New Visions Studio & Gallery is an overall creative space for artists and art lovers located in downtown Scranton. We offer a new and different art exhibit every month with opening on First Friday, art classes for kids and adults, music events, and B/​W photography darkroom rental and lessons. We have a retail storefront featuring hand-​made crafts and vintage goods. We also sell local artists original artworks and crafts on a consignment basis. Our venue is over 2,000 square feet and can be rented out by the hour for any kind of event. We hold childrens art birthday parties for kids of any ages. New possible events in the future include: flea markets, craft parties, sidewalk art sales, open mic nights, poetry readings and comedy shows.

History

Established in 2010.

Owners and operators Adam Weitzenkorn and Melanie Boisseau moved from Boston, MA to Scranton, PA in 2010. Their goal here: to create and artists space where creativity can thrive and be encouraged throught the community. The opened New Visions in Taylor, PA in September of 2010. In May of 2011, the studio relocated to downtown Scranton to be a part of First Friday Scranton. They hope to help in the revitalization of downtown Scranton by offering youths and adults a fun and productive place to learn new things and practice the things they already love.

Meet the Business Owner

Melanie B.

Business Owner

Melanie is the part-​owner and Curator of Exhibits at New Visions Studio & Gallery. She plans all aspects of each featured exhibits at the gallery and manages their multi-​station darkroom facilities. Melanie is the recent recipient of The Times Leader 40 Under 40 Award. She won this in 2010 for her outstanding accomplishments as a role models for the young people of NEPA.

She graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a BFA in Photography in 2010. She is originally from Ayer, MA, living in Boston for five years while earning her degree and now resides in Scranton, PA
