Kris Di Nucci, DPM

I’ve gone here for the past few years. Found it has some good and bad aspects. They are:
The Good:
— clean, good location in N. Scottsdale
— x-​ray capabilities on site
The Bad:
— much older lady in the front you have to deal with has quite a snippy attitude. just rude
— his exam rooms are so hot, in the summer, you could sweat a full bucket. Found out that is because the doctor likes it on the warm side. Well… in a business you should consider what your patients want too!
— you get placed in a chair they raise way high while you wait for the doctor. Can’t get down, nothing to do or read and you are stuck in the hot room
— Doctor seems kinda rushed sometimes, not fully focused on you. Not always, but enough. Probably because of the con below.
— the biggest con of all — he TRIPLE books his appointments. You book for 1 pm and guess what — 2 other people are booked for the same time. I asked why they do this and was told that there have several exam rooms so that’s why. I said that it isn’t fair to people because one of the 3 people booked will likely not be seen until ½ hr to 40 min past their appt time. It’s happened to me before and I couldn’t understand it. Especially when I took the time to ask for the first appt. after the lunch break so I could be in and out as fast as possible because of my job. It is just plain disrespectful to a patient to not respect my time as valuable. I’ve heard of double booking, but triple booking is not ok in my book.
So I would say that this place is ok if you have oodles of time to spend waiting and like being rushed by the doctor after paying good money. Me — I work full time and go to school full time. Wasting my time is not acceptable.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Di Nucci for over two years. The front staff is nice and helpful. The nurses/​assistants in the back are cold and uncaring, with the exception of one newer gal, I wish I knew her name, she is a sweetheart! I never felt like my time was valuable, but definitely got the impression from Dr. Di Nucci that his time was! For example, every visit was a long wait behind the closed door of the exam room. Once he arrived for visits he would usually leave the door open, which seemed inconsiderate of me as the patient, and would make me feel incredibly rushed. For instance, I would be explaining why I was there and what was going on with my foot and would often be interrupted. I would be asking a question about my foot and/​or about the procedure suggested and I would be interrupted, and usually with an attitude of «I’m the doctor, I know best».
Overall, aside from complaining here on Unilocal,and no longer being a patient of Dr. Di Nucci, I hope to encourage Dr. Di Nucci to stop rushing patients, overcharging patients, and to be more considerate of his patient’s time. I can’t be the only patient feeling this way. I hope that he will consider shutting the door for privacy as well as HAVING A SEAT and listening to his patients! We are in pain and needing his help, and we know our bodies best. I think if he viewed his job more as a helper and less as THE expert, the relationship between patient and doctor would grow, and perhaps the morale of his entire team would strengthen as well. I’m sure his job gets tedious, but It is his job and we are paying for his services…

BEWARE!!! I had surgery with Dr. DiNucci in November 2015-​hardware was placed in my foot and by March I was having swelling and unable to comfortably wear shoes. After being re-​examined (and charged $ 100) I was told that I had to have the hardware removed. I was told I could do it in office– I chose this because of cost and not wanting to have general anesthesia again. After scheduling the appointment I spoke with my insurance and was told the cost would be my co-​pay only– $ 80.00. I was called by his office later that day and told it was over $ 1000.00 out of pocket and all went towards my deductible. I have spent the last few days on the phone with his office with a Blue Cross rep explaining the billing to them. After finally agreeing with my insurance that I should be charged the $ 80 only I was called back yesterday and told it would be my copay and an additional $ 100 that would not be billed to my insurance. I explained they were contracted and that was not how this should be. I contacted BC again– this time his Blue Cross rep called them and told them they could not charge me the additional amount. This afternoon I received a call from the office telling me my «insurance told them I had to do the procedure at a facility». This was a lie-​they are trying to make the most money possible off of their patients and not following network guidelines! My surgery was unsuccessful and now they are trying to make more money off me. There are many great doctors with great staff in Scottsdale– this is not one!

I spent weeks looking for the right doctor/​surgeon to perform a complicated surgery on my ankle involving the replacement of my cartilage. I decided on Dr. Dinucci and couldn’t be happier with my decision. It has been a year since my surgery and I would say my ankle is 95% what it used to be. Do not hesitate in choosing Dr. Dinucci. He is very knowledgeable, experienced and has excellent bedside manner. His staff and office are all very nice as well.

Great doctor but don’t bother showing up early. They always seem to be running way behind. I had to ask for a refund of my co-​pay and walk out because it had been close to 40 minutes after my appointment and I was still in the waiting room. I know Dr. Dinucci’s time is valuable, but so is the time of his patients.

Joyce at the front desk was lovely but the nursing staff has quite the attitude. Good health care requires a team. Please take note Dr D!

I miss Dr. Di Nucci! I saw him when he was in Omaha and he was awesome! I had sustained a pretty traumatic fracture and a resultant compartment syndrome several years before I saw him and was still dealing with the repercussions from that. He performed a couple of different surgeries for me and helped me get to as close to pain free as I had ever been since the original fracture. He was always professional, pleasant, and made me feel comfortable and confident with him.

Dr DiNucci’s office is clean and his front office staff were nice. They were helpful on the phone when I called for an appointment for my young daughter who suffered from ingrown toenails just as I did as a child. I knew she needed the minor surgical procedure to have them removed, but also knew that she would be horrified due to the use of needles and would likely refuse the procedure without some sort of sedative. I talked to the office staff and nurses approximately 3 times in the process of making my appointment, explaining that my daughter would need a prescription for some sort of sedative. Dr DiNucci did not want to prescribe her anything and suggested I ask her pediatrician (she’s 11). Her pediatrician refused, and said that the doctor doing the procedure should write the script. I talked to the office/​nursing staff again and explained the situation and my daughter’s phobia of needles and we agreed she would come in for an appointment for the doctor to examine her feet and write a prescription and then make another appointment for the procedure since no one would fill a script without seeing her first (although she had been at her pediatricians a week prior and was already a patient of record with Dr DiNucci). When we were seen by the nurse and then the doctor they both tried to convince my daughter, who I’d assured we were only coming for a script and an exam and not a procedure, that it doesn’t hurt and they do it to kids all the time without drugs. My daughter’s anxiety got worse and worse as they were trying to convince her. Dr DiNucci then told her it wasn’t her choice, it was mine (her mother’s), laid the chair back and told her to lay down and quit making his other patients wait. She was in hysterics by this point. He told her that she’d end up in the emergency room with an infection if she didn’t get it taken care of (generally not true, but now using scare tactics). He finally got frustrated with her non-​compliance and whipped his gloves off and left the room. I explained to the nurse that we were only there for a script (having explained this numerous times before) and that we were told if we made the appointment we would receive that. She had the doctor come back in, who went through the whole spiel again about it being no big deal and not needing meds. After stating our case AGAIN to him, he wrote a script. I have written a letter to the doctor, asking for the $ 66 fee to be waived that we are to pay for the visit since I took off a half day from work, pulled my child out of school early and drove across town for her to be frightened and belittled and for us to not be treated the way we asked to be treated from the first phone call. Their office manager wrote back, stating they won’t waive the charge because «trays were prepared» and the doctor saw my daughter. They should have never prepared trays as that was never supposed to be the purpose of the visit. My daughter was also treated horribly, treated like a nuisance because of her needle phobia and it wasted everyone’s time and money. If this was any other type of service, I would have refused the «service» and walked out, but since the doctor came in to the room with my child and his nurses «prepared trays», we are required to pay. I can’t say anything about the doctor’s actual skills in the field of podiatry, but his lack of empathy and bedside manner for his young patients leaves me to give him one star, only because zero stars isn’t an option. Shame on you for making people pay when you provide awful service. I will not bring any of my family back to this office, so it’s back to square one.

I am an avid runner who when faced with the prospect of fusion to my big toe joint, thought my running days were over. Thankfully, I found Dr. DiNucci. He took the time to explain my condition and the steps needed to get me back on my feet. Before surgery, he asked me when my next race would be. That immediately gave me hope that I could run and hike again. Everyone at his office was friendly, professional and supportive throughout the process. Due to his careful instructions and follow-​up, I am happy to say that I re-​qualified for the Boston Marathon in just under 6 months from the day of surgery. Dr. DiNucci, I cannot thank you enough! Dr. DiNucci is fantastic! My husband broke his foot and was referred to the Foot and Ankle Center of Arizona by several people. We met with a few doctors and decided that Dr. DiNucci was definitely the right man for the job. I, being the lovely chauffeur, joined my husband at every appointment.
The ladies at the front desk are on the ball. I love that! Every time we walked in, even the first time, they knew who we were before we said a word. There was never longer than a 5 minute wait to get back to to a room. After the nurse did her thing, Dr. DiNucci would appear in a matter of minutes. His friendly demeanor and willingness to answer even the craziest questions was refreshing. He had a great sense of humor, but remained professional. All around a great doctor to work with.
Surgery and recovery have gone well. We will return to the Foot and Ankle Center of Arizona for all of our future foot care needs!

I normally only Unilocal about places to eat and drink but Dr. DiNucci deserves 5 stars. I had an ingrown toe nail (Ouch) and he was able to fix the toe nail and prevent if from happening again. He is very professional and has a great staff. I highly recommend him.
