Higginbotham & Son

I’ve used Higginbotham & Sons for about 10 years. They always get here quickly and are always quick to diagnose the problem. The owner has come out a few times to do the work and he’s intelligent, hard working and honest. Sure we’ve had a couple of hiccups but they always make it right. The first time I used them, their tech correctly diagnosed a bad relay when 3 other companies said to replace the compressor.
Unfortunately Higginbotham is one of the last companies that understand customer service and doing the job right, (old school values). Ever call one of the big companies that run commercials daily? How did that work out after they drained your bank account?
Call Higginbotham!

I have only good things to say about Higginbotham $ Son’s service. They were prompt, courteous, and fixed my A/​C in less than 30 minutes. I called my warranty company and they assigned the contractor and got the call from Higginbotham within an hour and they were out the following morning by 8am. That is not bad as its the middle of summer in Arizona! Great job and thank you for your service! I totally recommend.

So, yeah… the hottest week of the summer and I walk in my house after work to 98 degrees. Yay me.
I contacted my home warranty company and requested service for my air conditioner to be repaired. Normally when I request service, I get a call before 9am by the contractor, but this time I had to initiate the call to Higginbotham & Son myself.
It seemed when I called there was a little bit of disarray in the office and they took a while to find the service request placed by the warranty company. They did locate the information and I was scheduled to have a technician at my house the next day — on a Saturday. I was told between 8am and 4pm. I received the ‘heads up’ call about 11:30am and the technician arrived shortly after.
After about an hour on the roof, it was determined that I needed a new compressor. That didn’t sound like I was going to be laying with a blankey on the sofa that evening…
It was Saturday, so the compressor wouldn’t be ordered until Monday and could take 3 – 5 days. Can anyone say ” :/​«
Thank goodness for my evap cooler, which although it wasn’t 72 in the house, it kept it tolerable. Anyway…
I started looking at the negative reviews that Higginbotham & Son received on the internet and I kinda threw up in my mouth a little bit. Was I on the verge of a nightmare???
Anyway… during the week I called and was assured that my compressor was due in on Thursday. I called on Thursday and was told to call that afternoon. I called that afternoon and it was in the office and I was scheduled for service for Friday between 8−4pm.
I was given my 20 minute ‘heads up’ call and the tech arrived shortly thereafter. The compressor was installed without any drama or problems and within an hour, I was a happy happy girl.
I understand others had problems, but I felt that the service I received was pretty reasonable and I really have no other complaints — except for being placed on hold numerous times, but hey…

The service was average. The service person was average. When there was a problem related to their lack of documentation from their servicing of my a/​c units, they did stand behind their work, returning to do the same work again, but this time doing the proper documentation. I’ll give them credit for doing the right thing.

I will take any chance I get to tell anyone I can not to use Higginbothom & Son. I’ll post it on Facebook, plaster it on Angie’s List. Heck, if I’m at a red light, I’ll roll down my window and tell the person next to me what a poor excuse for a company these guys are.
If I could give Higginbotham & Son no stars I would. I was forced to use them through my home warranty company and the experience, all around, from start to finish was awful. 1) They were impossible to get through to. The ²⁴⁄₇ service advertised is nothing more than an answering service after hours. 2) The folks in the office flat out lie (actually, I’m quite sure they simply pass on lies) but they promise to call back and don’t, schedule appointments that aren’t kept and don’t return calls. 3) Technicians simply fail to show up – god help you if you take time off of work hoping to deal with these folks 4) If you are not paying for an «emergency» visit, you will be moved to the back of the service line each time someone else does. It can take weeks to be serviced.
All in all, Higgibotham just caused me so much frustration and time and wasted energy that I’d tell anyone not to use them. There are so many other companies to choose from. I really don’t recommend this. And wish I could take back even the one star at I had to give them. Horrible.
