History

Established in 2004.

Prior to founding Dive Canuck SCUBA, Dave was a Divemaster/Instructor in the Florida Keys at Amoray Dive Resort. He returned to Seattle and taught for one season at Underwater Sports in Kirkland. Moved to California in late 2004 and dove for fun, primarily in Monterey and Catalina. Moved back to Seattle in mid-2006 and resumed teaching at UWS Kirkland. Moved to Underwater Sports’ main store in Seattle in late 2008 and continues to teach out of this dive shop.

Dave has issued certifications in 4 different countries: Mexico, Canada, USA and Thailand. He also conducted a Discover Scuba Experience in Roatan, Honduras.

Business Owner

It’s surprising in retrospect that Dave didn’t get into scuba sooner. He’s always been fascinated by aquariums and would visit any chance he got in a new city.

Dave didn’t start diving until 2001 but by the 2nd day he was hooked. He recalls seeing a pod of five orcas in Elliott Bay (Seattle) while he was in the water and it transformed him.

Seeking the very best instruction for himself, Dave enrolled in Fort Lauderdale’s ProDive program, training from Divemaster to Instructor in five very exhausting weeks in late 2003.

In 2008, when it came time to update his skills to the level of Staff Instructor, he again sought out the best-of-the-best: in this case, well-known Course Director Andy Phillips at Utila Dive Center in Honduras.
