BCBG Max Azria

I love BCBG and it’s definitely one of my favorite brands for dresses. I’ve hunted online for their stuff and found discounts and deals on the net, but I wanted to get the full in-​store experience. I went in looking for a brightly colored cute spring/​summer dress and made a beeline for the back area where they have a large sale rack and also some new arrivals. Good mix of gowns, and short/​tight dresses. But one thing in common: pricey. That’s a given, you gotta expect that in Pacific Place. It’s also really well-​lit which I appreciate so I can actually see the clothes (ahem, hollister).
The shop girls were nice and attentive and checked in on me in the dressing room, offer to zip me up, get me other sizes, etc. I was the only customer at the time, so I definitely got the attention and feedback of all the girls as I modeled some dresses for them! Ultimately the yellow lacey dress I loved was just not compatible with a bra, so I decided not to get it. I did buy a gorgeous skintight sweater-​like dress, with a cable knit print, and it was on sale 50% off. It was not a brightly colored spring/​summer dress at all, what I originally came in looking for, but it’s beautiful nonetheless and I will wear it out first chance I get.
FYI — returns will get you a STORE CREDIT and not a refund. Just know that when you buy here, your money has gone to BCBG permanently.

Beautiful dresses. Ugly customer service. The spared the return policy and but should have spared their snide and condescending attitude. If you are interested in buying a BCBG dress, I would suggest shopping on their online store which has much friendlier return policies.

I went in with my mom to look for a mother of the bride dress. She found one she fell in love with and we addressed our concern about altering because my mom is petite and the dress was very long. The sales person said it shouldn’t be a problem. Not once during the process was it mentioned that the return policy was STORE CREDIT ONLY WITHIN 10 DAYS. After my mom consulted her seamstress and recommended she didn’t alter it as it would lose the integrity of the dress and it’s silhouette. Not only were they rude to her when she explained her problem, and they were very condescending as if she didn’t speak English. They eventually gave her a refund but the store policy is outrageous in this consumer friendly economy we are in.

Love this shop. I have bought at least 3 dresses a year here for charity events the last 5 years and never had to return one. However, last weekend I bought two in Portland and returned one tonight in Seattle as I wanted my husband to pick out the dress when I got home. When I returned my $ 300! Dollar dress 6 days after buying it they told me I get a store credit, even through it was not on sale. Ok, ok, I maybe should have known this? But MIA’s comment after I was nothing but pleasant was this, «You should really know the store policy wherever you shop.» Wow, just wow! She needs a lesson in customer service.

I love BCBG and have never had a bad experience with them until I walked into this store. Have fun walking in, doing tons of shopping and charge sends in June and not receiving everything you ordered until September, multiple calls, mistakes, oops we forgot, someone hanging up on you. Nice bunch of girls. Worst shopping experience I’ve ever had anywhere, by far. The only good news is I spoke with the District manager and she was extremely nice, apologetic and helpful. They should come with a warning. You might have to contact the district manager to get good customer service lol.

First, I want to specify that my review is for the RETAIL STORE, not the clothes they sell. The clothes are unique, well constructed, generally beautiful. I love them. However, I will never buy them at this retail store again.
I was shopping for a cocktail dress and bought one that I liked but didn’t love. Then I went to Nordstrom to check their selection, and ended up buying a DIFFERENT BCBG dress at Nordstrom. When I went back to BCBG to attempt to return the first dress I found out that the store accepts returns for exchange or store credit only, THEY WON’T GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY BACK. When I read the receipt I did see that the receipt specified the return policy, but there was no signage at the check out counter and the sales associate didn’t tell me. I was stuck with store credit for a $ 300 dress I’d bought 1 hour earlier.
I’m going back to buying BCBG at Nordstrom or Macy’s, where they have most of the same clothes, with better service and a far more competitive return policy. Once I spend the store credit I’ll never return.

I am very angry with my experience at BCBG. I left my experience with them feeling as though I was robbed out of $ 550 and refuse to shop there again until this issue is resolved.
The highlights:
–Not informed of contradictory in-​store and online return policy at time of purchase
–Informed over the phone by a manager that I could get a refund if I brought the dress in, but she took it back when I got to the store that day (she denied that she okay’d the refund)
–The assistant manager gave «in-​store credit note» and said I could talk with the manager the next day about a refund; the manager the next day said it was impossible to get a refund once the «in-​store credit» was given. I felt lied to and taken advantage of.
— No one responded in a timely fashion to resolve the escalating issue.
— Told by the manager that they «hear complaints like mine all of the time» and «it usually turns out to be someone who never shops at their store» (I bought 2 dresses over $ 400 each in BCBG stores in the last 4 months… I just never needed to return the other and had no reason to question that the online return policy wasn’t the same in-​store)
The details:
I went in on the day of my bachelorette party to get a dress for the event. I had a short amount of time and I had been told by my girls to «dress up» but I didn’t know where we were going. I bought a $ 550 dress from BCBG, at which time I was not told that there were no returns on in-​store purchases (only online items and items ordered from neighboring store locations can be returned… who knew?). I have a policy against shopping at stores with zero return policies and never would have bought the dress had I known the online policy and in-​store policies were different.
At the last minute, I found out that the dress was overly formal for the bachelorette party and opted for a little black dress from Diane Von Furstenberg instead. When I looked at the receipt to return the dress 8 days later, I saw the no refund in-​store policy for the first time. I was very upset and called and calmly talked to Robert about the policy. Robert checked with his manager and said over the phone that they would need to see the dress and couldn’t promise without looking at the dress’ condition, but that Kathy had okay’d the refund if I brought the dress in and it was unworn, perfect condition, with tags (it was never taken out of the original package).
When I got to the store, Kathy acted like she knew who I was but had no knowledge of agreeing to refund the $ 550 to my card. I was upset. I had just called less than one hour prior and they had agreed to refund.
Kathy told me that I could talk to her manager, Mia, the next morning. I asked if I could leave the dress with her so that it was there in the store, returned, since I had to work on Monday and wouldn’t be able to come back to drop it off again. I wanted to make sure that I had it returned within the 10 day policy. She said sure and issued in-​store credit until I could talk to Mia.
When I talked to Mia today, she told me that Kathy had made the transaction permanent by issuing store credit and that now she couldn’t reverse the transaction. I am a business owner myself and I know that no transaction is irreversible in retail.
I told Mia how upset I was. This is $ 550, not $ 50, and other stores like Nordstrom and many other boutique dress stores (Donna Morgan for example, carried by Nordstrom and also operating their own dress e-​commerce site) have straightforward return policies for their customers. If their return policy is unconventional, the salesperson informs the customer when ringing up their purchase.
I also told Mia that I recently began frequenting BCBG and have the potential to be a high value customer if I can trust that I will be treated with respect and fairness doing business with them. She brushed me off and said that she «hears complaints like mine all of the time» and «it usually turns out to be someone who never shops at their store» (I bought 2 dresses over $ 400 each in BCBG stores in the last 4 months… I just never needed to return the other and had no reason to question that the online return policy wasn’t the same in-​store).
Bottom line: Yes, I didn’t understand the confusing online/​in-​store return policy (it’s not expressly stated on their website under «return policy»…where I — along with much of America — goes for my information). At the same time, I am very angry and upset and I feel swindled out of $ 550. As a business owner, I know there’s nothing valuable that comes from creating a poor customer experience and failing to rectify it in an appropriate way. I would love to upgrade my review if BCBG reaches out and resolves this customer issue.

They have a BAD return policy. I bought my daughter a coat in November for Christmas. She did not want it. They would not accept the return (despite having the receipts) during the first week of January. They required that we contact NYC

Beautiful selection of dresses. Cute, sexy, sophisticated, unique it’s all here, BUT be prepared to pay a lot of money. I love the styles, but the prices are all for a brand tag… and who can see the tag??? I would dare anyone to walk into a party in a BCBG dress and have someone actually recognize it… you will get plenty of compliments though. My point is, I have purchased similar dresses of solid quality and design at Nordstrom for half or even less of the cost.
Yes, I have snagged a few fantastic quality pieces from the 50% off rack before, but I would never pay full retail at BCBG even if money was no object, the cloths are just not that spectacular.
Service was totally fine and attentive. I definitely recommend browsing the sale rack.

It seems the past reviewers commented so long ago, some things have changed since then.
— They don’t have a ton of selections in my opinion. Enough to assemble a few cute outfits, and I loved that the staff was willing to give me their input, bring things that they thought would work for me, etc.
— The fitting rooms are at the back of the store, like most other shops.
— If you like unique belts, you might find something here at BCBG
I ended up with a $ 200 skirt I fell in love with. The rest that I tried on I couldn’t bring myself to pay for at the time.

This was my «Pretty Woman» experiment, unintentionally.
I went into their store one day to get a dress for my dad’s formal wedding in January. I went in after I got off work and I was wearing jeans, an old sweatshirt, tennis shoes, and a gnarly scarf with my hair in a pony tail. I didn’t think anything of it but not one of the customer service ladies offered to help or even give me a look. I started looking at dresses and I found the perfect one, but it wasn’t in my size. I asked if they had any more or another store and I got the «what in the hell is she doing in this ELITE store» look. Not two words were spoken all I got was a «no» and she was off to help someone else. RUDE.
So I left and came back later in the week because I was just in love with this dress! This time I was wearing my boots, skinny jeans, nice top, with a cute sweater with my hair down and a bit curly. WOW, what a difference. I was greeted right away, shown some things that I «might find interesting». But all I wanted was to go back and look at the dress.
Needless to say I didn’t buy the dress and I was once again appalled by their customer service when I decided to not buy the dress after trying it on. Rude, just plain awful customer service.
I gave it two stars because it’s a great layout and they have quite a selection but nothing beyond that. I had the money and more to spend on that POS dress. But instead I found a dress and a store not stuffy and I spent more on the dress somewhere else.

I typically like BCBG but when I wanted a certain size and was promised they would call other stores for me to have delivered they fell through on their promise.

Watch out. The girl with the bob there is really rude.

This BCBG store is sometimes okay, sometimes not. They continually have a pretty diverse selection of cocktail and formal dresses, although a lot of them look like high school prom rejects (and the majority of them are long, which do not fit with my very short legs). Size-​wise, I like that XXS is a regular size for them, which means I rarely have to get their dresses tailored.
The store can be a madhouse with out-​of-​towners on the weekends (since it is on the ground floor of Pacific Place), so I would suggest going during the week if you’re looking for an experience where you don’t want to gouge your eyes out. The fitting rooms are in the center of the store (which is a tad annoying) so on the weekends there can be a lot of «OMG YOU LOOK SO CUTE!!!» and «I JUST DON’T KNOW!!! HELP ME DECIDE!!! OMG!!!» happening. Beware.

Ode to you, my beloved Max Azria. How do I love your Spring 2008 collection, let me count the ways! I absolutely, love, love, love everything about BCBG, wait… maybe with the exception of their size selection.
Ladies, don’t you hate it when you find something that you’d pay full price for (more often than not, in my case because Mr. Azria and his designers are amazing!), you’re dead set on getting it, and then you find out they don’t have it in your size?
