History
Established in 2009.
atelier a+d (Michelle Linden) and drome design studio (Henry Walters) merged businesses in 2012 to form atelier drome. We founded atelier drome with the belief that good design truly can improve our lives and a goal to do exactly that. This philosophy manifests itself in a design ideology that celebrates simple yet significant solutions. Each design, whether remodel or new construction, residential or commercial, or even a simple piece of furniture is specifically conceptualized with the human scale and owner’s use of space in mind. As architects and designers, we believe in encouraging green sustainable building and design, understanding that our resources are precious. We get excited about creating intelligent solutions, rather than bigger solutions, and strongly believe that a thoughtfully designed project will have less impact on the earth, help foster positive relationships, and ultimately enhance the owners’ lives.
Meet the Business Owner
Michelle L.
Business Owner
I love architecture and always have. From a very early age, I always knew that I wanted to be in architect. In fact, I even attended an all-girls architecture camp in the seventh grade.
After receiving my degree in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago (with a brief study abroad in the Netherlands) I worked in Chicago, Honolulu, and finally settled in Seattle.
Starting my own firm has been a dream come true. I love to incorporate my love of design with my love of people, and the firm has been a perfect way to do so.
When I’m not dreaming about design, I love to build furniture, run, and travel.
I love working with clients and take pride in my honesty and client care. While I certainly have my own personal design aesthetic, I truly believe that what is most important is that you –the client– are happy with the end result. I love a collaborative design process and know the best projects are the ones in which I get to work together with the client.
