Oh Amazon, ordinarily you would be an easy 5-​star review, but after a long train of abuses and usurpations, well, you dun goof’d.
Amazon’s selection of items is great, yes, and often their prices are as well. But lately I have seen nothing but a string of screwups from Amazon. Their method of tracking inventory is apparently entirely inaccurate. As a Prime member, I generally use the standard second-​day shipping, but now and then I do upgrade to next-​day.
What I’ve found is that an item will be marked as Prime. It will also be marked as In Stock. I’m told that I can get it by tomorrow. Great! So I buy the item, upgrade to next-​day, and all is good… until I happen to check the email from Amazon confirming my order. Estimated arrival date: 7 days from now, which contradicts everything I was told when placing and finalizing the order.
Interesting. So your system is well aware that the item is not available for next-​day shipping, but you lured me into paying the upgraded shipping price anyway? Apparently you only advise customers of these things after the fact. And on top of that, while you were well aware that I would not be receiving it next day, you were more than happy to take the money anyway and not refund it?
Instead I have to call you up and explain the problem to your outsourced support representatives 153,000 times before they finally realize that 7 days is more than 1 day, give me a hollow, scripted apology for fucking up the same way yet again, and refund the money for the expedited shipping.
Suggestion: Square yourselves away and fix this obvious error in your inventory system. This may require you to hire competent people to carry out this noble quest for reliability.

I’m usually the girl with the 300 000 gift ideas for everyone… but to actually *find* these 300 000 gifts, it quickly resembles a scene out of «Amazing Race»…only with more temper tantrums.

WOOHOO!), and the best part… everything is delivered right to my door. No fuss, no muss. And if I don’t like it, the super easy return policy is *AWESOME*.
I once ordered a set of Buffy DVDs for my BFF. After waiting 2 weeks without seeing it, I contacted
expecting them to tell me «tough luck» and forcing me to deal with the credit card company on getting a refund. Nope! One simple email to customer service… and voila! 2 days later a replacement was shipped (which I received in 3 days). Awesome awesome awesome!

This is another one of my favorite online shopping sites. Most shipping is free with the super savers shipping (5 – 7 business days). Since I can’t easily find retailers and/​or pet stores that sell the Breeze Cat Litter Pellets, I turn to
and get a 6 bags of the pellets without having to pay for shipping. While other online retailers carry the Breeze Cat Litter pellets, shipping is typically astronomically high since they are heavy. I love to give
gift cards and the recipients love to receive them. Win-​win.

It is still a four for me. Super Saver Shipping is still okay, but I am pleased to see that I have another free delivery option available. Amazon recently launched AmazonTote, which is a twice weekly service in the Seattle area that will deliver your items to your front door. It is similar to their established AmazonFresh grocery delivery service, in which you can also include
items to your order.
Unlike AmazonFresh and
standard shipping, there is no minimum purchase to get free delivery. At least for now. I can randomly just buy the newest Kings of Leon CD release, without having to order anything additional to reach a delivery order requirement. And the cutoff times for delivery are reasonable and faster than ordering the standard way on Amazon. Cutoff for Thursday delivery for me is Tuesday, which is certainly a quicker way to get it unless you already have AmazonPrime.
But what I particularly like is that they do not deliver the packages via those bulky containers that AmazonFresh does or in an
package. Instead, it is delivered in a simple reusable tote bag. AmazonTote is a more earth friendly, convenient delivery option.
The large selection is what makes me patronize Amazon, but new additions like AmazonTote make shopping online there easier, more convenient and increases customer loyalty.

I’ve been contemplating ordering some Photographic and Bicycling accessories recently and have some suggestions for Amazon…
The cost for the above items total from around $ 2.00 to less than $ 12.00 and come from many sources… including Amazon itself… mostly from third-​party sellers through Amazon. I had been shopping for the LOWEST possible price, and have found out that is totally the WRONG strategy… if you have multiple sellers.
I had been looking for the item at the lowest possible price… went to the shopping cart… and… VOILA! The price of shipping was almost the same price of the total of the purchased items! What the Bleep, Bleep???
In conclusion, my Shopping Strategy is as follows…
1. First of all, Do not try to look for the lowest price
2. Reduce the number of Sellers to as few as possible…
a. Try to «find» the Sellers which carry your items, through…
Amazon Search, OR
using google search… «amazon ‘item name’ ‘seller name’»
b Once Sellers have been found that carry your items…
Place everything in the Shopping Cart
Go through the rigamarole of purchasing until the Shipping
Charges screen details prices and shipping charges
c Go back to the Shopping Cart and delete everything from the
Seller (s) who has the highest total price (including shipping)
until you only have the fewest remaining Seller (s).
Suggestion for Amazon…
1 Include the facility to search for a specific Seller and by item name.
2 Amazon tells a Buyer who the Seller is… but when you click the
name it only takes you to the Seller’s Amazon rating. Have an
option to show everything that Seller is selling.
3 The Shopping Hints are helpful as they are based on what a Buyer
previously viewed or what’s actually in the shopping cart. Have the
hints also show what is available by different Sellers…

Sure, I knew
was good for buying DVDs, books and CDs. But little did I know, until recently, that Amazon was great for buying coffee and TVs!
For years I had purchased my scrumptious Ghiradelli’s Double Chocolate Coffee at Cost Plus World Market, never thinking that the day would come that Cost Plus would discontinue selling Ghiradelli coffees. Well, that day did come.
I thought I could learn to be satisfied with other chocolate coffees available at retail, like Godiva coffee. But none of them worked out, all with overbearing and odd flavors.
So one day, I wondered if I could procure Ghiradelli’s coffee through Amazon. And I could, at prices lower than at Cost Plus. A mere two days later (with only a modest shipping fee), there was a 3-​pack box of Ghiradelli coffee waiting for me at home, courtesy of USP.
Life was good again.
But life actually got better. After doing diligent research using Consumers Reports, we recently settled on a 42″ Panasonic plasma TV. We checked local retail outlets, including Sears, Best Buy and Standard, but our desired TV was not to be found. Yes, it could be ordered through Sears, but at a rather hefty shipping fee and also, wouldn’t be shipped for a couple weeks.
So for kicks, I checked out Amazon. Lo and behold, there was our Panasonic TV. And Amazon beat all other competitors on price. But best of all, we had our new Panasonic TV ensconced in an IKEA entertainment just a week later. Nice!

…let me count the ways i love thee:
one, is for the endless boundaries of shopping indulgences… from books old and new, to gadgets, gizmos, and other finds that seem too good to be true (but not!)
two, is for the free shipping I nearly always get to use… even if it takes a bit longer, FREE anything is a tough thing to refuse!
three, is for your customer service that keeps me impressed. they answer quickly, are friendly & helpful, and email me free shipping labels for returns — who would have guessed!

all I can say is amazon does it right. they make online buying easy, painless, and fun, while offering a lot of incentives like their prime membership (free month trial!), gold box deals (always check them out through the link on the top), gift cards and many promo codes… you can even get amazon credit when cashing in your change at coinstar (bypassing fee).

I sound like a terrible wife but I’m really not, honest. This Christmas, I asked the hubby to list what he wants on his wishlist on Amazon. He looked clueless and I told him about the wishlist he can create. He went to town with that. I bought everything off his wishlist, but now, he keeps adding stuff for his upcoming birthday and our anniversary, and our engagement anniversary… oh boy.
But I was really happy that I was able to get him everything he wanted and nothing he didn’t care for. I love that I can compare prices and choose who I want to buy it from, shipping is fast and most of the time free for me and great customer service.
Now, I’m getting my whole family to create wishlists to make my life a little bit easier.

Thinking about a review for
immediately a song starts playing in my head… specifically, «Anything You Want by Roy Orbison»:

So it goes when you are looking for items that are not so easily found by shopping locally, and even items that are, this is the place to visit. Case in point — oldest needed/​wanted a camcorder to use for college with good quality and dependability — ordered one that didn’t meet expectations — printed out a shipping label to send it back and pressed a few buttons on the ol’ laptop and boom another (more expensive and better brand) was in her hands in just shy of 24 hours.
You may not always have the best experience with Amazon, but do you really have a perfect service record with any company these days? The reality is that back in 1995 the little bookstore online launched and is now one of the most globally used online shopping venue around.
Yes it is designed for those who let their fingers do the shopping (sorry Yellowbook-​but the statement fit) rather than actually speaking to a human. It is now my «go to» especially over this past holiday season, and quite frankly they didn’t let me down… I have some very appreciative gift recipients to prove it :)

I have been using
for years. Everything I ordered has always come on time. I’ve done a little shopping using the Amazon marketplace and that seems to work as well. This year, I did almost all of my shopping on
. That’s right folks, I totally avoided holiday shopping crowds and I tell you. it was GLORIOUS! Everything I ordered was brand new and in tact.
I can’t say much bout customer service because I haven’t had to use them at all (not yet anyway)
As long as I can find decent rates/​prices for items I like, I’ll continue to use them.

The world is a jungle not restricted to only New York. Yet despite the world is a jungle, I scryed and found hard-​to find books and other printed matter where traditional book stores do not carry as my crystal dropped on Amazon. Secure ordering, third party sellers are notable which creates a gargantuan selection of books, DVD’s either brand new or used to entice one’s interest.
I rate it four stars as Amazon does not have many reputable vendors where products are available. I purchased a calendar, pure Canadian maple cookies and «Chronicles of Narnia: The Horse and the Boy» where these are not easy to obtain here in the Big Apple.

Free Shipping for selected items (mix and match) that total over $ 25 is often too good to pass up. So too with the option of buying something used at an even lower price (with modest shipping). And of course there’s usually no sales tax, especially considering California’s current VAT-​like level.
I also often use the Wish List feature to keep track of possible indulgences and help Gayle, me, and others figure out seasonal gift ideas. Prices are usually very competitive and if you shop carefully, you can often do better than ebay. I also like the «Pre-​Order» feature, especially when the final price comes in lower.
I still buy books at independent bookstores and have joined associated member support groups (e.g., Kepler’s and Book Passage). And although most of my Amazon purchases aren’t book-​related, I still feel guilty about the ones that I do occasionally buy here. At least when I buy one used, it is usually from a «brick and mortar» bookstore that also sells on line.

I use this website to it’s fullest capacity. While Em & I were in school we’d get our books through here, either from Amazon or their third party sellers. We also find that now we’re selling many of the books we’ve bought through the site as well — and trust me, I’ve sold tons already!!!
It used to be that you could only buy books here, then CD, and now you can pretty much find anything you want. Even things you didn’t even know you wanted.
I have the Amazon Prime membership — which is awesome because you get free second business day delivery, or for only $ 4 you get next day delivery. I’m all about the quick gratification here!
Amazon has a wish list section, where you can create more than one list. I have for books I want, CDs, Cookbooks, fitness gear, etc. You can make these lists private or public, and if you wish to make them public you can do it for a limited amount of time if you wish — which comes in very handy during bday time and xmas.
How many times have you been searching the web, only to find an item you really want, and as your bookmarked lists gets bigger and bigger you forget about it? Well… Amazon has a toolbar button you can download, and when you’re in a website, lets say «as seen on TV dot com» and you find something you like, you just click on the Add to Wish List button, and it will add the item, web site, and price to your Amazon wish list.
Amazon has other stores that link to it. Making it easier to remember your passwords, etc. So if you’re shopping Target online, use the Amazon log in, same for
— nice, easy, quick!

I love
. I visit it everyday. Not as often as Unilocal and I don’t necessarily buy anything I just like looking at stuff that comes to mind.
They have a great Wish List feature so if I find something that I cant get now I add to it and when I’m ready I just go there and go to check out.
Plus, the feature of making Gift Lists for people in your life is wonderful and I set up reminders a month before their birthdays. I get an email from Amazon reminding me about the birthday and they throw some gift ideas in there for them.
Amazon is, I think, taking a que from Unilocal because now they offer you to review your purchases and upload pictures. This is so handy because I was looking for baby stuff for my friend and people had uploaded photos of their baby’s in what ever contraption I was thinking of buying for her. Very useful.
I review things on there that I may not have bought on Amazon but I just like reviewing things I think. Duh!
Great prices, great customer service. If I have ever had a problem with Amazon or someone selling through Amazon I have always been treated wonderfully and promptly.

This place is definitely the castle that was described to me by the locals. But I’m not here to review the building (but I’m sure it gets GREAT views from the top) as this is primarily for AMAZON!
I personally LOVE amazon because of its great prices. I love designer shoes (go figure…) and they always have the hottest designer shoes for like 70% off. I always end up getting my Charles David’s for not $ 100, not $ 50 but sometimes $ 25 – 30 SHIPPED! … plus the no tax over here is sweet too :)
They ship things fast and keep you updated with lots of emails on your order, and pre-​ordering things (as I’ve done several times with books and games) is easssssy and they almost always upgrade me to over night shipping if I pre-​order months in advance when they announce pre-​ordering availability. Love amazon.

As the first major retailer to make it big during the Dot Com boom, I lamented Amazon for its Walmart-​ish tactics in selling anything and everything online. The only purchase I wanted to make from Amazon in the early years was a share of their stock options. Aside from Google, they were almost indeed the most profitable and still remain a major player today.
Nowadays, with so many retailers competing as the e-​commerce market becomes more fierce, I find myself resorting to Amazon for their solid prices and very fast delivery times. Not to mention the fact they are likely to have things in inventory than the smaller retail stores. I’ve bought everything from an air mattress to computer speakers to digital cameras via Amazon for less than what I would have paid at other places.
That’s not to say that Amazon is the answer to everything. Customer Service online can be a little too automated at times and the phone service is suspect to long hold times, especially during the holidays. Occasionally it can be hard to locate an item and is easy to mix up an auctioned item, refurbished item, or something actually being sold by Amazon. I’d still give them the thumbs up for general items and various deals.

It’s a jungle out there.
But driven by desire and lust, you intrepidly plunge yourself through the torrid and untamed jungle; looking for El Dorado in the midsts of unwavering commercial flora and fauna, maniacally bent in thwarting your quest by virtue of their lack of repertoire.
You are about to collapse in exhaustion, when a little monkey comes crawling down a tree and hands you a keyboard. He slaps you in the face, and that’s when you remember: «Wait! Fuck the Virgin Jungle, I have Amazon!!»
Then you saunter. Fields upon fields stocked with the most rare out of prints flowers and fungi in the Music industry; So, De/​Vision, The Chameleons, iris, Glow, Delirium, Freur… CD’s whose aroma you thought extinguished forever. Moreover, the Amazonians have taken it upon themselves to electronically make these rarities available via the Amazon Mp3 downloader; iTunes may rule the indies, but Amazon reigns the rarities.
The pulp trees in Amazon are also majestic; and in these there is no tilt towards old or new, for Amazon has them all. Old and strange books and texts, as well as new and improved. DVD butterflies and mosquitos are not an exception in this jungle, and you can find every conceivable DVD arthropod you can imagine; expect to be bitten by incredible foreign film finds, as well as from all DVD regions (1,2,3 etc). Moreover, you can RESERVE and pre-​order a given CD, Book, or DVD before the release date, so you can have it at your doorstep they day it comes out.
Many other things you will find in the Amazon; electronics, clothes, gear and even that rare watch which you won’t find anywhere else in the U.S.
So whenever you feel lost in the jungle, and don’t know where your El Dorado may be, don’t forget the Amazon that lies at the ends of the keyboard… unless you enjoy being slapped by a monkey, that is (sex toys are also available in Amazon *cough*)

… I can’t imagine another website where its a huge conglomerate where I can buy everything to my heart’s content. Ironically I still remember back near 10 years ago when it was only a bookstore… and advertising as the biggest bookstore in the world… Nowadays its the biggest everything store in the world.
I love the free shipping with 25 dollar purchase! Usually everything here is a breeze when there are no hiccips. Punch in my order, click click click and stuff just magically shows up at the door!

It’s really hard to know how good something is until you’ve tried the bad.

I’ve bought so much random stuff that they’ve given up on suggesting what my next purchase should be.

I have so many old items in my wish list that some of those things are now collectibles and way beyond the price I’m willing to pay. Yet I still believe those same rare items will still go on sale one day and continue to keep it on my list.
