Chambered Nautilus Bed and Breakfast Inn

Thank you, Joyce and staff, for being so welcoming and for spoiling me while I was in Seattle. I wish you all the best in your adventures. Hope you get to stay in some B&Bs as nice as your own. I highly recommend the Rose Chamber. It was peaceful, quiet, and had everything I needed. Breakfast was a treat every day, as was meeting the other guests. Fantastic experience.

Checkin was confusing, and there was no check out process!

It took about 6 flights of horrible steep outdoor stairs to get to our room

Very cute and cozy B&B! Staff was friendly, there was free WiFi, and even teddy bears waiting for us on our beds. I love the décor; very cozy! The only downfall for me was carrying my luggage up the stairs after a long day — but a staff member offered to carry it for me! Parking was difficult, but not impossible. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and hope to return next time I’m in town.

Our family of 4 stayed in the Ravenna Suite for a week. July 14 – 21. We loved the comfortable beds — even the pullout couch was comfortable according to my 19 year old son. The location was surprisingly quiet, even though it is located in an urban area close to the U of W. Our suite was cleaned daily and included a full size refrigerator and kitchenette. The bathroom was a little bit small, but not bad — our shower/​tub was fine. The really good smelling soaps were a special touch that I appreciated. The grounds are beautiful with mossy walkways, flowering shrubs and water features. Street parking was a little intimidating, but again, this is an urban location — we always found parking, and never had trouble. Our breakfast was awesome every morning with fresh juice, coffee, fresh fruit, granola (YUM) and either a egg quiche or berry pancakes. The breakfast staff even made a special request for my son who celebrated his birthday while we were there. Overall, we really loved staying here and would stay here again for our next visit to Seattle.

We stayed in two different rooms during our stay here, which was my choice, because I wanted to try the different rooms. It is such a beautiful older home, and our rooms were so inviting, so comfortable. I loved the crows nest, it had a lovely new bathroom, a nice fireplace, pretty windows. It was great. The breakfasts that we enjoyed at the B&B were so very delicious, and I really liked the women serving us. So welcoming! A couple times we had to leave very early and they left us food baskets in our room, to take with us on our drives. I felt very safe there with my daughter, and we were conveniently located to the universities and to Seattle downtown. It was perfect. The only drawback, is that, being in a college neighborhood, it can get a bit loud at night with partying students, but no harm done. You will have to back in to your parking spot, which can be a little tight sometimes, but we always found a spot. Had a great time at the B & B. Try it!

It gets no better than this if you are staying in Seattle. I used to stay here years ago when I traveled to the area about once a month I loved it then and I love it more now.
It was like coming home, the amazing breakfast, staying in my favorite room with the fireplace. It was everything I remember and more! and now they have free wifi.

My girlfriend and I were visiting the UW campus and chose the Chambered Nautilus because it had what appeared to be the best combination of price, location, and amenities. Upon entering, we were struck by the warm and charming atmosphere in the lobby that is absent from chain hotels. We stayed in the Garden Chamber, which was very comfortable, spacious, and relaxing. The King Bed was so comfortable and cozy. The bathroom was very clean and came with an array of home-​made scented soaps. There is just a really pleasing ambiance about the place, I really can’t say enough about how enjoyable it is.
In addition to our fantastic room, the breakfast was wonderfully delicious and the staff was very friendly. It really gave our stay a big boost. We couldn’t be happier with the Chambered Nautilus and we’ll definitely be back in the future.

We enjoyed our stay at this B&B near the University of Washington. The location is excellent and its a beautiful old home with character. My wife picks these places and I always like what she finds. We are on a mission to stay at different B&B’s in Seattle. Capitol Hill area has a few still on our list.
The breakfast was wonderful and the host took care of us. The bed was not especially comfortable but we can look past that as we would much rather stay here than a hotel.

We spent 30 days in the U District in Seattle at the Chambered Nautilus and look forward to coming back. Had it been just my husband and I traveling for a few days, we would have chosen a room in the main house but we needed a pet friendly option with kitchen.
We chose the University Suite and could not be happier. The room is very comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen offers all I need to make simple meals and the local farmers market is just a short walk away! (a real plus). The sleeper sofa is new and actually comfortable! Our daughter stopped by for two nights and tried it out!
My husband and I both work onliine so desk space and good wireless access was a must. Our suite has a nice sized desk as well as a table for 4 so we both can set up our workspace. The internet access has been great also.
They provided a cute pet basket with treats, bags and towels for our dog. There is a great park close so it is easy to walk him twice a day… even in the city.
We deciced to take public transportation and leave our car parked in front but convenient parking has not been a problem. The buses are a short walk and the staff is very helpful. We have taken the bus downtown and to Captol Hill… easy.
I would suggest the University Suite for a short or long stay. We loved the space and the convenience. The staff was great… kept our room spotless and helped us find restaurants, shopping… everything we needed.
We will definitely return.

My hubby and I chose a room online, and the photos of the University Suite did not accurately represent the real thing. Instead of a suite, it’s a 1 bedroom apartment with bad carpet and dorm style furniture. It did not feel like a vacation in a Victorian house, which the outside looks like and the main breakfast dining room feels like. We did not come on vacation to Seattle for our anniversary to feel like «home» in an apartment… We would have reserved a hotel but they were ALL booked up citywide. So, we initially felt lucky to nab 2 nights @ the Nautilus, when all other b&b’s were also booked. The breakfast was fresh, organic and adequately tasty. Though the coffee was weak both days. The DVD selection was a nice touch. We watched «500 Days of Summer», which my hubby had not seen. Would not choose to stay here again for a romantic getaway, but it’s perfect for college, grad students or visiting parents.

Worked fine for us for one night. Steep climb — but interesting scenery and garden! Food was fine, room cozy, bathroom outside the room, street parking, reasonable price.

We had such a comfortable stay in this B&B. The proprietor and the people that she employed are so friendly and welcoming. One thing that I did not know is there is a steep stair coming up to this property on the hill! Don’t despair however as the will be someone who can help shlep your luggage up the steep stairs :).
Parking? You get street parking but we had never had an issue finding one and they provided us with parking permit for the duration of our stay.
The breakfast was superb each day! We stayed 1 week and did not have the same thing twice. Plus, they accommodate for food preferences and allergies! They sure accommodate to please!

I can’t even express the cool factor of this place. It really was a great B&B but the greatest part of our stay here was the evening walk around the neighborhood. I met some super nice people, talked about everything you could imagine, ate some delectable foods. and completely loved the whole atmosphere of it all.
We stayed in a great little 2 bedroom room that was more like a condo than a «room». Than hung out with some of the other guests and watched our daughter eat up the beautiful outdoor gardens. Topped that off with a great breakfast hosted by the nicest servers you could ever meet. I can’t wait to visit again. Thank you CN for an unforgettable weekend! See you again soon!

A very nice little B & B within walking distance to the UW campus, my only regret during my stay there is that I couldn’t fully enjoy the place due to my interview on campus. Great staff, cozy accommodations (cozy, but not small). I could see parking being an issue — I took a cab there so didn’t have to bother myself. And best of all, the price was pretty darn reasonable.
If you’re looking for a place to stay in the University District, I’d recommend this spot.

This was one of the first B&B’s my husband ever stayed in, and it converted us from hotel people to B&B people. (Sometimes. Price still matters.) We stayed at CN twice in 2008. Since then we’ve stayed in a bunch of other B&B’s and discovered that CN set the bar way too high. Almost all other B&B’s have paled in comparison.
They’ve thought of everything. Spotless, cozy rooms. Bathrobes. Fresh fruit, cookies, tea, and coffee at all times! Great breakfasts. An inviting fireplace, newspapers, magazines, and a computer. Free wifi and parking. Awesome location next to UW and fun shops and restaurants. All this starting at $ 100/​night. I can’t think of one negative thing to say.

Nestled amidst college housing on a winding, hillside road is the Chambered Nautilus. It’s by far the nicest looking building on the block and I would pick this residence any day over staying at a chain hotel.
I was in town for a couple of days visiting a friend at the UW Medical Center. The CN’s proprietress Dana was a pleasure to talk to on the phone and made a big effort to make my late arrival and stay comfortable. The 10% last minute discount helped sweeten the stay too.
I shared the spacious, yet cozy, room with a friend. The accommodations felt more special and romantic than our need to crash for the night. My friend and I laughed when other guests on vacation asked him if «your wife was still in bed?» when I slept in.
The breakfast is great, the free wi-​fi fast and the surroundings homey and relaxing. You’re also offered a neighborhood parking permit but you’ll end up competing with college kids for spots if you arrive late.

I put my parents up here. it was good. they made friends with the staff and several guests by the end of their first 24 hours there. By the third day they had plans to for breakfast and I no longer was needed. a little pricey but have you seen hotel costs lately, better for people who have no problem walking up and down steps, lots of steps. the room they had had a kitchen which would could be useful.
