Specialties

Giddens School is an independent preschool through fifth-grade that nourishes a diverse community and provides children with an academically rigorous education steeped in social justice. At Giddens, we nurture the individual growth and talents of each student. Our curriculum and teaching approaches are informed by each child’s developmental stage and attend to all grade level standards and expectations. Small class sizes create an intimate educational setting with the individualized attention necessary to attend to every child. Our school environment nourishes self-confidence and helps children develop the self-expression to support others, take risks and speak up for what they believe.

History

Established in 1972.

Giddens School was founded in 1972 by Huda Giddens in the University District of Seattle. Seeking a more diverse setting, the school moved to the historic Central District in 1980. Giddens School’s educational philosophy couples a commitment to academic excellence with a sincere respect for children as talented, growing people who have the capacity to affect positive change in the world around them. Giddens encourages families and students to see academic excellence and social responsibility as equally important partners in a truly progressive educational experience. By building a strong academic foundation infused with the energy and exploration that mark high-quality classrooms, we provide all of our children a first-rate Preschool and Elementary education.
