Heil’s Place

I had come to this place many years ago and always had a great time. Just recently came here and the service was atrocious. The bartender, an older man, was extremely unfriendly and walked away on more than one occasion when I was trying to get my first drink. I remained polite. I never yelled or called him over and just waited until he had nothing else to do ex except finally get me a single beer. He never said anything other than ask what I wanted to order and then tell me the price. I turns out that he’s the owner as well. The guy definitely is not built for customer service and he makes it very apparent that he knows this as well. The food was not bad actually but it was something I could get elsewhere. This place is in desperate need of a complete remodeling. It seems to be caught in a time vortex. It reminds me of a 1990s bar that could have some decent music shows. It also still looks like a 90s bar. It’s a shame that this place, which used to be popular, clean and fun turned into a bar in desperate need of John Taffer to come in and fix it up. I will never come back here and highly recommend others to seek better options.

Great Pizza and Wings. You must try a big pitcher of the kamikazes. Wednesday nights with the Village Idiots are the best! They get some great local acts to perform there on a regular basis. Great service.

This place is ok. Nothing great about it and nothing terrible about it. But be careful of the time when you’re there. As soon as midnight hits on the weekend, some «characters» start arriving. And thats when fights almost always happen. So get out before trouble starts and you’ll have a good night

I really can’t put my finger on it, but I just don’t like Heil’s. Service is OK I suppose, but I just don’t like to walk in the door. Plenty of parking, and the location isn’t to bad, right on the border of Scranton and Dunmore.
If you like The Farside Comics and you’re a guy, you’re in luck. The men’s rooms is wallpapered in them. If you like bar fights you may also be in luck. I have seen several fights start here, none due to the bathroom décor.
There is an upstairs that I rarely see open. But This place does have live entertainment on Monday nights so if you are not at The Bog for open mic, this is the other option for an eventful start of the week.
I don’t really know what else to say, so if you are free on a Monday night, check it out. There are worse places you could go to than Heil’s Place.
