History
Established in 1952.
Howard Close began this business in the University District around 1952. He learned his trade in the U.S. Army, at Bausch and Lomb in Rochester NY, K&E in San Francisco and Greiner Schmitz in Kansas City. He moved to the Denny Regrade in the mid fifties and has been in this area ever since. He has been in his current location at 2316 Fourth Ave. since 1962. Surveying instruments that he sold and repaired were used in building the Seattle Center and many of the first skyscrapers in town.
