Alexandra’s Exclusively Designer Consignment

Went in for the first time this past week. There are a lot of things, and I have to agree that the styles are mostly conservative– a lot of blacks. Small sizes are hard to find. There are some nice dressy shoes for the summer, but fall/​winter selection is more limited. Of the three items I tried on, one from the clearance rack had clear visible stain as well as multiple holes. I walked away with a good cardigan, the price is somewhat comparable to high-​end ebay;

There many high end labels from purses to shoes. Items include Prada, LV, Dooney & Bourke, etc. There inventory changes seasonally and daily. There are deals of the day and you have to log on to Facebook/​email to get notices. Don’t forget to check out the back of the store. The service is okay, but not always willing to help. Great place to find formal dresses!

Several people in my family have sold clothing/​jewelry for almost 25 years at Alexandra’s. It is a very high quality, designer-​ish type of consignment store — so they tend to reject labels like Banana Republic or Ann Taylor — all merchandise is top-​notch, and your ‘stuff’ will be evaluated according to very high standards — this is no ‘Buffalo Exchange’, ‘Crossroads’ — the owner deals with mature women for quality designer products, period. It can honestly be a bit frustrating trying to sell stuff with them b/​c they are very picky — but yet I respect their overall business philosophy — and my deceased mother, my older sister, and I have consigned with them for many years. Apparently they have some ‘storage warehouse’ — so they even accept out-​of-​season clothing as they can store it — quite a rarity in the consignment world. I very much admire how the owner — «Alexandra» does business — it is pure quality, reliable and most of all — very fashionable.

I have been shopping at Alexandra’s for years and treasure this unique designer clothing boutique. When I look in my closet, my most favorite items, and most frequently wore are ones purchased at Alexandra’s. From classic to very trendy, I can find that special piece, especially with the help of Renee and Molly. These women know there designer labels, and have a great eye for what looks good on me. I can always count on their honest opinions, and thoughtful suggestions. It is rare any longer to find such personal customer service.
I think Alexandra’s has been downtown for over 25 years providing beautiful, affordable designer clothing and accessories. Thank you for continueing to offer me such great choices for my wardrobe, as well as a delightful shopping experience.

their selection is pretty current like what you find in the contemporary ladies section of department stores today, not much is very unique.
the pieces cater to middle aged women and older women who are more streamline than outlandish.
mostly size medium items all around and pretty much all are designer.
i thought the lady working at the counter was courteous and wasn’t watching my every move.

This store has treasures galore! From mid-​range to high end most anyone can shop here. The best part of this well-​stocked store is the service! The manager (who has been working there for 20+ years) is the kindest lady you’ll meet.
I stopped in just for a short time just before they were closing. I HAD to go back the next day because there was so much more I needed to look at. They called me by my first name as well as many other customers that came into visit. I don’t think their customers would be returning if their service or products were bad.
If you’re a HIGH-​END consumer and want to look for a ‘treasure’ then know your product, because they do have a sign that says, «All Sales Final.» But if you are a HIGH-​END consumer, then you probably wouldn’t be shopping there. Consignment stores can be hit or miss but it’s all in the fun of treasure hunting.
They also don’t hound you or fluff you up, by saying, «That looks great on you!» just to make a sale.
It’s too bad my niece gave them a low rating, even after they took back her product, that I returned for her, without knowing their sales policy. They didn’t have to. They were upset at me at first, but realizing how I was caught in the middle, they were very, very apologetic to me.
I would not hesitate to shop there again and I’ve been to a lot of consignment stores and this one is right up my alley for pricing and quality products!

I have to give this store 1 star since 0 is not an option for the bad customer service given when the product (a Salvatore Ferragmo belt) was not authenticate.
BEFORE, purchasing the belt, I SPECIFICALLY asked the store manager whom had been working there for over 20+ years, 1. How they authenticated their items 2. If an item proved not to be authentic, can I return it for my money back? These are TWO very important questions you should ask when doing consignment shopping and also very reasonable. The items are cheapER not cheap. So it’s understandable that you’re only scoring a great deal IF they are real, otherwise you’ve wasted money on a fake item.
Her response was that they authenticate by doing their own research (online), from what they know to be true and also that the stores reputation and its consigners over the years have proven great quality. And then, I again ASKED her IF the item was not authentic, could I bring it back and get my money back and she said YES.
Because we went to the store before closing, I purchased the belt trusting her and the stores quality. As a matter of fact, when she rung up the purchase she said that particular item had come from someone that had been consigning for a while.
As a smart shopper/​consignment purchaser I went home to do my own extensive research which included the following: 1^st, a simple google image search, NONE of the buckles looked like the belt I purchased known to be an authentic Salvatore Ferragmo belt. I even checked older models 2^nd, an online search of several forums of how to authenticate the SF belts. All forums said that their should be a serial number. This belt had absolutely no serial number on it (the strap or buckle). 3^rd, my friend works at Salvatore Ferragamo.
NOW, I would not be writing this review IF they had easily accepted the return for the belt as promised literally the night before. However, they were upset with my aunt when she came in and questioned how it was UN «authentic» and gave her unnecessary trouble. Ummm Google? It was simple and obviously not checked like they had mentioned! You shouldn’t have to feel like that from any top quality brand store, consignment or not. These are small boutiques and the service is heavily part of the overall experience.
Although this store is big, beware of their items!!! «Sell your Sole» goes through extensive process to authenticate their items which is expected from a top quality consignment store.

Must have caught her on a bad day, but the clerk at Alexandra’s yesterday (when I went in to consign a designer item) was rude. I went in with a full-​length Gallery
raincoat, worn once and vintage I might add, a brand that sells today at Nordstrom for $ 200-​$ 300 new. She looked at it for barely three seconds and made the decision that it wasn’t appropriate for her store. Was it the Size 14 label? or the label that said Made in Taiwan. Ok, politically incorrect maybe, but proof that the garment was vintage. When I left she voiced a departing remark in a sarcastic tone. It left me with a bad taste in my mouth and confirmation that buying in consignment shops is generally more pleasant than consigning to them. I’m off to First Avenue in search of nicer people.

This consignment store has excellent quality clothing at very reasonable prices. It reminds me of the best similar stores in Manhattan and San Francisco. I have shopped here for over five years and always find timeless, quality clothes to buy among the vast selection!

On the down side, I did see a few too many pieces from the 1990s.
It’s possible to have a smashing wardrobe if one makes a habit of popping into consignment shops every month or two, and buying only truly flattering pieces. (or having them altered.) That’s how to win by shopping Alexandra’s.

I love consignment shops, and I was really excited to come here. I spent no more than 20 minutes in the shop, because I was not that impressed. When I first entered, one of the shop owners greeted me with a warm hello, the other one not so much.
Secondly, not much designer clothes for girls in their 20s. I was really hoping to see a lot of Nanette Lepore, Theory, D&G, Diesel, DKNY, Karen Millen and unique Seattle designers, but there was not that much. Most of the clothes seemed dated (even though in great condition). They do have a decent selection of shoes and accessories and some cute scarves.
But I did not find anything that I was dying over. I thought it was even pricey for designer consignment. Not well organized, I was hoping to see racks just for one or two specific designers, instead organized by type and that is it.

This is a large store full of dated designer clothes, shoes and accessories. I looked through most racks at it took over an hour. If it had 50% less items on the floor it would be a much more enjoyable experience. There were few items that I would have tried on if it were in my size. I did try on a Burberry wool coat that was beautiful but too small. I agree with other reviewers that this is for an older crowd. I did score a chunky pearl necklace (costume I think) for $ 40. If I am walking past some other time I would go back, but would not make a special trip.

I regularly shop at Alexandra’s-anytime I need a certain item but don’t want to pay full price. They may have what I want. They ALWAYS have something I was not looking for but leave the store wanting it. The staff are extremely nice and accessible. Yes, some things are behind counters for safety — it’s necessary! Ask and they are glad to show and don’t expect you to buy it. These are women who genuinely appreciate fine goods and they enjoy showing and talking about it. They know designers and the design history.

Not impressed. I had really high hopes for this store after receiving a recommendation from a Portland consignment shop and reading glowing Unilocal reviews but will likely not be back. Yes, its all designer, and yes, there is a large selection but I spent a decent amount of timing combing through the racks and did not find one item worth trying on. I am 29 and I felt like the selection is aimed at a much older clientele, which is totally fine, but not for me. If you are in your 20s or a youthful dressing 30s you may well feel the same.

I found too much here! it is such a great store, they even had a chanel sweater. The prices are pretty good too and the sales person checks everything you want to buy to see if they can bring it down in price any more which is super nice. You really get to sift through the racks to find a treasure which is half the fun!

This is a very big consignment store — one of the biggest I’ve seen (and trust me, I’ve been in a lot). There are a ton of shoes, purses (although most of those are in a case), jackets, skirts, blouses, pants, you name it. They carry high to very high end names here — think Burberry, Prada, Theory, Trina Turk, Louboutin, etc.
I found their prices to be rather reasonable. I was lusting after a Burberry pleated skirt for around $ 100 but alas it was too big for me. They had a decent sale section in the back, and there were a lot of markdowns in red. I almost considered a Trina Turk grey wool jacket for like $ 30 but I had a feeling it would just end up unused in my closet. Even in the non-​sale section, there are still markdowns to be found: I found a lot of pants, in particular, marked down (Prada black pants for $ 30?! These will retail $ 200+ no doubt).
Sizes seem to be plentiful. I definitely found a big range here, from XS to XL.
I didn’t buy anything in this store, though. I do find that there’s a lot of good labels here, but the styles seem to feel like the older ladies of the Upper East Side — you know, like Chanel suits, those kinds of styles. Which is nice, but I’m still a young 20-​something so I want fun and frilly merchandise that appeal to younger women.
Anyway, don’t let that stop you from browsing the store. I think the selection is enormous and the prices are fairly reasonable.

Awesome way to free your closet up from things you don’t want to see in there anymore, things that don’t fit or never did, and get some cash for things you really need. I have had good experiences each time I have visited. Down side — things take a long time to get on the racks and sell, and while I took many items there about 10 months ago, I have yet to see a check or a tax receipt in the mail.

The selection at Alexandra’s remains impeccably curated. Love the shop owner and staff — always friendly and helpful.

There is so much that I love about this place.
The labels, quality, and selection are tops. The sales team is friendly and helpful without being pushy (a place that carries Vera Wang, Prada, etc., is typically the opposite!) Not only have I shopped here, but also sold a few items. They only take what they can sell, which is a refreshing change from other consignment shops. You get a detailed inventory via email, and then, a few months later, a check in the mail. Beautifully organized and a total bonus for supporting a top-​notch shop.
Alexandra’s, I love thee. Thank you for being a friend.

Alexandra’s is not for the faint of heart. The Weitzman and Prada shoes by the door sent a clear message: You cannot afford this place. Be intimidated.
Deep breath, be cool.
I attempted to hide from the personnel as I scooted in, sure they would sense my financial lack and give me the stink eye. I slunk around the backside of the racks, surreptitiously glancing at the price tags. Ye gads, $ 200 for a used Moschino sweater!
Wandering through the store, which is fairly huge, the layout started to make sense. Garments were grouped by type, then by color but not by size. The racks by the door are everything black, just black. Then, day dresses on a rack, formals on the wall, racks of separates and then coats. And on the farthest back wall, Eureka, the clearance rack. Every store has one. Designer only, so no plus sizes.
It would take hours to really shop this store thoroughly and the hubby was waiting, so I skimped. Also, when you know that literally everything is lightyears out of your budget, where’s the fun? For someone else, such as the couple checking out who dropped $ 1,800 apparently without heart palpitations or anything, Alexandra’s has an abundance of miraculous things. It truly was a pleasure to get a close up look at these incredibly well made garments. If you love designer, this is the place for you.
A slick publication in Seattle recently ran a review of Seattle’s consignment shops and where to get the best deals. They did not mention Alexandra’s, which seems insane. For anyone with a high profile job in downtown Seattle, this is place to shop, absolutely.
In all fairness, I did stop to chat with the lovely ladies who work in Alexandra’s and ask permission to snap a few pictures. They were the friendliest staff I have ever encountered anywhere. They were interesting and interested and just completely sweet. And that’s what I get for being paranoid.
