Smile Today

From the moment I walked in the door I felt comfortable! Which says a lot about going to the Dentist, I’m usually never comfortable. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. I felt like I was among friends. Very thorough exam and every concern I had was addressed. I will definitely be returning and will be referring my friends for Dental Services.

I saw Dr. Badri 6 months ago for a check up and cleaning. After his hygienist gave me rave reviews he came in and was overly friendly and talkative. At this point I had been there a long time and needed to pick up my kids from school. He knew this and continued to talk despite my telling him I needed to go ASAP. He then told me I had 3 cavities! This was very surprising to me since I had seen another dentist 6 months ago and had no problems. I haven’t had any cavities since childhood. I didn’t trust him and my gut was correct. My new dentist found no evidence of cavities. Additionally this office never even followed up on my supposed cavities. I would never return here and would NOT recommend this office to anyone.

This office is the best. I always get nervous going to a new dentist but Dr. Huish and his staff treat you like family. It’s a comfortable environment and would recommend it to anyone

I went to Smile Today on referral from a coworker. I scheduled an appointment for 7 am on a Friday. When I went in (ten minutes early) I was told that there was a scheduling mishap and that they didn’t have the other person in, she thought she was due in a 8 blah blah. I figured, mistakes happen, so I rescheduled. Didn’t see the point in making a big fuss over something so small. Wish I would have just walked away then.
I went in to the next appointment, and had to wait for 10 – 15 minutes past my appointment time for their morning meeting. I thought it was odd that they couldn’t have the meeting BEFORE they officially open, why schedule someone for 8 am if you have a meeting at 8 am? But again, whatever. So I have my exam, get my xrays and everything, and was going to have a cleaning. They probed my gums, and apparently my gums were bad, and they needed to do a deep cleaning. I hadn’t been to a dentist in a long time, so I was expecting bad news. They decided to do one quadrant, my lower left side of my mouth, and explained it would be a bit more expensive. They said that I would have to pay $ 75 per quarter of my mouth and the rest would be through insurance. I figured, better get it done. So I go through it, and they schedule me to come back in within two weeks to get the other three sides done.
I go back for my appointment, which they scheduled for 4 pm, to do the remaining three sections of my mouth. But when I get there, the hygienist says that she only has time to do one section since it was so late and they close at 5. Why they didn’t say something regarding the lack of time BEFORE I scheduled for 4 pm is beyond me. The lady started injecting the novocain into my left side. When she went for the tools, she started on the side that had already been done two weeks prior. I was like, hey, that section’s already done. They had marked the WRONG section in my charts. At this point I was getting very frustrated, but I tried to keep pleasant. So she said, well, I’ll just do the top part and have you come in to do the other side. She jabbed me with Novocain, and waited MAYBE a minute before starting. When I said I was still sensitive (since she was in such a rush because god forbid she stay a minute past five) she started jabbing me with even more novocain. Then she went to do the inside part of my mouth, which was completely un-​numbed, because she never injected anything back there (in the past I have ALWAYS had injections on the inside roof to make the inside part numb, I don’t know why she thought the cheek would be enough???) So then I get three or four more shots. At this point, I’ve completely lost track of how many shots I received, but it was well over 10. I’m not a person who’s resistant to novocain, in the past I only would need maybe a couple jabs on the cheek and the roof of my mouth. NOT TEN! If she would have waited a few minutes longer and gave the stuff a chance to work, I’m sure I wouldn’t have needed so much. (And if they had marked my chart correctly in the FIRST PLACE, I wouldn’t have needed my bottom jaw numbed at all, but I digress) Anyways, I get the cleaning done.
So I go back for the FOURTH time, to do the other side. Again the hygienist (same lady) jabs me over and over again, rather than waiting for it to fully work. I’m serious, she would start the work like a minute after injection. Any other dentist it would be at least five mins. Nor did she test to see if I was numb, she would just start grinding away. So I get the deep cleaning (finally after 3 visits) done. I asked for the mouth wash that they prescribe, which was mentioned on my initial appointment, and she said no just salt water. Then since I was numb I received some fillings on a particularly bad tooth and another. The dentist did it all alone, with no assistant to help, so god only knows if it was done properly.
So I go back for my follow up and she probes my gums again. One tooth’s gums (the bad one that had the filling) had gotten worse, which I personally think was due to the tooth itself which prob should’ve just been pulled imo. Then she gives me the mouthwash, which I prob should have had originally.
So throughout all of this I had paid hundreds of dollars and thought my insurance was taking care of the rest. Then I get a call today saying that I owe $ 590 because my insurance doesn’t cover cleanings, and the lady also mentioned the fillings, which I’m sure my insurance covers 100%. If I had been told that there was a possibility of insurance not covering the deep cleanings, I wouldn’t have gone through with the hassle of this place.
So I am canceling my follow up appointment in December. This bill is the last straw, it has been nothing but incompetence. Mistakes on my records, lack of communication in all channels, staff that will rush your procedures, all of these just point to a company that needs to get their act figured out. Its telling that I’d rather go to Mexico than go back to these people.

I showed up 15 minutes early for my 2:10pm appt, with new patient paperwork in hand because I’m that person. I sat in the waiting room until 2:45 when the receptionist finally said «Oops, I forgot their was a dental emergency that came in, and the doctor is tied up with that right now, I’m so sorry, it’s going to be a bit longer.» I told her it was okay, because I was in quite a bit of pain and needed to get the ball rolling on treatment ASAP. After another 15 minutes (we’re now 50 minutes past my appt time) a dental assistant came and got me and told me that the doctor was very busy, but she could get me started.
She didn’t exam a damn thing. She rammed the x-​ray machine in my mouth and took two pictures. After about 15 minutes of me sitting there, in silence wondering what was going on, she came back and said «you need two root canals, here’s a prescription for an antibiotic for the infection and pain killers for the pain.» Then she rushed off not giving me a second to process that I wasn’t actually going to see a doctor, or to explain that I am very sensitive to pain killers and cannot stomach any kind of opioid (they prescribed me 5mg hydrocodone– an opioid pain medication) which I later threw up after taking half because the pain was so great that it seemed worth it.
It doesn’t end there…
I then went and talked to Trish– who I guess is the office manager or something. She pulled me into a private room and handed me a quote for $ 5600!!! I tried to ask how they could come up with this without me even being examined by the actual doctor, and she just tried to throw in some free whitening, and «waive the exam fee» to distract me… Excuse me? The website said «FREE EXAM AND X-​RAYS FOR 1ST TIME PATIENTS»… she then questioned if I was in fact a first time patient, and said she was unaware of the offer on the website. Before I left she basically threatened that if I didn’t go home and immediately apply for their in-​house dental plan for $ 99/​year she would be billing me for the exam.
I called to cancel the appointment that Trish set up for me to have two root canals because I was uncomfortable going through with a procedure when it wasn’t even recommended by a doctor… the receptionist tried to cover the tracks… and she argued with me that «in the notes here it says you saw Dr. B_​_​_​_​». Well, I didn’t. I canceled and am currently looking for a more professional office to handle my smile.
In a city where there are dentist offices every other block, I highly recommend you find someone else to care for your mouth. This group is shady, and unprofessional. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Was hygienic. Customer service could’ve been better. They took forever, and I do mean FOREVER, to email my X-​rays to my new dentist when I moved.

I’ve been to many dentist throughout my life and smile today is by far the best. The office was very clean and contemporary, staff was great, and Dr. Huish provided excellent care. Dr. Huish and his staff did a really nice job of explaining procedures before and after.
I went to Dr. Huish because my former dentist told me that I had numerous cavities and needed a root canal. I went to Dr. Huish to get a second opinion and he only found one small one. He’s very honest and doesn’t ever try to upsell procedures you don’t mean. Would definitely recommend them to everyone!

Third time here and I love it more than I did when I first came ! All of the office staff are super friendly, and any of the hygienists are great! Kyle is a great guy, who genuinely cares for his patients! I love this place and recommend it to anyone new to the area looking for a great dentist out in Scottsdale !

Please DO NOT visit this dentist! I made the mistake of letting them perform dental work (fillings, crown) last year and have had problems ever since. I now live in California and am working with another dentist to try to correct the problems. Sadly, I felt no discomfort or pain in my mouth before this work was performed by Dr. Huish and his staff. Now I experience daily discomfort around the crown (my first and only one).
I returned THREE times to have the crown looked at and adjusted due to the discomfort. Not one of those three times did the dentist (you know, the one with the advanced degree) ever take a look at it. I recently found out from my current dentist that hygienists are NOT supposed to be adjusting crowns. But apparently, that’s who does it at Smile Today.
The icing on the cake — when I moved and needed to request my x-​rays and records for my new dentist, I had to call 3 times before they actually did anything (actually my husband called a 4^th time).
I see Smile Today now has a new office in Chandler, so I suppose all of the money from his patients on needless dental work helped fund his expansion.

Today I went to Smile Today dental office for the second time, and I had an even greater experience than six months ago. Although my teeth were in a pretty good condition, I was feeling a little nervous before the visit because of a cavity to be fixed. Well, I must say that a friendly and very professional staff helped me to overcome my anxiety. I had one request, that is, I didn’t want to feel any pain. Indeed, Dr. Huish did a wonderful job and I felt absolutely NO PAIN! :-) That’s a very important aspect for me. Back in Italy where I used to live, dentists handle your teeth like if they were fixing a truck! I was terrified by dentists. By now, all my worries are gone. Dr. Huish has a great bedside manner, friendly and reassuring. I want to thank him and all the dental staff for doing a very good job, and I am sorry to see negative reviews about it.
I strongly recommend this place for whoever wants professionalism and cordial manners at the same time! :-)

Worst dental office I have ever been to!!! SCAM DENTIST!!! Where do I even begin! The problems with this office are endless from NEVER returning calls, to billing issues, to not completing work you pay A LOT of money for, and lastly doing poor (unnecessary) work.
First off, I «needed» a filling (even though I have NEVER had one in my life so I am sure it was a SCAM) and it went bad within ONE YEAR!
Now for an even bigger problem. I originally went to this office for a cleaning and then decided to begin an Invisalign treatment through their office. I paid for my Invisalign IN FULL before I even received my first trays. Shortly after beginning my Invisalign treatment, I moved states. If your unfamiliar with the Invisalign process, you get two sets of trays and then after completing them go to the dentist to be checked to see if your done w/​those trays or need to keep one for longer, etc. So, after finding out I was moving I attempted to have my case transferred to another dentist, so I could get those necessary check ups. Invisalign themselves told me I have to handle this w/​the dentists and that they would do this. What a joke! The office would never call back! I found another office where I was moving too and he called them himself to try to get them to corporate and then Smile Today called me back and said that dentist sounded «shady». Their solution was for me to take my trays and continue my treatment with no checkups all because they would not transfer my case! They clearly do not deserve all of the thousands of dollars I paid when they did not do any work for my case! In the end, I HAD TO PAY for the treatment to be continued at another office!!! So ridiculous!!!
Overall, HORRIBLE FRONT OFFICE AND SCAM DENTIST!!!

Went into Smile today for a teeth cleaning and check up and walked out with a root canal. But it was due to my neglect of not going to the dentist because I hate it so much!!! This was one of the most painless dentist visit I’ve ever had and will definitely continue to use them and will refer them to anyone! They reached out to check up on me to see how I was doing or if I had any questions. It’s great knowing that your dentist actually cares and follows up with you. !!

I would never suggest the dentist Kyle Huish to anyone ever!!! I simply asked for a discount because he was filling four teeth and claimed that because my filling had a hole that I needed all four around it done. I had pain right after the numbing shot wore off. I went back and they filed me teeth a bit. Of course that didn’t help at all. I went in a third time and said «oh maybe it was a bad batch of filling». My guess it that since I asked for a discount he gave me old materials. I got one of the fillings redone and it is still painful and so is the one right below it. He did a horrible job!!! I now have to go to another dentist and pay him to fix what Kyle screwed up. Im very upset as I spent over 700.00 for him to screw things up worse than they were before I went to him. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT IT DONE CORRECTLY!!!

My first visit to Smile Today was two weeks ago when I desperately needed an extraction. I was so nervous. I actually took a cab over in anticipation of a horribly painful experience. Wrong! Sooo wrong.
Dr. Huish conducted a thorough exam. I had X-​rays done and then we discussed what needed to be done. He totally put my mind at ease. I was a little freaked out about having a toothed pulled. even though it was a way back molar, I didn’t want to look like a hillbilly! He assured me that the way my teeth were aligned I needn’t worry about it.
I was out of there quickly. The whole procedure was quick but certainly not rushed. Also, zero pain afterwards. I know, right?! I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Everyone at Smile Today is awesome. Super friendly staff. And yes, Dr. Huish is very friendly and I found it comforting.
I’m back today to have my teeth cleaned. I’m so happy to have a great dentist so close to home. I’ve already referred several clients and will continue to do so.
They have an in house dental plan that I read about on Unilocal.Ask about it. I purchased it and now I’m back to regular cleanings and exams without breaking the bank.
Oh hey, I almost forgot. .they have covered parking which is fabulous in 180° weather and a mini fridge stocked with bottled water in the comfy waiting area.

I sent this review to the office, which claims to respond to comments within 24 hours, but received no response after more than a week. Here goes:
I’ve had weird experiences since I first went to Smile Today, mostly due to excessive, inappropriate-for-the-dentist’s-office flirtiness by Dr. Huish, as well as a bedside manner that was more sales-​y than empathetic. I get really nervous going to dentists, and each visit I had here left me more stressed than before I even arrived.
The first time, I had to be drilled for several cavities, even though I hadn’t had any in more than 10 years. Dr. Huish told me he’d never seen such big indentations than the ones in my molars, and because of my teeth’s shape, I could expect to have cavities every visit — not because I wasn’t brushing correctly, but because of the shape of my teeth.
I’ve been to see him several times since and haven’t had a cavity again — odd. I almost felt like I was being sold cavity correction the first time and that drilling was unnecessary. As someone who experiences a ton of nervousness at the dentist, this definitely didn’t put me at ease, and I got this same sales vibe each subsequent visit.
Six months ago, I had to wait more than 30 minutes in the waiting room, after leaving work early for my appointment, because they weren’t ready for me. I wanted to never come back, based on this lack of customer service and the uncomfortableness I’d already experienced on prior visits, but I decided to give them one more chance since they’d already become familiar with my teeth.
I went again recently, which was my last time I’ll be visiting Smile Today. The hygienist, after telling me my teeth were all in great shape and had no cavities, insisted my enamel was wearing off and that I should consider buying a prescription toothpaste from them — «I’d do it if it was me,» was how she tried to sell the toothpaste to me. I thought it was odd this recommendation didn’t come from a dentist (who I overheard telling another patient, «We’re not a dentist office that is going to try to hard sell you a bunch of stuff» — if you even have to say that statement, something sounds fishy.)
Dr. Huish again made me uncomfortable during his less-​than-​five-​minute visit with me, where he asked if I wear green pants because «they match my pretty green eyes,» and touched my arm and leg, which I didn’t think was appropriate — but that was consistent with other times I’ve met with him.
When the X-​ray technician was setting me up for my next appointment in six months, I asked for the latest available appointment because I have to commute from Chandler. She asked if 4 p.m. was OK, and when I replied, «If that’s the latest possible, yes,» she said, «Well, we can do 4:30, but we like to leave by 5 to beat the traffic.» What?!
I called to cancel it, and the receptionist I’ll never see again didn’t bother to ask why I will not be a Smile Today patient in the future. I know if I was losing customers, I’d love to know why to improve on future experiences.
Smile Today incentivizes patients to check in and review them on social media in exchange for credit, which, I guess they can use to buy prescription toothpaste they may not even need. This isn’t the type of review I like to leave, though, and it probably wasn’t the quick five-​star rating they would have liked from a patient just looking for a dentist credit.

I finally found a dentist that I like. Dr. Huish is a fantastic dentist, and the hygienists that he has do an amazing job. I never feel sore when I am done with my visit. I also had a few cavities filled, and again, I cannot complain. The people at Smile Today make dentistry quick and painless.

Had my first appointment yesterday to get a well overdue cleaning– Nervous of course to try a new dentist! Clean office, super friendly staff and AMAZING hygienists! I felt so comfortable and she was SO friendly. Dr. Kyle even came over a chatted for a few mintues!
PLUS they have an awesome check in special that goes towards are visit EVERY TIME you visit… cant beat that!
Clean pearly whites and an affordable dentist?! Sign me up! Already have my next appt booked out !

Have been to smile today twice. Both times have been terrific. The girls who do the cleaning are very professional and very very friendly. Sierra is awesome. Dr. Kyle is thorough and kind and knows what he’s doing when it comes to Dentistry. Their office is very well appointed with the most modern equipment. I highly recommend you going to smile today.
