YAP USA designs and manufactures the world famous Yap Wrap harness system, leashes, collars, pet carriers and other functional apparel for dogs all made in the USA. Our store also specializes in healthy and organic USA made treats, organic toys and doggie spa products.

History

Established in 2005.

Yap’s flagship store opened it’s doors to all humans and their best friend in 2005. Located in the heart of SanFrancisco, California’s Ghiradelli Square. Yap enjoys dressing clients from around the world.

Liy Kath and his Italian Greyhound, Pronto, started Yap when they realized there was a need for safe and fashionable pet products for dogs and their owners. Liy did not like how most harnesses and collars pulled a dog by it’s neck, choking the dog and creating laryngal damage. Other harnesses led from the front, creating hip and back problems.

Liy created a harness that clips the lead onto the dog’s back. This harness gives the owner appropriate control while allowing the dog to walk freely and naturally without pain or injury. Liy went two steps further, adding a safety handle for emergencies as well as adjustable sizing of each harness around the girth and the neck of each dog.

YAP has grown since it first opened it’s doors. It now has a second store in Scottsdale, Arizona.

While visiting her hometown of San Francisco in 2005, Diane walked into a small pet boutique in Ghiradelli Square to pick up some things for her prized labradoodle «Star». Diane was so impressed with the products and designer Liy Kath’s commitment to the safety and comfort of the dog that Diane, along with her business partner Denise decided to help Liy expand into the Scottsdale Area. Just 6 short months later, YAP USA Scottsdale was born, serving dogs and their owners around the state.
