fabrics I was able to find. I told her I would be returning some fabric, but she lacked to mention she would need to measure them to accept the returns. I have never returned fabric before but you think if you were to tell the gal at the cutting counter you planned to do that she would say hey I’ll need to just measure that for you. She also took about twenty minutes cutting five fabrics stopping every few minutes to assist this other employee who knew nothing about working there. I understand helping a coworker but not to the extent of holding up a now HUGE line. When I went to check out this other gal was super not helpful on my returns amd when she range me up she started manually adding in my cutting counter purchases and put on a bunch of duplicate items and Didnt know where to start to fix it. At this point I was so frustrated I left without making a single purchase. This store has embarrassingly low standards when it comes to customer services. On other occasions when I had called in to have them hold some yarn for me they mismatched the dye lot even though the same dye lot was available. I would recommend going to the Joann’s in shoreline, the people are so much more helpful and friendlyx

I’ve done quite a bit of crafting this year, and this is the closest all-​round craft store in the area. And while they have a little bit of everything, they don’t have a great selection on any of it. The ribbon section is lacking, especially by the spool. They also have very little (no?) natural fiber yarn. So while I do trek from Capitol Hill to Ballard and fight the bad parking, I’d prefer a craft shop that doesn’t yet exist except in my mind.

I like this shop, I wish the parking was better but the staff is always friendly and I don’t have troubles finding what I need.

Went on line to JoAnn fabric’s website two days ago and the fabric I wanted was $ 7.99 a yard. Waited a day and went back on line and it went up to $ 8.99. Now two days later it’s gone up to $ 11.49, but you can get a coupon for 20% off! Okay, so where is the real deal here!!! What a rip off! You’ve just helped me make my decision… I’m not purchasing anything with JoAnn Fabric’s. Good luck this holiday season.

Not a craft store. Don’t go here if you have a supplies list for your next project. This store is only good for browsing discounted knick knacks and cheap random items. It looks more like a thrift store or dollar store than someplace for crafters. The yarn selection is atrocious — cheap, ugly colors, mostly synthetics. I went looking for some very basic staples of crafting: wool felt sheets, wool roving, needle felting tools, dense-​rigid foam, small craft eyes, and found none of it. Staff unfriendly/​unhelpful. Store in utter disarray. Wait time in line 15+ minutes. Don’t waste your time, go to a real craft store.

This Jo-​Ann location is just as good as any other, HOWEVER, their parking is atrocious! There are like 4 spots total and they’re always taken, which forces you to pay for parking on the street :(
Other than that, the customer service is always helpful and they also take competitors coupons.

Came for a work trip. Don’t ask.
The selection was good. The cashier was nice. The GPS directions sucked but that’s not their fault. The items we purchased were 40% off. Yowsa.
It is a fine store. Go here for your crafting needs.

This Jo Ann’s is limited when it comes to their upholstery and fabrics. I’m currently making a storage couch with my bf and haven’t had much luck with finding a nice looking fabric for the cover. However, they do carry burlap, batting and foam (which I found to be pricey).
Pro tip: download the Jo Ann’s app on your phone. There are always coupons to use on your purchases. I did that plus my Bank of America cash rewards offer and saved a good chunk of money.
Its a good place to go for stuff you need right away but if you are looking for cute fabrics to works with, I recommend going to a small fabric boutique or

I drive an extra 7 miles up to the Shoreline branch because they are sooooo much nicer and helpful. This Ballard branch IS AWFUL. They hire rude, gossipy people and their store layout is very confusing. Also, their parking situation is really awful. They have a lot for maybe 4 cars and that’s it. They REALLY need to work on their customer service.
There was one woman working there who refused to let me use my teachers discount card because apparently I looked «too young to be a teacher». Let’s be clear, the only way to get a teachers is by bringing in an ID or paycheck from the school you work at. The card had the same name on it as my Driver’s License and debit card. I ended up not buying anything because she was so rude.

Jo-Ann’s came to my rescue tonight!
Tomorrow is «International Talk Like A Pirate Day» and my unit at work is pretty serious about getting dressed up. I needed some red cotton fabric to make a sash and a bandana. Jo-Ann’s was open until 9pm, and I even scored an extra 50% off of my fabric so my total was under $ 4!
In particular, Julia, an older staff member who helped me cut up a 1.25 yards of the material, was super helpful. She offered great advice on how much fabric I needed to make a sash and bandana. She even went above and beyond and helped me with getting the proper dimensions to make a sash and bandana. I was really lucky to have had her help, given some of the reviews of the other staff members.
I walked into Jo-Ann’s not expecting much after reading so many of these reviews, but came out super excited that my mission was accomplished, and at such a cheap price! Thank you, Julia!
