Best meal I’ve had since going vegetarian ~ 5 years ago. Vegetarian beef is divine and leaves one with the question why there should be real beef meat at all. Had tamarind and peanut sauce noodles with thick noodles. Comes in thick, ultra tasty gravy. Décor of the place is very basic – I would recommend to focus on the food. Enjoy!!!

This is by far the best or one of the best Asian fusion restaurants I have been to in the Seattle area. Their portion sizes are huge. They also provide complimentary dessert which is equally tasty. I highly recommend this! They also have«meat»(fake) options which is great for meat eaters, though I haven’t tried them. Try their pleasure noodle soup… truly a great pleasure!

My partner and I ate here for the first time tonight. The food is excellent. I had spicy cashew noodles and he had a(faux) chicken coconut bowl with brown rice and veggies. I also had their Thai iced tea and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. They give you some sticky black rice pudding for dessert, just enough to kill the sweet tooth, it was delicious. This will be a weekly(or more) stop.

Excellent noodle soup. We tried the coconut soup with udon noodles. The portion size was great(good for sharing) and quite tasty. Each entrée comes with a dessert(in our case it was rice pudding). Great for vegetarians. Would recommend.

Grabbed a late dinner here on a Friday night. We had the larb duck, spicy coconut milk fried rice with tofu, and Pad Thai. All vegan. All super delicious. Friendly staff. Not too pricey. Solid choice. Highly recommend.

It’s a small cozy place that serves huge portions. I ordered a cashew pineapple fried rice and it looked great and tasted good too ! I loved the variety in vegetarian food. The fried tofu tastes great. The service is okay — it was mostly just one lady serving all the tables.

The garlic noodles are so good! Ate here with a dozen carnivores and everyone left filled and happy. Highly recommend. Friendly staff.

This is one of the best meals I’ve had in recent history. Even non vegetarians are sure to be impressed by the flavor and variety. We got a seasonal special Mr Ming noodles(Szechuan style) and an appetizer called melting culture. They were both amazing! The portion sizes are pretty big, between the two of us we split an appetizer and entrée and barely finished because we were so full.

Fast service, tasty food, healthy ingredients. What more could you want? Oh and it’s pretty inexpensive. We ordered the Mongolian«chicken» and the fresh tofu rolls with cinnamon peanut sauce. Both were delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Excellent for non-vegetarians as well, I have been craving their food since Thursday last week when we flew in directly from LA. We showed up at a packed house just before closing and they managed to accommodate us. Appetizers are to die for — fried tofu is perfectly crisp outside and perfectly soft inside… And oh, that peanut sauce! We came back a couple days later and their rice and Thai pasta dishes did not disappoint. I can’t wait to go back — too bad they don’t deliver to LA

Great hole in the wall restaurant ! Menu offers a wide variety of soy«meats» and dishes ranging from noodles to curries and more. My personal favorite is the garlic noodles with chicken option. The place is quite small and generally busy, definitely a no-frills environment but excellent food for price!

I love vegetarian thai places and this one tops my list =) I got the curry coconut vermecelli soup with vegan chicken meat. The portions are generous and flavor is very rich and full of coconut flavor. It reminds me of a place on the Ave… they also give black rice pudding as a dessert. Will definately go back for my curry fix!

Pretty great spot to get a hot and spicy plate of noodles on a rainy Seattle day. The chili paste noodles delivered on both of the above, and the price was right. I’ll be going back for another round next time I’m in the area. The key here is that the dishes are flavorful. They didn’t feel bland like something was missing, which is often the case when you take standard noodle dishes and just omit the meat-based components, probably because these dishes were developed from the ground up as vegetarian dishes, so any kinks got worked out a long time ago.

Oh man this place was amazing. I got wide rice noodles, veggies(including lettuce which was weird but great), fake chicken, and peanut sauce. I was really blown away by how good and flavorful it was and the fast service. I’d love to visit again soon.

Love! The food they have to offer is so incredibly delicious. Small cute restaurant with the kitchen in sight which allows you to see your food being prepared under big flames on the stove. Window seating is by far the best place to sit & enjoy your meal while watching the busy city life unfold outside. I got a dish with cashews–(wish I could remember the name) that came with noodles, tofu and a whole bunch of other yummy ingredients like green onions & peanut cashew sauce. Absolutely devine!

This place is amazing. I went yesterday for the first time and wish I could go back every day. I was dining alone so I ordered just the pumpkin curry on their seasonal specials. It was incredible. Everything about it was so on point. The soy chicken was some of the best tasting fake meat product I have ever tried. I will be back and I will urge vegans and non vegans alike to visit this place with urgency.

I’m an avid meat eater. Every time I go out to eat somewhere, I get something with some form of animal in it. However, I was raised vegetarian, so I’ve tasted my fair share of fake meat substitutes. In The Bowl is an entirely vegetarian restaurant with the option to make many things vegan. I always walked by and saw it full, and I didn’t think there could be that many vegans in Capitol Hill(though maybe I’m underestimating our non-meat eating population. After reading the reviews here, I decided to give it a shot. The substitution meat at In The Bowl is the best I’ve ever had. I got the pleasure noodle soup with beef(not real!) and it was fantastic. The soup base was creamy and slightly spicy, with a wonderfully acidic burst from lime. The vegetables were crunchy and served as a perfect contrast to the thin rice noodles. The beef had the texture of pulled pork or something similar. It didn’t taste exactly like beef, but it’s the closest imitation I’ve ever had, and I’d order it again for sure. I also tried my date’s eggplant curry, which was delicious. There were complimentary red bean pudding cups with coconut milk swirl that came with the check. That was a nice little surprise. Definitely worth checking this place out, both for those with dietary restrictions and the avid omnivore.

I got the pleasure noodle and oh myyyy it was so bomb. I went for lunch with 3 friends who all have different dietary needs. I pretty much eat everything without complaint so I wasn’t. I didn’t plan on loving it as much as I seriously did though. That soup base was SOGOOD. I salivated about it for a couple more days and ate my leftovers within the next 2 hours. Bringing back a couple friends this coming weekend to get my next fix. :) Tips: This place lets you customize EVERYTHING. There are many kinds of noodles to choose from and there are gluten-free options too.

This place smells AMAZING, so our mediocre noodles were supremely disappointing. My food tastes like refrigerator, and the price points weren’t a deal by any stretch of the imagination. Even though In The Bowl is just a block away from our home, we won’t be returning for its bland flavor.

Has to be my favorite Thai restaurant. Very creative and wide variety of items in the menu that has both healthy items and indulgent ones. For appetizers, I am a fan of the fresh spring rolls, the peanut sauce dip is delicious! And for the entrée, I always get either the Garlic mania noodle or the angel curry. So good. I also like the roti with curry. I used to eat here every other day when I lived on cap hill! The owners are friendly and I love the little black rice pudding dessert they offer with your meal. Get fancy and order a coconut with a straw for the drink.

Amazing!!! Very small hole in the wall restaurant with limited seating but the food left me craving it for days. I recommend this place to anyone, even people who aren’t vegan.

This is my favorite place to eat in Seattle. I love all of their different«meats,» but my favorite has got to be the fried tofu in their soups. It is just about the best tofu I have had in my entire life. My favorite dish is the Easy Day Noodle soup with tofu, they have great udon noodles! The place is quite small, and as someone who runs on more of the toasty temperature side — the restaurant can get extremely hot. I generally sit close to the window to alleviate this. If you are claustrophobic you might want to opt for take-out(which is still just as amazing!). The price is pretty darn cheap too. Whether you are a vegetarian, vegan, or dairy and meat lover you definitely need to try this place!

This is where I go when I don’t know what I want. The food is really tasty, the portions are great and a good value… and if you order a dish that comes with thedessert, you’ll have the best two bites of salty, sweet black bean/coconut heaven ever. Also, the fake duck is something I crave on the regular and most fake meats give me the creeps. Favorites: tom yum soup, any of the curries, garlic mania noodle.

Every time I came here this place was always good. The food had great ingredients, waitress was friendly, checks on us. Family and friend restaurant(?). However this is small but it has bigger taste, great food, easygoing. Hopefully they will expand their restaurant in future. Love it. Free street parking, or pay for park nearby.

You know that one Carly Rae Jepsen song that goes like«I really, really, really… like you»? Replace every instance of «you» in the song with«noodles» and you’ve perfectly summed up my feelings for In The Bowl. It’s AMAZING. There’s so much to choose from on the menu. If you decided to go here for dinner every day for a whole month, you will NEVER run out of options because there’s so much to choose from! The best part? Every dish is super super good. It’s not like In the Bowl does just a couple of their dishes well — they do EVERYTHINGSOWELL. It blew my mind. I decided to get the Pleasure Bowl, which has a coconut milk broth(I’m a sucker for this) with all kinds of veggies and your choice of noodles. I decided to get the small rice noodles, which turned out to be a divine combination. Here’s the thing — at first, I was a little surprised that most of the noodle bowls were around $ 11-$ 13. But you quickly realize, when you get your food, why this is. The portions are HUGE. Everyone at our table took their food home — and trust me, we don’t eat like birds. In the Bowl is my happy place. It is my new favorite place in Capitol Hill. I really, really, really, really, really, really, really like you.

These guys do curry pretty well. We had both the pumpkin curry and the eggplant curry. We ordered them without any spice, yet, they made it pretty spicy. I was really sick so I couldn’t taste anything, but my throat was pretty sensitive to peppers at the time. It(the pumpkin one) burned like a mother so I had to stop eating it. I tried the curry again the following day(when I could actually taste it) and they were both pretty good. The fried tofu was the best part — they put really large pieces in there. I’m usually obsessed with pumpkin curries in general, but their pumpkin curry was just okay. Their eggplant curry on the other hand, was the shit. Omg it was so good. It seems like they used the same sauce for both, but they do a pretty decent job. If I lived in Seattle I would order curry from here again.

Let me tell you about how I became a regular here. When I found out about In The Bowl, I ate here once a week for almost three months straight. I’m not kidding. Yup, now I’m a regular! So, even though I’m not vegetarian, I freaking love the fake beef. Not sure how they do it, but it’s delicious. After trying most of the menu(which isn’t hard if you eat here as frequently as I do), my favorite is spicy green bean noodle with udon and fake beef, the chili paste rice a close second, and basil basil is third. The Tom Kha soup with soft tofu is so flavorful, it’s my appetizer of choice along with the fresh spring rolls(which they are often out of, boo hoo). Don’t let the appearance of this little hole in the wall fool you, or be deterred because it’s a vegetarian restaurant. You won’t miss the meat! Friends I bring here often say that the texture is spot on! I can tell the difference with most of it but the beef is pretty«meaty» IMO. Now this rice pudding dessert thing at the end. I’ve never gotten used to the flavor(blughghgh– no offense). It’s salty and there’s corn in it. I’m the last person to say«no» to dessert, but I can’t seem to like it. I’ve tried eating it as is, stirring it, adding water(yes, the servers looked at me as if I was crazy), holding my breath and eating it, adding Thai iced tea to it, you name it. I just don’t like it and always opt out so they don’t waste it on me. I DO love when they give oranges as dessert in the summertime. Now that’s a dessert I could get used to! Also, I should probably mention if you can’t take the heat, don’t order it. Five stars means like 7 and half. I’m not kidding. Staff, while nice, are pretty pushy. Turn around time is pretty important to them. Don’t be offended if you get your bill with your food, it’s how they do. Parking? What’s that?! Oh, and the bathroom is like a jungle(fake animal noises and all), totally cracks me up! I love it!

June 2015 and it’s been at least one year since my last visit here. A friend and I needed a recovery meal post a two-day festival at the Gorge Amphitheater. Whatever is currently lacking in this small restaurant’s interior décor(ie– plain walls, lack of plants and cultural works of art) is being made up for in food quality and exciting vegetarian tastes. I had the beef noodle soup with wide rice noodles while my friend ordered a coconut curry noodle bowl. The owner has an interesting story as to why she had to remove the East Indian art and music from her place of business. Note: although there are meat items in the menu, this is vegetarian«meat», and it took me 3 visits to even realize it wasn’t real meat.

One of the 1st places I came after moving to Seattle, not a bad way to start. A cute little veggie friendly Thai place that does a pretty good mix of everything asian. Its in a great location and the food is good so its worth a stop by. The long and short of it. 1. Panang Curry. Their curry is solid and it seems like everything is made with fresh ingrediants. What really stood out to me was actually the plating and presentation, which is kind of dumb but it tasted good as well so I can live with myself. Its good curry, Ill try other dishes next time. 2. Veggies! Everything here is vegetarian. The curry is vegetarian. The stir fry is vegetarian. The noodles are vegetarian. The servers may be made of veggies, I was too polite to bite one and check. 3. Size. The place is pretty tiny. Small enough where I can see it getting full up around lunch. Plan accordingly. 4. Portions. The portions are big, big enougfh to match the price. Unless you’re on a quest to kill yourself via food consumption(see 80% of my life) you’ll go home with leftovers. Not the worst thing in the world thats happened. 5. Price. Slightly more expensive than you’re typical lunch spot. Closer to $ 15/meal than $ 10 6. List of things you should be aware of. — They dont take Amex — Its all vegetarian, find your meat elsewhere you peasant Pretty excited to live so close to this place… you’ll find me here often(I’ll be the guy slouched in the corner nursing a food hangover). Theres plenty of veggie friendly places in Seattle, but this is a good one to add near the top of your list. Now if you’ll excuse me, I hear the rest of some curry asking to be punished. Overall Grade: B+

Their garlic mania with veggie chicken and udon noodles was like an out of body experience. It was SO good. The veggies were crisp, the sauce super flavorful and the udon noodles probably the best I’ve ever had. This place did surprise me though both in its small size and the costs of the plates. As someone who’s used to paying less than $ 10 per entrée I was pretty shocked by the $ 12+ price tag on most these bowls. I can say though without certainty that these noodle bowls are so so worth it. Service was speedy and friendly, we enjoyed that you can watch your delicious noodles being poached and stir fried. Friends enjoyed the yakisoba and ginger udon noodles with the same level of «omg this amazing» as I had experienced. There so much more menu to try.
