A couple of months ago, my cat spilled a full glass of water onto my laptop keyboard. I naturally panicked, turned it off, turned it over, dried it off, everything «they» say you’re supposed to do. I left it upside down, off for days and tried to turn it back on. It turned on, but the fan sounded super loud and the trackpad wouldn’t work. I turned it off just by pressing the power button — it didn’t need me to hold it down, it was so done with me.
I had to travel for work, so a couple of weeks later I brought it to eBits for a $ 50 diag. They got back to me after a couple of days saying they needed to replace the keyboard/​trackpad and would clean the water/​corrosion off of the interior, including the logicboard, for $ 250 total ($ 200 at the end because they subtract the diag fee), which I agreed to. All of this was done over the phone — I recommend that the consumer request that they email the details that they just agreed to, and I also recommend that the company start emailing their customers details of the agreement.
This is where things got dicey. I was told they’d have to order the keyboard so it might be a couple of weeks but he’d call me when it arrived and then he’d call later when my laptop was ready to be picked up. A couple of weeks pass and I don’t hear about the keyboard’s arrival, till one Sunday I get a call that my laptop is ready to be picked up. I walk to the store and see that I’ve been charged $ 500. Naturally, I’m not willing to pay double what I was quoted. I don’t get to leave with my laptop, and I’m of course confused and irritated — I’m a grad student with limited money but great laptop need.
A few days go by playing phone tag with the technician I originally talked to, with managers trying to tell me through the technician that I must’ve been confused (this did miff me a bit) or that they could take off the new keyboard but then my computer would be functionless. At one point they told me that they hadn’t put the new keyboard on but they did have it in stock so they could just not put it on for me until I approved the $ 500 charge — but, mind you, I had seen the new keyboard installed on my laptop that Sunday and I had had to wait for them to order it, so it was never «in stock» until I visited the store.
Finally I talked to the acting assistant manager who explained that they had needed to replace a part of the logicboard — something I was never told and was never asked for approval on, even though they had record of my «approval» during the couple of weeks I was waiting to hear about my keyboard — in addition to replacing the keyboard. He took off all labor-​related fees so I ended up only paying for the hardware, which I do appreciate. The whole time I was trying to be very understanding — I mean, I understand that there are costs related to this technician’s mistake that need to be covered by someone, but I was just not willing to take on all of those costs as the customer who was «guaranteed» to pay the quoted price.
I ended up still paying almost double my original quote, so their 5-​point price guarantee is definitely not a guarantee and I recommend to both sides of these transactions to get everything in writing. Especially since I was never asked for approval of the logicboard replacement. However, I still give these guys 4 stars. The technician was great and very apologetic during the whole process, despite miffing me off a bit by trying to appease me with fibs. The acting assistant manager was absolutely awesome to talk to, actually explained things, and worked with me on the pricing finally. They ended up fixing my computer, like hello that’s great. I ended up getting a fixed logicboard and keyboard for, quite honestly, a price that Apple or anyone else would’ve gouged. The owner was even nice enough to throw in one of those phone battery packs for free, which I truly appreciate especially since it’s a $ 30 value.
All-​in-​all, I would absolutely take my gadgets to these guys again — but, I would demand to have everything in writing!

Jasper and the team at eBits are stellar! They know their stuff, they’re fair, they’re priced well, and they’re generally nice folks. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone that asks.
I’ve used them multiple times, for broken iPhone screens, PC to Mac file transfers, and general advice. They’ve always done things right, the first time, and charged me a fair price.
Go see them; you won’t regret it!

A couple years ago (almost three to be exact) I broke my Macbook Pro screen with a toss to my bed which resulted in a bounce to the hardwood floor and CRACK, broken screen :(I brought it to eBits after calling around to other shops, comparing shops and determining eBits to be the cheapest and most helpful/​sympathizing over the phone.
Jasper, the owner, was great and everything was fixed within a week! Everyone was so nice and helpful I vowed to sit down and write a review then. Well, life got busy and fast forward to two days ago. I brought my computer back because the glue from the Apple screen came undone and the screen basically fell off. I left my computer at noon and by that evening the technician called letting me know it was fixed, cleaned and ready to be picked up. YES!
When I arrived, Jasper warmly greeted me by name and retrieved my fixed computer. The bonus: he waved the cost of labor and parts to fix the screen! You can tell he really appreciates helping people and not charging for every little thing possible. It feels good, especially now days, to see a business owner that puts customers before profit.
I’m definitely a customer for life :)

They were so helpful, quick and very reasonably priced. Greatest customer service I could have asked for in the frustrating situation I was in. They fixed the screen of my phone and had it ready earlier than I expected the next day. Super sweet dudes!

After taking my son’s phone to AT&T to figure out why it wasn’t working, we were directed upstairs to eBits to see if they could solve the problem. Not only did they fix my son’s phone, they pushed us to the front of the line for service to prevent us from having to go all the way home and come back. My son’s phone was fixed within the hour, he was given a free screen protector and a 10% discount. This place is a rare find. The owner was incredibly friendly, helpful and generous with his time and services. We were so impressed and grateful to have found eBits. I will definitely be telling anyone with phone or computer issues to head their way!

I went back again recently and I got the same fantastic service, this time from the owner. When ever I have issues with my Mac, I won’t hesitate to go back and recommend these guys! Thank you :)

We took our laptop in recently to have it cleared up (it seemed to have a virus). They told us that it would take a few days to finish. Keeping in contact with them it ended up being two weeks later and the price went from 200 $ to f*cking 400 $. They had to switch out our harddrive and save some old data off of the harddrive. 400 $ for a new harddrive and some data recovery is absurd.

They fixed my iPhone 6 for $ 164 and some change. They even threw in a free case. I was quoted the price upfront. I was told it would be ready the next day and it was. My phone had «extensive» damage to the screen. It had multiple cracks and little black clouds growing from the cracks. Then, the whole screen went black and it stopped working altogether. I was sure it was broken beyond repair but figured I had nothing to lose by getting it looked at. When they gave it back to me the next day it looked and worked like new.
I took a star off because the forgot to call me when it was done. But they gave me a free case so what the heck, I’ll add a star for that.

I have dropped and broken my phone twice in the last couple of months and these folks are incredible and very helpful. Each time they have fixed my phone, it has only taken one hour and its reasonably priced. I’m not tech savvy and can’t change my screen myself, but for $ 99 for my iPhone 5, they’ve done a great job and it’s under a 90 day warranty which is very convenient for my clumsy self. I highly recommend this location and the great people who work here.

I cracked my iPhone screen over the summer, and was finally getting around to finding a place to fix it. Everywhere I went was quoting me $ 200 or more, which I could not afford. Not only did eBits quote me the lowest price, they fixed it in 30 minutes flat. They were so nice and helpful, even helping me select a case and screen protector (and putting it on for me) so I don’t crack my screen again!
I am bringing them my laptop for service at the beginning of the year, they have definitely earned my business!

Very disappointed with my experience at Ebits with my MacBook. They didn’t clarify what they were doing to fix a virus, and ultimately wiped my computer of all of the data and said they would have to charge me additionally to «try» to recover it. Now my computer is worse than before I brought it in: as I’m trying to reset my original settings/​find old pictures and documents from emails, none of the data will save on my computer after I restart it. Livid at how they handled the situation, you’re better off just going to apple.

*Disclaimer*: This review is based on what I observed when I went in for service, rather than a direct experience. I still felt it was important to document this encounter, so keep reading.
I went into this place of business a short while ago, needing a second opinion on a laptop with which I’m having issues. There were two customers waiting in front of me, and what I saw made me run for the hills.
The first customer had brought some iDevice in for what sounded like a basic repair. After listening to the conversation going between them and the customer, it became apparent that the company *lost* this guy’s device! He kept asking why it wasn’t at the place where he brought it, and why there was no documentation that it was brought to a different store. The person he was speaking to (appeared to be /​sounded like the owner, a middle-​aged Asian man) had one excuse after another and was essentially blaming everything on his employees, who had looks on their faces like this was a regular occurrence. Yikes! The customer left hugely upset, and with an indication that he’d be calling the BBB… double yikes!
The next customer wanted to know why he kept being told his part was only two days away from arriving when it was supposedly ordered almost two business weeks ago. Again, a stream of excuses poured from the person I assumed was the owner. It was one pithy excuse after another, «we’re very busy,» «somebody already called you,» «there’s no tracking info on international shipments» (uh, what??), that kind of thing. The customer was infuriated that he had paid a diagnostic fee several days before and now didn’t have a working machine he could use or any idea on when eBits would be finished fixing his machine. Yikes times 3!!!
So, I bailed. In a serious hurry. It was unbelievable watching a business owner provide nothing but excuses to his customers, and even worse was watching him push blame onto everything except his obviously flawed business practices. I don’t know where else I might go for this second opinion on my laptop but it won’t be eBits, that’s for sure!

eBits is a great neighborhood electronics repair store. They are efficient and always helpful. They have aided me with multiple cracked screens and a data recovery. Sometimes the repair time takes longer than initially quoted but the always get the job done.

Literally tossed my iPhone 5S into the sky and watched its screen instantly crack into a web of shattered glass. Took it to eBits a few days later and had it born anew in 60 minutes, with a new shield of (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) tempered glass. The staff was extremely polite and helpful, and the owner kindly gifted me a new translucent rubber case. $ 125 for a shiny new screen and super scratch-​resistant screen protector. Could not be happier. Thank you eBits!

Went to the Apple Store the other day and waited 2 hours for the tech guy to look at my phone for 10 seconds just to tell me I had to buy a new phone since my iPhone 5 screen was cracked too badly to fix. Tried eBits today and they were able to replace the screen just fine and saved me $ 200+. Super happy! ;D

I am a regional manager for an electronics company that supplies products to companies like ebits. In fact I was staring at one of my products while this company performed the old switcheroo on me.
Frankly, I’m still a little shocked this occurred in a post Unilocal world. So, dutifully, I will recount for the unwary.
I was under a tight timeline ahead of travel to the East Coast so decided to use a local shop instead of my internal tech department or a reseller which can pose a conflict.
After paying for expedited service they were unable to recover windows which had crashed due to my own misuse, which was fine.
In person and on the phone it was explained that the diagnostic fee can be used for services such as data transfer or repair.
I was guaranteed that I would clear the data transfer scenario with an additional $ 50 charge, not the $ 99 dollars that showed up at billing.
When I began to mention this the clerk he mentioned that they are not so great at explaining data transfer isn’t included in diagnosis bill back. –A direct contradiction to what was explained to me twice, down to the figure.
As someone who works with technology businesses and sales people for a living, I know the difference between being confused, being unsure, and deliberately misleading a client.
Unfortunately my interaction with Ebits falls into the latter.
Avoid at all costs!

I had a very disappointing experience with ebits.
This was my second time I went to get my phone fixed.
They did a great job first time on Nexus 4.
First day -
But this time I went to get charging port of Iphone 5S fixed.
They fixed the charging port and as soon as I got out of their Cap Hill location I realized that the fingerprint scanner on home button wasn’t working. I went back and the guy was defending himself saying charging port has nothing to with scanner. I told him it was working fine before I gave them for repairs and now its not working. He asked me to come the next day.
Second day —
I went back the next to same location and there was a different person. I told him the whole story and he tells me that fingerprint scanner often stops working when repairs are made which is completely different statement than what I was told by the original person. Then he told me that I should go to their Udistrict location as the IPhone expert works on that location.
Third day —
So I went to their Udistrict location and the so called expert is the same guy who worked on it originally in their Cap hill location. He does the same rant again saying charging port has nothing to do with scanner. Then he said he’ll call his manager. Apparently manager said they can check it but if there are any additional parts needed I have to pay for it. I told him to at least check it and tell me what is the issue. I came back after an hour and this guy has no clue. I left extremely frustrated.
Fourth day —
I usually keep my phone on Silent mode. Today I turned off the silent mode and realize that no sound is coming from speakers and audio jack is also screwed up.
Moral of the story — they fixed my charging port and screwed up finger print scanner, speakers and audio jack and didn’t even show the courtesy of owning their mistake and compensating me (or at least returning me what they charged me). Now I am left a dead brick phone and I think going back is useless. Super frustrated with their behavior and service.

I was terrified when I discovered that my computer’s hard drive needed to be replaced. I hadn’t backed up my information anywhere, and I had already gone to a different third-​party service to try to do a data backup (which failed).
The previous service directed me to Drivesavers as my next option, but I was horrified to find out that they charge a MINIMUM of $ 700 for data recovery (the service can cost as high as $ 3000 in some cases).
I was resigned to lose all of my precious data. Then a friend told me about Ebits. After paying $ 50 for a diagnostic, they told me that data recovery would cost just $ 200. They also discount the price of installing a new hard drive if you go through their service. All told, I payed $ 300 to get my computer back up and running.
Throughout the process, one employee stood out for his wonderful costumer service. Dylan really went above and beyond to cater to my unique needs. He was attentive to my issues, answered every one of my incessant questions and phone calls with a patient and cheerful disposition, and was determined to help me recover as much data as possible. When they recovered my data certain parts were missing. Dylan kindly agreed to try a second and then a third attempt at data recovery free of charge. When I received my computer with the new hard drive, he patiently helped me to reload it with all of my data.
I’m a super annoying customer. I probably spent 3 hours in the store trying to get help on every minute detail of restoring my computer. I called the store about 15 times over the course of this project, and Dylan (and his awesome beard) handled everything with class and an awesome attitude. Ebits found a fantastic employee in him.
The only reason I rated Ebits four stars (rather than five) is because, while I did get MOST of my data back, I lost some of my valuable pictures due to corrupted data.
Overall, a very cost-​effective service and great customer service. If you’ve got computer issues, it’s worth giving Ebits a try.
