History

Established in 1968.

The Paine Legacy’

During his lifetime Richard Cushing Paine Jr., formed the Seal Cove Auto Museum to provide a place to keep and display his extraordinary collection of rare automobiles. Although he donated a few cars to the Museum outright, the bulk of the collection on display remained in a personal Trust to the time of his death. Today, the Seal cove Auto Museum is a 501 © (3) non-​profit dedicated to exhibiting and interpreting the finest collection of «Brass Era» automobiles in America, in memory of Richard Paine.

Roberto M. Rodriguez

Mr. Rodriguez began his new duties as the Executive Director of the Seal Cove Auto Museum on May 11 of 2009. Prior to coming to Mount Desert Island, he was the Executive Director of the Revelstoke Railway Museum in Revelstoke, British Columbia, and before that, the Manager of the Precision Valley Corvette Museum in Springfield, Vermont. He has also served as the Director of the Fort at No. 4 Living History Museum in Charlestown New Hampshire, Director of Park-​McCullough House in North Bennington Vermont, and Director of the American Precision Museum in Windsor Vermont.

Mr. Rodriguez brings over thirty-​eight years of museum experience to the Seal Cove Auto Museum having started his museum career in Canada, first as an exhibition designer with the National Museums of Canada, and finally as Deputy Director of Installations at the Canadian Museum of Civilization during its design and construction.
