A Mano

My favorite place to visit in Seattle. I’ve reviewed A Mano previously but never been and yesterday was my day to bust in, FINALLY hug the owner, thank her for years of amazing service done over the phone and through interwebz and it was a treat. Nealy is in the business of knowing what will suit your feet, and your style preferences even before you know. I’m positive she thinks about her customers on her buying trips and I’m the luckiest girl ever with my new purse and my Officine Creative boots. My husband saved Christmas until yesterday, and the entire experience was perfect, and I’d been waiting a long time to give Nealy a hug and thank her for always working so hard. I’m so glad I could finally thank her in person. The purse and the boots are just the icing, and I’m still in silent awe. Mostly silent. Please visit this shop, its old fashioned, with beautiful useful handmade things and it will be the highlight of your day whether you live in Seattle or not.

This small unique shoe store has lot’s of character. Excellent customer service, and I walked home with a pair of gorgeous maroon ankle boots.
I’ve always been a designer shoe fan, but I have to say that this great store has a lot better selection to offer, and the quality is impeccable. Also, if you like modern jewelry, this is the place to look. Everything was tastefully picked.
–I already have a second pair of black boot on my wish list.

My favorite shoe store anywhere. The shoes are the best quality and will last forever with proper care, so well worth the price. Plus there are sales and great deals to be had from time to time. Also check out the beautifully curated jewelry selection. All that plus the owner is a true gem.

I like shoes a little too much. A Mano is my pusher man. This is the place to find everyday, wearable, yet magical shoes. Their lines are high quality and beautifully designed.

hmmm… I really wanted to like this store. I actually missed it the first time I was in the area because their sign is cursedly small. I could not spot it from across the street. This is pretty bad design actually since a store’s sign/​banner/​awning should be visible to attract potential customers.
The store is laid out carefully and there is not that much merchandise. I am OK with that, I like stores that have carefully edited items. Too many items can be overwhelming. That said, I felt that there weren’t that many choices in footwear. Everything looked almost the same. Well, that’s not exactly true. But all the shoes have the same aesthetic. Round toe. Not too high of a heel. Natural colored leather shoes. Basically A Mano just caries a few boots, booties, and some variations on oxford shoes.
I guess it’s too «basic» for my tastes? However, if you need basic, high quality shoes, A Mano may be worth a visit.

I’m a firm believer that quality and good design never go out of style. Every pair of shoes I’ve bought from Nealy is still in rotation and will continue to be for the foreseeable decade. She brings together a great collection of fun, well-​made and well-​designed shoes – I’m intrigued every season!
Fair enough, buying this type of footware is not going to be inexpensive, but it’s a treat I look forward to – and plan for. Over the average 5 – 10 years of wear for each pair, I’ll be walking in style for years to come!

Recently bought some boots on the online shop. I adore the boots– got a great price, and great service. I unforfunately had to exchange due to a sizing issue, but nealy was understanding and quick to respond. Still felt I got a great value despite the exchanging. Nice place.

Too much money, very few non-​leather options (which =better for the environment and vegetarians can go there) and kinda unoriginal.
The owner followed Ped, and Ped followed all the shoe boutiques in SoHo.
There’s nothing special going on really. Just the sound of your money going away and not coming back.

stumbled across this shoe boutique as we were loafing around seattle on our last day of vacation. it’s like a tiny goldmine of all my favorite brands: moma, chie mihara, cydwoq, and, now, roberto del carlo and fiorentini + baker. plus, the saleswoman was super sweet and helpful. so, of course i bought two pairs which were promptly shipped to me for $ 10. i would say i wish this store was in Chicago, but until i build my shoe museum i’ll make due with the local favorites.

I’ve never actually been to this store, only ordered over the phone, but they have a great selection & Neely (the owner?) is super nice. I’ve gotten TN_​29s on sale there and more recently a pair of Chie Mihara boots that I’m currently awaiting with great anticipation. Extra bonus=no sales tax if you live out of state and shipping is only $ 10.

I like A Mano a lot. It’s different than Ped – the selection is smaller, but that’s not necessarily a negative thing. The selection seems really cohesive, and the sales are really great.
I called the owner a couple of weeks ago after seeing online that they carried Fiorentini and Baker boots (which I love but can’t really justify) and she told me there were a couple of pairs on sale, several in my size, and that I should come down. Hottest pair of boots I’ve ever owned, $ 200 from $ 550. Amazing.
And, I just picked up a pair of Cydwoq boots at the Warehouse sale. The Warehouse sale for Ped used to be a thing of legend. This year, A Mano stepped in with a couple of other downtown boutiques (the Finery, et al.) and rented the space next door and invited their customers. So, not exactly the same warehouse sale, but still, ridiculous deals. It was a complete madhouse, but I snared the boots for $ 100, marked down from $ 400+. Not a lot of competition in the size 11 department though.
I also noticed a pair of Loeffler Randall black snakeskin boots for $ 140 in my size, but thought I should exercise a modicum of restraint (read: only brought $ 100).
Bottom line: the owner is great, the stockings are interesting & pretty, there are rolled pairs of argyles that hold up really well for $ 8/​pair, and the shoes are gorgeous.
UPDATE: Yes! Summer sale yielded one gorgeous pair of roberto del carlo black platforms (half off, love it). only a two inch platform; perfection. some excellent deals right now – pictures up online with price points and details

you can add a mano to the list of places where i’ll go the day i win the lottery. neely has a keen eye for selecting the most gorgeous italian shoes and boots. she carries my favorite lines: fiorentini & baker, loeffler randall and chie mihara as well as a well-​edited selection of yummy tights and socks. top it all off with a ring and necklace by jamie joseph and this is one happy girl!
if you are shocked by $ 250+ price tags, know that i am still wearing every single pair of shoes i’ve purchased here over the past three years … and they still look amazing! keep an eye out for seasonal sales where you can pick-​up an amazing pair of boots for upwards of 30% off.

As a shoe museum, this place is amazing.
You’ll find a well curated collection of the best of the best from shoe makers across the globe. The styles somehow manage to be both timeless and totally fit whatever is in vogue for the season.
The same can be said of their bag collection and throwing in the cutest Orla Keily bags certainly make it a place to lust after things to sling over your arm. They also carry socks from japan and comfy little fingerless gloves that won’t cover up the amazing jewelry you will be tempted into buying there. I heart you Jamie Joseph rings!!!
All of this tucked into a warm little showroom with amazing exposed brick walls makes this a great place to go for inspiration, and a special treat every once in a while, but it’s not a place I can afford to go to on a regular basis right now… right now…

A Gorgeous, GORGEOUS shoe selection that will have you wishing you had a good $ 1K to blow on foot accoutrement.
Great little space with some of the most lovely footwear Seattle has to offer. High end heels, boots, and flats in top notch leather and rich suede grace the walls in fashion forward styles that will impress even the most stylish fashionistas!
A pair of electric blue suede heels caught my eye (and made me gasp @ $ 385) while I was in yesterday, but I did notice they had a some sales pieces as well.
The owner was polite, but was chatting with some buyers while we were in. She was sweet and nice and mentioned she was traveling to Italy soon to do a little market research. How cool is that?
If you’re looking for shoes that you’ll have forever from someone who knows her stuff, this place won’t disappoint. Nice selection of handbags, jewelry, and hosiery as well.

In case you haven’t noticed the trend, I’m getting married soon, and I found my wedding shoes here. They rock. They are unique, and comfy, and cute, and insanely awesome, and super cute and I love them.
I had no desire to wear dyeable shoes or something from the BP shoe department. I stepped into A Mano to kill some time before a dinner engagement and couldn’t believe I found THE pair right there. Nealy even stretched them out a tad (the brand runs narrow), so now they are über-​perfect.
I don’t think I could afford to shop here on a regular basis, but for the super special shoe in your life, you should definitely take a look here– you just might go home very happy!
(lordy me, I think I’m loving the wedding thing way more than I ever planned to!)

Really great shoes here: lovely, unique, really well made stuff you won’t see all over town. A good mix of fashion forward yet practical and wearable. I bought beautiful Fiorentini and Baker boots here that I expect to be wearing for many winters to come. Killer bags and jewels, too.
The staff here is also fantastic. They really know their product and how it fits. And the vibe is friendly and mellow, never ever pushy or snotty. Hooray for that!

As far as I know Neely is now in charge and her eye for the unique and exceptional makes this a one stop shop for the best shoes in Seattle.
I recently bought two pairs of Miho Masui’s which are only found in a handful of stores. I wear them all the time and the leather only gets better with use. I also love her small jewelry selection, which includes Seattleite Jamie Joseph and my new favorite Sarah McGuire (out of Chicago). Any woman would be lucky to get a present or two from this gem of a store (with additional special presents of hand sewn scarves and small clutches).

Formerly Ped, now A mano (meaning ‘by hand’). Still great products. Unusual things you wont find elsewhere. A former Ped employee took over the Ped spot, so expectations are high. Hopefully the tradition of the neat and unusual will remain.
