This Blockbuster location is closing in August 2009, but we’ve been coming here for the past 4 yrs to redeem our Blockbuster Online coupons(the program keeps changing on us, grr). They were also conveniently located next to Dick’s. :D The employees, for a while, were quite steady and we got chatty with a handful. Even that guy that asked us every week how we liked the online program, as if we weren’t just there the previous week… he was aight. They were open fairly late, until 10p or 11p depending on weekdays/ends. But then the hours reduced to save on cost(could never remember when they close) and now they are in the process of closing down. I agree that their ‘new release’ wall @$ 4ea was at least 3yrs old, but you could always find at least one movie to rent each weekend. Otherwise, go for a classic, like Election or Clueless for 99c. It’s all good. I’ll be sad when this place finally closes down, meanwhile I take a little piece of it home with me every weekend. previously-viewed movies are 4 for $ 20! Hopefully I’ll see some familiar faces when we switch to the Lake City location.

Where are all the movies??! Don’t get me wrong, this place is convenient and I’m a happy member of their movie club deal, but where all of the movies? The selection is worse than most mom & pop video stores. At least the owners of mom & pop stores tend to be film buffs, so they’ll have the classics. They might be limited in other ways, but they’ll have good movies to rent. This Blockbuster has straight to dvd(do not pass go) «classics» such as Transmorphers, Snakes On A Train, and Universal Soldier II. They do not have pretty much every movie I’ve been looking for lately: The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, Dead Alive, Very Bad Things. The list goes on. Definitely a fan of the movie club, but this Blockbuster needs some help in deciding what to carry.

I have been in this Blockbuster more in the last couple of months than I had been in the whole year and half I’ve lived half a mile away from it. The only reason I come into this Blockbuster is because it’s close and I have the Blockbuster Netflix thing. It’s pretty awesome. For the most part they have all the movies I’m looking to rent. I can’t recall a time I came in here looking for a movie that I wasn’t able to find. The staff seems a little more upbeat than at any other video store I’ve been in. There’s one girl who also works at Patty’s Eggnest who always talks to Erik about his breakfast(he goes often without me). She’s really sweet and has seen most of the movies I check out. Because I get all the new releases and popular movies in the mail, when I go to the store I look for movies that look interesting that I normally wouldn’t rent. This gal has seen them all it seems and she seems to have pretty good taste. Other than that, this is a typical Blockbuster Video — standard movie selection, sodas, candy and popcorn. Also, different sales on the previously viewed videos.
