Specialties
Whimsical décor, luxurious linens, colorful gardens and fabulous food… one guest recently said we should be called a ‘bed and AWESOME breakfast’ — with always locally sourced ingredients — often from our own garden, you can feel good about what you eat here!
Located in the heart of the Monticello wine appellation, we are within 30 minutes of 30 wineries — including Blenheim (owned by rocker Dave Matthews and family), Pippin Hill, Thistle Gate, Jefferson, First Colony, Delfosse and Trump. During the summer months, we’re just a mile from the scenic and historic James River — great for canoeing, tubing, kayaking — and the famous Batteau Festival in mid June! Speaking of History — other neighbors are Monticello, Ashlawn Highland and Montpelier… and our house is on the National Historic Register and is a Virginia Landmark.
Skiing in winter, wineries in all seasons, river fun in the summer and orchards in the fall — come see us anytime!

Meet the Business Owner
Cynthia B.
Business Owner
Mother and Daughter duo, Nancy and Cynthia Bruce purchased High Meadows in 2007 and created an upscale yet affordable Bed and Breakfast experience. Colorful, whimsical and fun — Cynthia’s training as an Interior Designer is evident in the confident and unique use of color in this historic home. As a baker and cook, she credits her mother with teaching her to love good food.
Cynthia has 2 children who also call High Meadows home, and help feed the chickens and pick the flowers. Her daughter Sophia is following in her mother and grandmother’s footsteps and is learning to cook — and loving it. Francis, her son, is credited with many of the pictures on the website — he has a good eye for beautiful details.
