Dr. Robinson is gentle, intelligent, and discreet. He is also super empathic, without being cloying. His long experience in this field really shows in his demeanor, which is anything but controlling. He kind of lets you discover who you are without forcing the issue, but is really good at helping you zero in on what you might be missing. He also is really savvy about drugs and even seems to understand what might not be suitable for you based on his own research. Therapists are expensive, and it’s worth while searching for and finding experienced, humane therapists. I’ve seen many therapists in my life, and Dr. Robinson is hands down the best I’ve worked with.

First off, I am very SKEPTICAL about counseling. I’ve been to a lot of psychologists, never a psychiatrist because I’ve resisted medications for my OCD for a long time. My experience has been me talking, them talking back, and basically, I always took over the conversation where I wanted to go. Not with this guy. He sorts through all the extraneous, and redirects me to the source of my problems despite my resistance to accepting what that source is. He is the only one who made me understand something about myself that I didn’t already know, things I was in pretty convincing denial about. He’s very perceptive to even my demeanor discussing different subjects, which I imagine would help with teenagers in particular. He’s also the only therapist I ever saw actually use his notes. He has been very open to trying different medications and reconsidering my diagnosis from many angles. Dog friendly office. His assistant has a deadpan voice sometimes, but don’t be thrown off, she is super nice.
