How green are your thumbs?! Apparently, my thumbs aren’t very green at all, but Holly Park Greenhouse and Nursey is a good place to get your«plants» on. As long as I’ve lived in Seattle, this place has been around. Tucked away near MLK Way in a neighborhood, you’d never know that this mom & pop place even existed. It definitely has character — Quite honestly, the building is a little run down, but the space is fairly open. You don’t necessarily see a lot of colorful plants, but it’s a solid place to find plants that you can grow and eat. If it can go into my belly as food, it’s a win-win. You can also find more obscure Asian plants or seeds here, compared to other stores. I found a small melon plant for less than $ 2. Overall, it’s pretty inexpensive to get into gardening, so I recommend giving it a try!

Going to this nursery is like going on a treasure hunt. You never know what you might find here. They have some unique plants and pretty Asian style plant containers. The place needs to be tidied up(thus a star off), but the prices are fair. I will definitely be back.

I just moved to Hillman City and this is my newneighbonursery. I’ve lived in many neighborhoods in Seattle and this is my favorite nursery in the last twenty years. They were very helpful.

Apparently it aint so easy to find cactus(cacti? cactuses? cacteese?) in the PNW… I called Holly Park though and he said he had a few so we went to check it out. It was crazy to see how large the place is — it’s like a little jungle in the middle of the city. Most things looked well taken care of though labels were hard to find. The man there was very helpful and gave us a bit of a break on the plants we ended up purchasing since we bought so many(40 prickly pears and 3 little succulents). So far they’re doing well — I think that given the environment they were decently healthy. I’m trying to keep them alive for the next two weeks(at least) though and kind of wishing I’d left them at Holly Park instead of bringing them into my incompetent hands! He called the gloves he gave us to handle the cactuses«claws».

I love love love this place! The plants are varied and interesting, healthy, and affordable. The vibe is chill, the folks are helpful, and the cat is sweet. It is not your run of the mill nursery-lots of overgrown treasures and dusty old corners to explore. Well worth the visit! I try to go a few times a year to support this little neighborhood joint. Lowes and Home Depot might be more manicured, but don’t judge a book by its cover.

It’s okay… It is good place for large outdoor plants. It was pretty pricey for how unkept the place is, Home Depot had larger healthier plants for less… I didnt like it when I walked into the aisle and got a face full of spider web, in like almost every aisle and corner… Maybe spring time is a better here…

You can get pretty good deals on plants here. I got 2 medium sized house plants and 3 other small plants for 30 $. They also have little bags of decorative rocks and gravel for under $ 5. The Asian man working there was nice and helpful picking out my house plants. Down side is that not all plants are labeled, and its kind of hard to walk around the place and find something if you are looking for a specific plant.

I LOVE this place! I am a total novice gardener and bought some starts here in June. The overalls-clad, stern man at the counter gave me great advice on planting and soil, threw in some starts for free and let me pet the cute kitties that run around there. I have to say that my plants out performed everyone on my block, were delicious, and hearty. The selection is great, the owner packs his own seeds in adorable little handstamped packs, the cats are awesome, and the place feels wild, a little unkempt and really fun. GOGOGO to this place. You will not be let down. Screw big box — step in to this little garden of wonderment off MLK.(but don’t go here if a little organic disorder bothers you. But then again, why are you gardening?)

Went here with my dad trying to find a cherry blossom tree so he can take it home with him. It was not what I was expecting from a nursery. Very unorganized and it was not a pretty site to go in. When I think of nurseries, they are organized and things are labeled and presentable so that I know what the plant is going to look like and what it is. Don’t think I’ll ever step foot there again.

Went back for the third time and got a huge box of starts, some seeds and two four-foot high tomato plants. The bill was $ 30. Amazing deals. Quality plants. Friendly and helpful and knowledgeable staff. A bit quirky, yes, but some of us like that! Okay, it’s hella quirky, but in all the right ways.

Visited this location for the first time yesterday. It’s a bit off beat, not as squeaky clean & meticulously organized as swansons or some of the other large, expensive nurseries in the area, but thatspart of this place’s charm. They have a surprisingly large selection of edibles & ornamentals, considering I drove by it 2 times without even noticing it. They have a large outdoor area with bushes and trees. Most impressive though was the selection of indoor plants, and herb/vegetable seedlings. They also have a very large makeshift greenhouse with flowers, annuals and some vegetable seedlings. I bought artichoke, mint, eggplant and tomato seedlings Prices were fair and the owner friendly This was a great surprise find for me and I’m grateful to have it in the neighborhood. Definitely plan on buying garden plants and supplies here rather than at Lowes or driving over to next closest nursery in West Seattle in the future.

It’s unusual to find a rich, well developed greenhouse in the inner-city. The big box stores have all but eliminated these businesses but Holly Park Greenhouse proves why they can survive and why they should be patronized. This nursery has a vast collection of local climate friendly plants, but with a twist of Asian influence and horticultural advice to help them thrive. There’s fruit trees, flowers, vegetables and decorative plans. They also have interesting and unique accessories you’re not going to find in other stores. And the aesthetic is magical. How can you not be charmed with a greenhouse that has various aromas not normally smelled, surrounded with a mosaic of colors from the many flowers they have blooming in the main greenhouse? After one visit, I’m hooked, they’re getting my repeat business.

This is a good-sized nursery tucked into a lot just off MLK. It’s about 5 miles from my house in Beacon Hill, about 8 miles south of downtown. It’s easy to miss – the sign is back behind the fence, and there are large shrubs hiding the nursery area. Follow the google maps directions and park on Willow St. Holly Park Greenhouse & Nursery is chock-full of hardy plants, trees, and other garden center stuff – plus a lot of specialty items targeting the Asian community in the neighborhood. Persimmon trees, lots of citrus, specialty plums – they have it all. The owner/operator is friendly and matter-of-fact. Not pushy, but accessible and very willing to share his impressive wealth of knowledge. I got a Korean Lilac and two red-branch Dogwood trees for $ 48. They were all in 4 gallon pots and very healthy. Great price, great service, great selection. And locally owned – yay!
