Billy G’s Beach Bistro

We went there for our New Year’s dinner and were not disappointed. It was a 4 course meal for $ 50.00 per person prix fixe bring your own. I had made a late reservation and they wer able to take us. They had quite as few group set ups. We went there at 6pm and were the second table seated. Will look forward to another regular meal there. Friendly staff.

We choose Billy G’s for my husbands 50^th birthday celebration. The owner agreed to close the restaurant to create a private party for our 30 guests. We had family style appetizers, choice of 2 salads and 4 entrée choices which was all delicious. This is a byob restaurant and they kindly set up a table and our beverages very nicely for our self serve bar. The service was wonderful and again our food was delicious. I was very happy overall to support this local establishment. Perfect for your next private party!

I tried all summer but never made it to Bill G’s. I have gone after Labor Day and have already been there 2X. I am often disappointed with the food and service at the Jersey shore. But I like Billy G’s. It’s a BYOB and I like that. I am a fish eater and have enjoyed the food, the fish is fresh and well prepared. My SO is not a fish eater and he has enjoyed his meals as well. The only thing lacking is atmosphere, there isn’t much, but the place is clean and warm, and the food makes up for it. I like the resturaunt and will go back

I’m usually never compelled to bring on a negative review. Usually I would just chalk it up to a bad experience and never go to that place again… However, was my bridal shower.
Probably the worst service I have EVER had– I’m not exaggerating– and it was MY bridal shower!!! Really upsetting, and if it wasn’t for the amazing company I would have said it was a bad time.
The owner was rude to my bridesmaids when they mentioned the service. My Guests left before they served coffee or my cupcakes because they never even served coffee or my cupcakes!!!
By the time 2 ½ hours went by, half the tables were done eating and the other half hadn’t even gotten their food (including me!!). I promise I am NOT exaggerating. This was REALLY upsetting to see my guests hungry and waiting.
Also the server didn’t mention 2 of the entrees offered to half of my guests
(again, Including me!!)

Great food, very friendly staff — crab cakes are really good. For Sea Bright, the food has been hit-​or-​miss, so this place was a nice surprise. The inside is nothing to speak of really, but you can come in casual or nicer and have a good meal with friendly folks.

I came at about 2:00 for a salad and was told there was no fruit. No problem, I ordered the greek salad, $ 10.95. The order taker was a nice gentlemen. Even though the menu says the salad is «a mean by itself», I had to ask for some bread to help me fill up. It was overpriced but I expected it for a tourist location. It was just okay.

Recently tried Billy G’s Bistro for the first time. Unfortunately it will be my last. The atmosphere needs some help. Lower the lights so I don’t feel like I am eating in a hospital cafeteria. Put some candles on the table. I noticed candles in the window that were not lit. There was also a light bulb out over one table which was probably a blessing for them. The music playing from the boom box was also not appropriate for this space. What is the atmosphere you are trying for? Quaint and charming could be possible with some minor tweaks but you are currently missing the mark.
Food was ok but portions were small for the price. Perhaps adding a vegetable to these dishes would balance out the plate instead of just a small portion of chicken or shrimp and mushy rice.
I wish you luck and hope you take this input to turn things around.

I really hate to be negative because I hate to hurt anyone’s feelings but our experience was really that bad and would like to save others from having such a terrible experience. We are amazed that this place is still in business with so many other options. But Sean (co-​owner) server tried but suspect that he has no control over what comes out of the kitchen. But this should be no excuse because he should have a say.
From the beginning we should have been warned because we were the only diners at 7:30. Not one of our dishes came out as explained by way of menu and Sean. The Alaskan Sole special with Asparagus ($ 28) did not even have Asparagus on the plate and the filet was so small I was shocked that the chef or Sean allowed it to be delivered to our table. The plate was loaded with white rice that was mushy. It was supposed to be in a white wine/​lemon/​butter sauce but was lacking in so many ways. We ordered two specials but the filets were so small each plate should have had at least two pieces but surprisingly not. This should have been priced at about $ 12−14… not $ 28.
The portion/​quality/​price must change because there is no value or enjoyment getting ripped off as we were. If not for the
dough certificate taking $ 50 off the bill there is no way we could in any way justify dining here.
The Bistro Burger ($ 13) was ok at best… overcooked and the French fries did not come out until 10 minutes after burger arrived, only after us telling them they were missing.
The Shrimp Scampi was loaded with white rice that called for Jumbo shrimp but at best was large, farm raised, with no flavor. This was priced at $ 25 and should have been no more than $ 13 – 14. The rice was soupy and not even eatable.
The Flank/​hangar steak ($ 25) was tasty but portion size was so small we had to bring it to the attention of Sean. He then brought out another equal portion piece which then only made it a respectable portion size. It was slightly over-​cooked.
I am very surprised at anyone leaving this place glowing reviews and suspect it must be family and friends trying to help them out. In truth the best way to help them out is to be honest so they get their act together (if possible) and turn it around by serving up quality, good tasting food, reasonable portions and prices and they will earn a following. Until then we will not return.
This place is in need of Chef Ramsey to overhaul it.

Well, the food wasn’t spoiled…
Horrendous food. 1) The waiter, puts his dirty thumb over the side of the plate which left a dirty mark.
2)Bread came out cold as an ice cube. 3) Whoever was cooking doesn’t know a thing about spices. No flavor in any of the dishes. My shrimp scampi was sitting in 2 inches of soupy water.
3)the floor looked like it was mopped up after a YMCA event. And no décor.
I could go on but, it woul take all night.

Good atmosphere! Fantastic lunch fresh and delicious. Keith as warm and welcoming. Super fast service. Highly recommend this place. BYOB. Right across from the beach

This place is terrible! The service sucked and what type of restaurant by the beach would only have 1 waitress when it’s a touristy area. My food came out wrong and the manger was waiting on us and he brought my food to the table when he should of made sure it was the correct dish! The manager has no type of customer service skills what so ever! Also the food is not worth the price they tell you it is on the menu

Omg !!! This place is truly a gem! Its a must try. The owner billy g is so nice and made us feel so comfortable. The food is outstanding. Can’t wait to go back

My wife and I visited Billy’s recently with a
certificate. I’m going to provide you with an honest to goodness review — 100% honest. When you first arrive the ambiance in the restaurant is a bit cold due to all the white tiling. The coldness of the ambiance is immediately warmed up by Sean — part owner and also our server for the night. If I was rating Sean’s personality and caring alone it would be a 5-​star review but like I said — total restaurant experience. The menu is VERY limited with only a few selections. The appetizers were really very good — Caesar salad was perfectly prepared and calamari was also cooked very well. Here’s where things took a turn that Sean had no control over — both entrees were really, really bad. My wife had 5 spice «dusted» scallops — the scallops themselves were WAY overcooked and super rubbery and 5 spice should never be used with scallops — the 5 spice seasoning throughout the entire dish (scallops, rice, sauce) was too aggressive and not appropriate for a delicate scallop dish. I had salmon which again was WAY overcooked — so much so that it actually crumbled apart from being so dry — at $ 30 entrees you need to expect near perfection when charging more than so AMA across the street which is a home run every single time. Again, this review is not meant to «bash» this restaurant but the chef really needs to revisit the way entrees are prepared and cooked — there are just too many good choices in the Sea Bright area to fall flat on first impressions.

while looking for a new place to try. I told my boyfriend about it and we went there for Valentine’s Day with the price fixe menu. I loved the quaint size of the restaurant and the comfortable atmosphere. The food went beyond my expectations. Absolutely top notch. I referred my parents and they went the same weekend and love it as well. We can’t wait to go back!

This place is a disaster, These other 4 stars reviews must be family members, a complete disaster from start to end, And the service was very bad, Don’t waste your money here, home made pasta, this guy better go back to Bensonhurst to learn how to cook, Real bad,

I don’t l know where the last two reviewers ate but it couldn’t have been this place! It was a joke from the beginning and got worse from there. I give the place 6 months before the doors r closed!

Four times in 4 weeks. That’s how good it is. We will be making it 5 times in 5 weeks next week. We ordered extra food to take hone with us so we could enjoy it throughout the week. Monica, the chef is very talented and once again surpassed my expectations.
Betsy, once again ordered the Caesar salad and once again stated that this was one of the best if not the best she has ever had. She also had the house made gnocchi for a second time and it was just as good as the first. She tried the sliced steak this time and thought it was wonderful.
I had the pork chop this time which was served with a cranberry spinach salad and smashed potatoes. The salad was yummy (what can I say but yummy — my expletives are running out). The smashed potatoes where buttery and quite good. The pork chop was a bit over done yet still good.
I don’t know if it is because of my first review but the décor appeared to be updated. They swapped out the white napkins for a pale yellow which added a bit more color. Although I am not positive I think the art work was updated too. At any rate, the restaurant seemed to be even more comfortable and cheerful.
Beach Bistro is truly exceptional. Billy G’s Beach Bistro more commonly known as Beach Bistro is located in Sea Bright, NJ, right on Ocean Ave. in downtown Sea Bright on Ocean Ave.

We were walking when we saw this place and decided to give it a try. When we got in, we were greeted and noticed the nice ambiance. We got the the Cesar’s salad (which was amazing!), mussels and rigatoni with vodka sauce. It was one of the best I ever had! We tried their SPECIAL FOR TODAY, which was shrimp stuffed with crabs and it was AMAZING!
I would highly recommend this place!!!
