Just moved to the city recently, was informed of Freeman by a friend when discussing the need for a good rain coat. Storefront is simple and beautiful. All products are made in the U.S. with Freeman gear coming straight outta Seattle, they even finish up last button and stitching details in shop on Cap hill!
Picked up their flagship rain coat yesterday after doing some research and visiting storefront to try on a couple different sizes. Ironically enough it began to rain for first time in a week as I was approaching the store, which enabled me to wear the coat out and get real idea of how functional it is. Very pleased! Fits great, high quality materials, simple design and made in the city… what more can you ask for?
The handful of times I have visited Freeman have been very pleasant with the staff (owners of the shop) being very friendly, helpful and informative of products and upcoming sales and promotions. Although I have only lived in Seattle for a couple of months, Freeman is most definitely my favorite retail clothing shop. Relatively expensive but you get what you pay for… High quality goods that will last a long time, and that are made in the U.S. Can’t go wrong shopping local to support our economy and the jobs that companies like Freeman creates.

I went back to this store for Small Business Saturday and had a great time. Their selection of Made in USA brands is second to none in the Seattle area. I could browse and try on clothes for hours and they are very dog friendly so bring your pooch!

Having walked past — being mildly intrigued — a few times, I finally walked in, fully expecting to see mostly Chinese-​made merchandise way overpriced.
Surprise! Everything I looked at was both Made in USA and VERY well-​made.
I would only define it as pricey if you’re comparing it to cheap, poorly-​made clothing and accessories you find at — well, sadly, almost everywhere else. The shirts are less than most of what I see at Nordstrom, but they are HAND MADE in the USA.
I bought an incredibly soft hemp/​cotton tee shirt that looks as though it was made to outlast me, yet feels like it’s been washed a thousand times (for a mere $ 35), and vowed to return before their button shirts are gone!

Fun gifts for the husband — Made in America, and always a hit. They have cabin spray that smells like Big Sur, and the dressing room is a tiny special secret (not-​so-​secret?) cabin. Seattle needed a store like this!

The most beautiful clothing store on Capitol Hill!

High quality clothes and super knowledgeable employees. Bought my favorite jeans here and will definitely be back.

This store is absolutely fantastic. They stock an amazing selection of US made products, including their namesake jacket and some of the softest t-​shirts you will ever touch! Beyond that, they offer incredibly fun, kind, and helpful customer service in a pretty sweet location.
Added bonus: they often have events in the store, bringing together local artists, artisans, and community members. What an absolute gem!

My favorite clothing store in Seattle, perhaps anywhere. I’m biased because I love flannel, nice jeans, comfy tshirts, boots, and rain jackets, but this is Seattle after all. They know what I like.
This is a place where you get what you pay for and everything is made to last. It ain’t cheap, but it’s worth it to me because I get to support a local business and the Seattle economy. I lived in the neighborhood Freeman is in during the last recession and there’s no way a store like this could have made it back then, so I am thankful that things are booming again and we can have unique and classy places like this thrive in Seattle, in particularly on Capitol Hill. I dig that they only stock items made in the USA because I think it’s great when we can buy things from our own backyard instead of shipping goods across the planet.
Some favorite items purchased here: Any and all of the Loveless series flannel and workshirts, Jungmaven tee shirts and tanktops (so soft!), and Shwood Sunglasses from Portland.

I have purchased the men’s rain-​jacket and four of the men’s button-​downs. In short, I could not be happier. I love the care, precision, fit, style, material and most of all that it is made in Seattle! Stop by the store and talk to the owners, Scott and Brittany, about their vision and history… good people.

Freeman is a destination. Capitol Hill is lucky to have this beautiful store in its neighborhood, adding some classy wares to the block.
Situated in the historic and beautiful Loveless Building, Freeman is where I go for great customer service (when I purchased their rain jacket I got a free coupon for a washing at a local business), quality clothing, and gift-​able accessories. My rain jacket had a small tear inside the arm (note to buyer — don’t hold your keys and try and put your coat on at the same time), and Brittany fixed it right up in record time.
Not only do they carry their own Freeman brand, they also sell one of my hard-​to-​find-​favorites, Juniper Ridge. These folks distill scents from the outside for customers to bring inside. I love their room spray (pine tree in the house anyone?) and soap that reminds me of being in the San Juan Islands. Who knew you could get transported from a hand wash?
If you haven’t been to Freeman yet, I highly recommend stopping in to meet Brittany, Scott and Alex. Be sure to ask about their dedication to all things made in the USA — their passion for their business is palpable!

If you’re looking for an authentic Seattle experience, stop in here. The owners are Washington grown and so are many of their goods, which are all made in the USA. They are also very friendly and approachable and every item has a story. You walk out feeling like you purchased something really special, because — if you want — they’ll tell you where it’s made, how it’s meant to fit, and the history of the company.
It’s primarily a menswear store, so I usually shop here for gifts for my husband and brother, but they also sell women’s rain jackets, and I often end up buying some of the other goods in smaller sizes for myself, including: sunglasses, knit hats, sweatshirts, and t-​shirts.
There are items of all price points, but here you shop for quality, American-​made goods that will last a lifetime. Their items are worth the slight premium.
They also throw super fun in-​store events so it’s worth signing up for the mailing list.
Also, the dressing room can’t be beat. Built by the owner himself.

A clean, attractive, but tiny shop. Nice energy.
