Mat with Sounds Unlimited DJ’d our wedding on ¹⁰⁄₉. He was amazing! He was extremely professional and played a great mix of songs that kept out party dancing until the very end. The online planning tool is great and helps guide you through the entire process.

From the first part of my wedding planning to the very end, no detail was left on the table. Matt our DJ was very professional, knowledgeable and super cool to work with. He took time to understand us and our needs, when he arrived it was like a part of the wedding and not working it. Even with our crazy family and their impromptu request, he went with the flow seamlessly.
Their planning website was easy to use and covered things we even forgot about! We got the classic package with up-​lighting, which was really reasonably priced. I would highly recommend A Sounds Unlimited for any type of event, especially a wedding!

So this has been irking me since yesterday. And before I start Im not going to book with them just because of the odd policies and customer service. If you are a free thinker, capable of asking around and all that you will find out that not many formal «professionals» in any art form have «formal» training. So telling me (without even saying who they were) that all the other DJs don’t have the «experience» or «training» that their DJs have is something of an odd statement. Being in any professional service I’m going to venture to say you have passion, and that passion leads to learning and experience. So no other DJs outside their company may not have the «training» but that’s probably because they don’t work for your company? Just a thought. That may seem like an odd thing to get worked up about but I’m not sure if it’s just me and all the vendors I have worked with but not a single one of them put down their completion. Actually only one asked who I had met with. I told her and she was like «oh» and changed the subject and that’s totally cool, she just wanted to know. So like I said if you are a free thinker, know a dj or hell just ask a florist, photographer or at home chef what kind of training they have received, they will more than likely say that first comes the passion then with that the experience and that’s all you need!
The other part is the odd policies. So you basically put the deposit down before your handed over a contract (again this maybe the norm but never in my life have I ran into that). And the upmost biggest issue I personally have is the fact you can’t meet with your dj until about 30 days (read the knot review, most say about a day or two) before the wedding because they have some online tool. How are you supposed to know if you click with a dj or mc? And who has time a few days before the wedding to be worrying about something that could of been established a few months ago? Again I’m just not easy to sell things too but I’m not that hard to break budget if I just feel like we would work better together. This isn’t a reality tv show, you don’t have to make me turn on other DJs by saying petty things, in my case I just figured a review would be enough (this is my first negative review) to maybe help some other people out. For the amount you would pay you can get a better deal.

Great! We worked with Darmeny and he was awesome! He called us the week of our wedding to go over the timeline and songs we submitted and walked through everything with us.
Sounds Unlimited was great. We found them at the Seattle Wedding show and got an extra hour of music for free and added on another hour and room lighting as well. They were super easy to work with and had a website we logged into to submit all of our information.
On the day of the wedding Darmeny was waiting with cocktails for us as we signed our marriage license. He took the songs we provided and threw in some of his own as well and everyone was dancing the whole night! He was awesome! He definitely kept the party going and fed off the vibe of the room. If you want a party Darmeny at Sounds Unlimited is the way to go!

We absolutely loved our DJ Tyler and our Emcee Shawn. They were unobtrusive, likeable, responsive and they kept the evening running. They knew what I wanted with sort of ecclectic recommendations from us. The groom and I have very different tastes in music and they were able to effortlessly accommodate both and keep the crowd dancing. We had a blast — they even got the doorman dancing!

Every single staff member at A Sounds Unlimited is so knowledgeable, understanding and helpful. Amanda was an integral part of this process. Not only in the beginning stages of trying to decide what I really needed (and could afford), but also as the date drew closer. Both her and Sarah were very responsive to all my e-​mail questions (She always answered within the day!), phone questions (was more than happy to call if that worked better for me that day), and I really felt that they always had my best interest in mind. They explained each different package and what was included and I honestly feel like this is the best deal out there (I chose the DJ&MC option). Make sure you choose this package! My wedding night was organized, less stressful, and flowed in a timely manner because of the DJ & MC.
Please please please get that package (the MC + DJ). I promise you, it’s one of the best wedding decisions I made. I had a pretty tight budget, but Amanda was so understanding, and helped me to make the perfect decision.
Ted (our MC) was so great. I HONESTLY don’t know how things would have gone without him. When the pizza was running behind, Ted kept me grounded and reminded me that everything was going just as planned.
I had forgotten to pick a song for the «mothers» as they were seated, Ted and our DJ had a great song choice that flowed with the rest of the night, he had everything under control! I had an unheard of song selected for my walk down the isle, and all you have to do is type the song in that you want and they find it, no problem. Even if it is not in their catalog. Our DJ (I wish i could remember his name, he was also excellent) was so cool about letting me choose songs.
I am so glad we went with Sounds Unlimited, you will too!

Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations from Sounds Unlimited. Hopefully you will have a better one than we did.
Initial contact with the staff was fine in setting up the reception. Their music selection website is clunky and not very user friendly at best but you will muddle through.
My wife and I along with our wedding planner had a phone call to make final arrangements with the MC. You won’t meet with DJ or MC until day of. We told the MC that our crowd would need a encouragement to get up to mingle and dance. No problem we have tricks to do that replied the MC.
Day of the reception. MC arrived early and setup. DJ was late but no issues MC was there and had set up. MC and DJ played the songs we had on our playlist and made a couple of announcements but didn’t do damn thing to get people encouraged despite the earlier assurances.
Of course the topping on this experience is my major recollections of the DJ was him eating… and eating. That’s all I saw him do all night. I found out afterwards that he told a couple of my twenty something guests that he was still high from hempfest. Guess that explains the munchies!
I submitted a customer survey and received a very lame reply from management with excuses for the MC and requesting contact information of my guests to gather information to terminate the DJ. Huh? I am not their HR department nor do I want their contact info documented on paperwork. And I don’t need to know, or care, about their HR failures at this point.
I question the professionalism of the company in their hiring practices as well as their customer service attitude.

Sounds Unlimited has been accommodating and easy to work with, however, their song selection is bad– very bad– very limited and old. And we have a very generic mainstream taste in music, looking for absolutely nothing unusual. They provide a list of the most popular songs, but if you want to use those songs in your wedding, most of them have to go towards the «12 custom songs» you’re allowed, not nearly enough for a full day of music. Additionally, clients should know, the website is extremely outdated, and not very user friendly. Otherwise experience has been fine so far (wedding has not yet occurred.)

We used A Sounds Unlimited for our October 2010 wedding and they were great! Easy to book, I got a contract right away, and they had a website where I could pick out music and coordinate how my wedding day flowed. The DJ called a day or two before my wedding so we could chat. I told him which weird songs I wanted to play when I walked down and back up the alter and he was able to accommodate my strange tastes (War Pigs!!!). Our DJ left without saying goodbye, so I never got to tip him. He was so awesome though I called the company and mailed it to him after I got back from our honeymoon.
A Sounds Unlimited is easy to work with and provides a great service. I am so glad we went with them for our wedding!
