Must try the Tibetan stew. This is one of the best Himalayan food place in town. We are vegetarians and found quite a number of good authentic dishes that didn’t taste like Indian food knock off.

Went with friends on new years day. The food was good and quantity was good as well. I had a chicken entrée which pretty much tasted like indian butter chicken as expected. The ambience is full of pictures of himalayas, yet it looked a bit dull. The food was good but expensive at the same time.
I know plenty indian restaurants around that serve equally good food but cheaper. A good change up place nevertheless.

Visited this restaurant on a sunday. The food was okay. Wasn’t that great. We ordered chicken and veg dumplings and chicken curry. I would recommend cap hills annapurna restaurant for better sherpan food.

My wife & I were staying in the area & decided to be adventurous & try something new. We were NOT disappointed. We got there early so not very busy but the food & service were great. The tables have maps of the Nepal area so it was interesting to look at that while we waited for food. We had a sampler plate to try a variety. We would go back.

Visited on 12÷27÷15. Overall it was a learning experience.
tldr; stick to the momo’s — go to an Indian restaurant for Indian food — I will be trying Annapurna Café’s momo’s to compare.
Pro’s:
— The momo platter was decent — some were soggy and falling apart (we had 5 chicken /​5 beef)
— The chai was good and free refills
Con’s:
— The chicken curry was very disappointing. It was basically pieces of chicken breast heated up in a tomato purée and passed off as a «curry». yuck
— This is a weird «con», but the temperature in the restaurant… It definitely felt like we were in the Himalaya’s… *brrr*
— The naan was average.
— Price (we ended up paying about $ 40 for the 2 of us — no alcohol)

If you only depend on others, you will soon go hungry, states a Nepali saying. Don’t depend on others… get yourself to Himalayan Sherpa House and feed your hunger for wonderful Nepali and Himalayan food.
Since I was a boy I always found Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan to be some of the most exotic places on the earth and having had the opportunity to visit the area I have also fell in love with the food. Himalayan Sherpa House not only has great food, but it also is decorated nicely.
Anyone who has traveled to Nepal has probably had to buy several maps since it is hard to get a signal in many of the more rural parts of the country. It was very nice to sit at a table with an actual map of Nepal underneath the glass. It brought back memories and added to the ambiance and it was great to think about some of my fond memories from some of the locations on the map.
I have been here several times and have never had a bad experience. All of the food is always wonderful and the service is exceptional. They filled my cup of chai up many times and I didn’t even need to ask. They also came and refilled our water as well as asked if we needed anything else.
There are some very solid dishes at Himalayan Sherpa House. The last time I was here I had the chai which is wonderful and tastes freshly made. I really liked the taste of it and it was very aromatic as well. As an appetizer we had the Momo Appetizer. The momos are handmade, and you can get them steamed or fried. These Tibetan dumplings come stuffed with beef, chicken, pork or vegetables. They also come with a great tasty dipping sauce that compliments the taste of the momos.
We also got a small portion of Dal Bhat a lentil soup. It was perfect! We also got a side of naan to go with it. The naan is baked in a tandoor and is brushed with gee. It goes perfectly with the dal. They have several types of bread available including plain, onion, garlic and cheese.
For the main courses we ordered the Thukpa which is a Large bowl of noodles & fresh vegetables in a flavorful broth. It comes with a side of naan. We also ordered the Tibetan Noodles. It is a large plate of noodles with fresh vegetables. You can also add meat to it. All of the dishes tasted as well as we have had in the Himalayas which made the whole experience even more pleasurable.
Great food, great service and a nice environment to enjoy a meal. I will be back again.

Been there twice so far. The price is reasonable and portion is generous. I had momo, saag, and Himalayan stew so far and I loved them all. I’ve had momo at different restaurant but momo @ Himalayan Sherpa House is so much better. I love the spicy sauce come with it too.
Himalayan stew is perfect for cold and rainy days. The soup is thick and very flavorful. I have to say this is one of the best veggie stew I’ve ever had. I would try that again with lamb next time.

You should just go here. It is awesome! And if you want to know what to order try the Dal Bhat and the cheesy nan bread! The Dal Bhat comes with their regular nan bread, but the cheesy nan is worth getting as well! And I’m not even into cheese, it just makes the nan bread even better somehow and it is the best nan bread possible!
The restaurant itself can take small & big groups of people and it is casual and comfortable. I’m typically a little bit cool in there, so bring a sweater if you are typically on the cold side. The owner and the staff are awesome!

We came here for lunch and we weren’t disappointed. We had the beef momo, the chicken korma and the Himalayan stew. We also ordered a side of garlic naan. Everything was good. Portion was generous and price was decent to.
I’m surprise that it wasn’t as busy cause the food was good. The service was a little slow though. It took close to 45 minutes to get our food and we were the only one in the restaurant. But I shouldn’t complain because everything was made to order. Overall, I would come back.

We really enjoyed our first experience here tonight. The atmosphere was very relaxed, quiet, and tranquil. The customer service was attentively friendly and similarly calm. The menu has Nepalese, Indian, and Tibetan fare. We both opted for the Himalayan stew. It was piping hot, with plenty of Naan bread. A great fall meal. Thank you, Rinzin, for welcoming us, and to the chefs for the great food!

While visiting my sister we were near the Sherpa and I asked whether she’d tried it. Sis is adventurous but hadn’t yet given Himalayan food a try.
It’s a wonderful fusion, pleasantly merging Chinese style dumplings and noodles with Indian curries. My wife and sister had two types of curry which were both great, while I had the lamb Nepalese noodles. I really loved what I had. The noodles were distinct in flavor from Chinese noodles and had a great texture, with plenty of fresh veggies and tender, succulent lamb that was well trimmed.
We also sampled the dumplings and stuffed naan, both were excellent. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Himalayan Sherpa. The only thing keeping this review at 4 stars is the menu is not expansive, some categories have only 3 options. Being ignorant of Nepalese cuisine it’s possible there’s not much to represent, but a few more options would be nice.
All told it’s a great place with a warm atmosphere!

Really love this place! Having been to Nepal, the momo platter brings back memories of the time I spent backpacking by myself in Kathmandu! My fiancé and I even brought our parents here for a family dinner!
The house beer is delicious, I think it’s called the himalayan ale. As for food, the naan is one of the best I’ve ever had, almost reminds me of a chapathi in how flaky it is. We love the lamb curry (or even better is the thali with the lamb curry), tika masala and the vindaloo!
We’ve met the owner, Ang and he is so awesome to talk to about Everest and Nepal in general. The spices are definitely a bit more muted than a lot of Indian places but that is what I had in Nepal as well. The food is really delicious and we will definitely be back more often.

They have really good authentic Nepali food, friendly/​hospitable staff, and, nice décor. I loved their pork momo (dumpling), chicken sekua, and iced milk tea. They I would definitely go back here, and bring friends here to try their great Nepali food.

Wonderful food! I got the Dal Baht, which is like a sampler platter of all that is delicious. And I know the leftovers will be good tomorrow, too.
Some of the best/​most satisfying Dall I have ever had, and I’ve had a lot!
The décor is beautiful, and the staff are polite and helpful. I’d love to see the place busier, but it is a bit «out of the way» for a big lunch crowd.

Had a pretty disappointing experience here tonight. My boyfriend and I came in for dinner, and we were seated at once. The staff is extremely friendly and polite – full points there. To start out, we were given some pappadums with dipping chutneys. Not super crisp, but one of those dips packed a punch of spice!
Since Indian food has been much more of a mainstay in my life (thanks to my ethnicity), I decided to try something from the Tibetan side of the menu. I got a stew that came with naan, and my boyfriend got the Tibetan noodles. My stew was extremely underwhelming – hardly any meat in it, and a broth that tasted kind of generic and not spiced at all. The noodles were super greasy and didn’t have any memorable flavour to them either. Despite having a Groupon, we did not think the food was worth the price we paid, and would definitely not return to pay full prices. The only saving grace was that the portions were huge, but it’s unfortunate that the taste came nowhere close.

It’s new, it’s «hot» (according to Unilocal), so of course I had to try it. Have to say, I was disappointed with my experience here. The dishes all had great presentation but really lacked flavor.
Started out with the beef momo appetizer, and that was meh. The dipping sauces that it came with were not spicy or flavorful. Entrees consisted of saag paneer and Tibetan stew with chicken with a side of garlic naan. The saag was boring and a bit on the dry side. The stew had a lot of great ingredients (potatoes, carrots, dough dumplings, etc.) and was perfect for a rainy evening, but it really lacked flavor as well. I found myself pouring salt and pepper into these dishes, and I’ve never had to do that at a Himalayan/​Nepalese/​Indian cuisine restaurant ever! The naan was a great consistency but didn’t really taste of garlic. Sadly, the one thing that had the most flavor the entire evening was my Coke (and I hardly ever drink soda).
It’s a shame that I didn’t enjoy the food more, because the atmosphere is inviting and friendly. Service could be a bit improved as well; we had to wait quite awhile to flag someone down for our check. Maybe I’ll give it another go after it’s been open a bit longer.

The food here is meh. I like that although they have some Indian items on their menu that they have tried to stay true to Tibetan/​Nepali flavors. This means that the spicing and flavors are lighter than what is typically found in Indian food. Although in some instances the food seemed too bland… which is not authentic.
I ordered the vegetable momo platter (steamed). The momos were rather large in size and difficult to eat. I cut them in half and then had to try to not let all the filling spill out. They were served with tomato chutney which was okay but it was bland and didn’t have peanuts or sesame that I’m used to having in my momo chutney. Also, knit picky thing but they weren’t the traditional shape. :(In terms of the flavor, they weren’t that flavorful but weren’t bland either. The filling was cabbage, carrots, peas and tofu (it might have been paneer).
My dining companion ordered the dal bhat (rice/​lentils/​chutney/​naan/​vegetables) and that too was just okay. The naan was very buttery but lacked salt. The chutney was the same tomato chutney I received with my momos. His vegetables were just okay… not horrible but not good either.
When we sat down, they provided us with free papadum (crispy lentil wafers). It was served with the same chutney that we had with our meals. I would liked to see some diversity in terms of the chutney they serve.
All in all, I can’t recommend this place. But since they haven’t been open for very long, I hope over time they will improve.

My dad and I came here for my birthday. I have only had Tibetan and Nepali food a handful of times, and I was excited to try this new restaurant.
We ordered the Momo Platter with both pork and beef dumplings as an appetizer. It came out with a mild sauce that had a tomato base. The pork dumplings were very good, but I thought the beef dumplings were excellent! The beef inside was tender and flavorful. I would strongly recommend ordering this!
My dad ordered the Thukpa noodles with lamb, and I ordered the Sherpa Stew with lamb. I had a small taste of the Thupka and the broth was very flavorful. My dad said he liked it.
The Sherpa stew was very warming and filled with fresh vegetables — cauliflower, carrots, red and green peppers, potatoes and peas. There was also plenty of lamb. It was a mild dish and reminded me a little of shepherd’s pie filling. Part of the way through dinner the owner brought us some hot sauce from Nepal which definitely added some good kick.
The chai was also really good — it reminded me of chai I’ve had at Indian and Somali restaurants but lighter and less sweet.
The food took a little while to come out even though there were only a few tables seated, and so did the check. But the owner and staff were so nice, in a soft spoken kind of way, that it made up for it. I will definitely be back and will recommend it to my friends!

Newly opened, family-​owned Nepalese restaurant in the former Eva space in Tangletown. Restaurant is owned by Ang, a native Tibetan who leads Everest treks twice a year.
Fare is authentic homestyle Nepalese. For those used to Indian fare, Nepalese cuisine shares some similar dishes (curry, saag paneer, tandoori, tikka masala etc.) but generally lighter flavors, less heavily spiced and with less oil.
After being warmly greeted with homemade chai (yum!), we enjoyed tasty mono (Nepali dumplings), which were expertly wrapped. Beef was more flavorful than the pork; chicken and veggie also available.
Decided to split the house sampler and the Himalayan stew with two friends. House sampler includes beef curry, chicken curry, veggie curry, saag and coconut rice pudding. I really liked the simple, light preparation — no gut bombs here. Both the saag and rice pudding were notably lighter than one might expect, not overly buttered or excessively sugary. Flavors stand on their own, not overly spiced. The sampler also has a vegetarian option.
Himalayan stew was fragrant, savory with lamb, vegetables and spices. Love non cream-​based soups, and this hit the spot — flavorful stock perfect for winter. Large enough to split among 3 comfortably.
Chapathi was tasty and airy, a nice pairing option. They didn’t have tandoori and naan yet but will be back to try them out.
Portions are generous. Menu is reasonably priced. Apps are $ 6 – 12, naan/​chapati $ 2 – 4, entrees mostly $ 10 – 15. Staff is friendly and genuinely want you to enjoy your experience.
