The name of our church is First Church.

We strive to be a listening, loving, living people.

On a typical Sunday morning we:

Sing songs… new ones and old ones.

Pray prayers… written, silent, spoken, and spontaneous; we say the «Our Father»

There is preaching — Actually, Matt tends to be a «teacher» more than a «preacher» and attempts to be both deeply theological and practical.

We often celebrate the Eucharist (also called the Lord’s Supper or Communion).

Meet our Lead Pastor:

I am the husband of one beautiful woman and the father of two beautiful daughters. I make really good pizza, tomato sauce, pasta, pot roast, and Mexican food. Besides my culinary skills, I have a great interest in Theology and the Church. I have a BA from Ottawa University, an MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary and am beginning work on a PhD in Theology from Claremont Graduate University.

A fourth generation Nazarene, I have been in vocational ministry since 1999. I have deep roots at Scottsdale Nazarene — Years ago my grandparents were active members, my parents were married here, and many other family and friends have been important parts of Scottsdale First. It is an honor to be at a church with such a rich history!
