El Malecon is a food truck that sells Mexican shaved ice and fruit arrangements. Growing up, Shari’s Berries was at every food festival and I was always impressed with the fruit arrangements in carved fruit «bowls.» El Malecon expands beyond Shari’s by offering a Mexican twist.
My cousin introduced me to diablitos de mango. This is shaved ice, mango slices, mango pulp, and tamarind candy straws with Lucas candy-​like seasoning on top. It brought back memories of eating Lucas candy with my Mexican American friends in grade school.
In addition, there are fruit slices with seasoning in cups and carved pineapple «bowls.» I’ll be back to try their other offerings soon! One can order ahead by calling the business and picking up your order at the truck.
