): Restoration/​conservation of paintings and murals in any condition by conservator with over 30 years experience in Italy and the United States. All aspects of restoration are performed including cleaning (removal of old varnish, grime and old retouchings), consolidation of flaking paint, repairs to tears and holes in canvas, Repair to solid supports, lining and edge-​lining of canvas paintings, retouching to reintegrate losses. Work has been perfomed for many Museums and Historical Societys, Auction Houses, Antique Dealers, Galleries and serious collectors as well as for treasured heirlooms. Murals have been restored for historic government buildings, Schools, Theatres, Libraries and Historic Homes. Most work is perfomed in the studio although arrangments can be made to work on-​site.

History

Established in 1982.

Sherman Art Conservation is a Painting Conservation Studio owned and operated by Jonathan Sherman. It is located at 221 Sea Cliff Avenue in Sea Cliff, Long Island. All aspects of painting restoration/​conservation are performed on a wide variety of paintings from easel paintings to murals. Jonathan Sherman received his training in Art Conservation in Florence, Italy receiving a Masters Degree from Dominican University with a specialization in Art Conservation. He served internships with the Williamstown Regional Art Conservation Center as well as the Springfield Museum of Art. In addition to studio work on easel paintings, Jonathan Sherman has worked on the conservation of numerous murals onsite and has served as a consultant on the restoration of historic interiors including murals and decorative painting.
