History

Established in 1977.

When Jack Emick and Mindy Howard founded their new space planning and interior design firm in 1977, Jack laughs saying that «Our peer group didn’t think we would last twenty-​four hours.» As newcomers to the city with no family or political connections and no portfolio of local projects, they succeeded in developing an impressive client list and reputation. In 1992, they joined with the top financial facilities design firm, Paul Seibert & Associates, to create what The Seattle Times described as «a marriage designed in merger heaven.»

In the ‘90s, the firm evolved into a full-​service architecture, planning, and interior design firm doing work for clients primarily in North America. Throughout the history of the company, our philosophy remains that our clients’ business is the first and top priority in developing sound design solutions.
