Description

Specialties

The World Famous Green Tortoise Adventure Travel began over 40 years ago, with one sturdy bus and the realization that beautiful places, great food, and sociable people were the only essentials for gratifying travel experiences. The Green Tortoise hostels in San Francisco and Seattle are built on this fine tradition. The Green Tortoise San Francisco and Seattle hostels are created around a social communal experience. We have expanded and refined the hostel experience with free internet, free meals, private bathrooms, and comforts that make the Green Tortoise unique.

History

Established in 1993.

Some friends will remember fondly the old Green Tortoise Hostel on 2nd Ave. in Seattle — but the landlord of that building had some renovation ideas of his own. So, time marches on, and the Green Tortoise evolves to meet and encourage a whole new world of travelers … while the old landlord was busy knocking down the old green tortoise, we were busy building the best hostel in the world, a super hostel right around the corner … where every bed is a micro habitat … that comes with a curtain for a little visual privacy, and a «reading light and a fan» for your comfort and so you can read without disturbing your neighbors … and two extra power points to charge your laptop or cell phone … this meant a complete upgrade to the building’s electrical system.
